Great sub place, aim to be there a little before noon or a little before 1pm to avoid the lines. Fresh bread baked on site with custom recipes, often still warm when they make your sandwich. Try the multigrain or the cheese and olive. Double Montrealer is my favourite — double Montréal smoked meat, very tasty. They don’t make many but the pineapple pizza is great too. If you aren’t buying a sub but something out of the case(pizza, salad, drink, whatever) you can skip the sub line.

Best sub place downtown in my opinion. The bread is freshly made and oh so tasty! Prices are decent and there are lots of options, though I personally tend to stick with turkey and swiss myself. The lines can get pretty long if you go right at noon, but if you aim for a little earlier or later it’s not bad. However, in my opinion even if you end up there right at noon the food is worth the wait. :)

I love this place. I often stop by on the way to work to pick up something for breakfast, but it is also a great place for a quick and easy lunch. They have a variety subs, cookies, breakfast sandwiches, fruits, etc. As opposed to a bakery, i would consider this place to be more of a deli. There isn’t a huge selection in comparison to other places, but I love the convenience and its perfect for those who travel through the plus 15’s. Its a privately owned business and the owner always greets me with a smile and asks me about my day. I appreciated these little things. However, make sure you get there before the lunch rush because the line can get pretty long.

Working downtown, I sometimes find it hard to find something«to go» that isnt a chain/fast food. It’s food court or sit down fancy. Enter Submission. Conveniently located in the plus 15 level of the Watermark building, it is a grab and go, with real, fresh food(mostly subs). But these aren’t Jared Subway subs… First, the bread is freshly made… still warm even! And not the«I threw a frozen loaf in the oven» kind you get at the chains. There are a variety of beautiful, creative options too like salami bread, olive bread, tomato and cheese breads. They are awesome to look at and I image they all taste great. I chose the multigrain(trying to be healthy). It was flavourful and crusty… like mom would make(if she baked bread) They have a variety of fillings and veggie toppings, assembled in a line format. I like that they have some toppings you wouldn’t normally find too like sprouts. Even if you are new to Submission, it is easy to figure out how the ordering process works. They have it down to a science so if there is a line it moves fast. They also have great sides like soup, cookies, veggies and dip(choice of dip!) and their prices are awesome. You can get a half sub for under $ 5 and it is more than enough, even without a side. Service… efficient but friendly. They also take credit cards and debit which some little places don’t(which can be a barrier for me sometimes). There is a small seating area as well. I’ll be back!

I’ve walked past this sub shop a thousand times, navigating +15’s between my office and others, in search of lunchtime sustenance. Anytime the clock was anywhere NEAR noon, a huge lineup usually stretched out the door of Sub Mission, often across the hall. This is always a sign of something good going on, but generally I’m not going to have the patience for it. Truthfully, I’d rather not wait in line for anything, if I can help it. However, today I was early, and also happened to be a warm, sunny Friday(read: everyone is phoning in sick to grab a long weekend). So surprisingly, the line was almost nonexistent. Jackpot! I now know the appeal of Sub Mission. Bread choices stretched beyond the mundane«white and brown» of other places, and included breads with cheese and jalapenos, or cheese and salami/pepperoni baked on top(the standards are of course available as well). Fillings and combinations also were a bit more creative. I opted for the«spicy chicken salad,» more out of curiosity than anything. I like a little heat, so I wanted to see what they did with chicken salad to crank it up. Turns out it was good — a peppery flavour that wasn’t overwhelming, but spicy nonetheless. The whole package was top shelf. Warm, fresh bread. REAL fresh bread. Great fillings + plentiful options. Really, I could mix and match any number of combinations and not get bored. Looks like I’ll be waiting in lines from now on.
