We had a fun time last night doing the pirate room. We finished the room in 27:45 which was about a minute slower than their best time. The room was easier than expected, though I wasn’t sure what to fully expect being my first time doing one of these. We later found out that the pass/fail on that room was 50%. I’m not sure how you wouldn’t be able to get out of that room as everything seemed fairly straightforward. I would say its a good starter room if you haven’t been to a place like this before.

No spoilers for you. We did the pirate room and it was super fun! There were eight of us and we all had a great time! Puzzles were challenging but nothing too difficult. Some of us were worried it was going to be scary but there was nothing scary about the pirate room, I can’t say the same for any of the other rooms. You have to work together or you won’t succeed. First time I’ve done this room and we will have to try some of the other theme rooms. Great for all ages(15 plus) and no physical challenges at least for this room. We will definitely be back!

So far I have only escaped the 8 bit adventure room but it was THEMOSTFUN I’VEEVERHADIN60MINUTES. It was so exciting, I couldn’t stop laughing, clapping, and jumping up and down. There were 6 of us which is the maximum for that room, we used 2 hints, and we escaped in 44 minutes. I would recommend using hints if you’re really stuck so that you can actually progress through the room. They have done a great job with the puzzles and locks; you really need to use team work to complete everything. I would recommend this room to anyone looking for something different to do in Calgary. I can’t wait to go back and do all the other rooms they have!

Did my second locked room today(first in the new location) and took my team and had us locked up in the pirate room and it was just great fun. Even the reluctant got involved after a few minutes not knowing what to think early on and where getting excited as the clock ticked down. First of all, it’s a perfect team event and the collaboration happens so very organically. Team building can be costly, or ineffectual or difficult to find something interesting but was a very reasonable activity that naturally lead to great cooperation and intuitive thinking. There is cheering and celebration of successes. Great for groups of creatives, millennials, engineers or other technical kind of people. My first time round we ended up with 2 people in the room and that was a complete bust. It was so much most successful with a group of 8(but don’t worry — 2 people can go I just recommend finding a room with another small group already booked and squeeze in with them!) Some of the puzzles are really challenging(or dead easy and you are making them challenging) and I can’t believe we figured out a couple(I never would have made it there myself I don’t believe). It’s probably worth it to get a clue if you’re really stuck because sometimes the room just falls into place after you get by ONE lock. and it’s really the difference between finishing or not. Over all it’s quite fun and worth a go if you like puzzles, riddles, and snooping around people’s houses. The new location is also looks a bit more put together which adds to the experience. A suggestion — before your party or event why not get some cocobrooks across the street? And once the pirate room has you asking«where’s the rum?» maybe hit up the toad and turtle to celebrate your escape(or drown your sorrows) with an adult beverage.

Ever wanted to be locked in a room with your friends and solve brain-teasing puzzles and riddles to find your way out? I mean, as long as it doesn’t turn into the movie ‘Saw’? Then of course you do, who wouldn’t want to feel smart and have fun doing it! That’s exactly what Escape Rooms offer, and it’s a great way to pass time and have a great experience with friends. I can absolutely say that I love this place. I love the whole idea of Escape Rooms, and The Locked Room really managed to make the experience fun and challenging enough to keep us on our toes, but without wanting to rip our hair out as well! As Escape Rooms are most certainly a group experience, getting together five or six people is ideal. My friend and I came alone without being aware of this – and though we enjoyed the challenge, it would have been nice to get more people in so we could solve all the puzzles within the time limit, rather than having to be shown the solutions we couldn’t get to(as a side note, the staff are here to help with hints, should you need it, and they’re incredibly friendly as well as helpful!). To whom it may interest, there’s even a leaderboard in the lobby to show the groups that have solved the different rooms the fastest. If you’ve got a competitive edge, now there’s even more incentive to try a room with your friends and show off your stuff! If you’ve never had an experience like this or even heard of Escape Rooms, please check this place out! If you’re a seasoned veteran, you won’t be disappointed!

When you find out that you’re going to be locked in a room with 5 of your co-workers for an hour in the name of team building, it’s natural to feel a little apprehensive. What if someone forgot the deodorant that morning? What if I need to pee?!? The good news is that this place has good ventilation and an emergency button in case you need to visit the bathroom. The even better news is that this was BYFAR the most interesting and fun team builder I’ve ever done. Forget about going bowling(those jokes about giant balls never get old) but being trapped in a room and working together to get out really made me appreciate the different skills of each person I was trapped with. Each room is themed differently(pirate, wine, video game) with a whole bunch of different puzzles or challenges that you need to solve to find the key and unlock the room. There’s also only 60 minutes to solve the entire thing so you have the added pressure of the clock ticking down. Bottom line — if you need a fun group activity that’s different from the norm, this is a no-brainer. But thinking is involved, so bring your brain.

What a fun way to spend an hour! We had a great time trying to escape the clutches of Pirate doom. The puzzles were challenging and the dynamic of working together with strangers added to the fun. Can’t wait to try the other rooms!
