I went to Planet Coffee with a friend since it was convenient. The café is a decent size, but all the tables are crowded together. What seemed like the owner of the café was working along with another young guy. The owner asked us what we wanted, he seemed miserable. I got a latte and my friend just got a coffee. The young guy made my drink, it seemed like he was new and the owner was hassling him about taking so long. The prices for things are pretty standard, $ 3 – 4 for hot drinks. They have some squares along with a few other food options, I got my ever favorite confetti square. My latte was not very warm. I was unimpressed with Planet Coffee, the service was not up to par with other cafes around.

The reason The Planet is such a genius idea is because it’s located off the Trans Canada Highway and it’s a drive-thru coffee shop! That means that people who have a big drive ahead of them, or even just the lazy ones don’t have to get out of their car to get their coffee. It’s just brilliant! Now, I personally have never used the drive-thru at The Planet, but that’s because I have a secret fear of drive-thru’s. I’d much rather just go inside… and it’s pretty cool in there, I must say. It’s painted all nice and blue, with some pictures on the walls. They’ve probably got about 6 signs telling you that ‘cream is in the fridge.’ I think it might be faster to go through the drive-thru, though, since it appears they serve those people quicker. That’s probably because they want to usher the cars out as quick as possible. Okay, makes sense. The Planet doesn’t really offer that much food selection. They’ve got a couple of panini’s advertised on their menu, but most of the food is pre-made and waiting in a fridge for you to buy. Luckily, they have a microwave so you can heat some stuff up. I think they mostly focus on their drinks at this place. They have the obvious coffee and assortment of tea, but they’ve also got a bunch of different latte’s to choose from like vanilla, hazelnut, chocolate, etc. I usually stick with regular coffee because it’s cheap! I really do think that this drive-thru coffee place is the greatest idea ever! It saves time for people in a hurry, and getting out of the car for people who are lazy. Maybe next time I’ll actually try the drive-thru…
