This place was recommended by local whale watching company, so we went to try it out. Food is ok, I had seafood chowder in cup and wish I ordered the soup in bowl(as cup portion is too small, I should have add another $ 1 to have bowl instead, sushi portion is a bit small. My husband ordered nacho with chicken which is good. Place is pretty cool to hang out and they have very good wifi too. Will go back again if I visited Campbell river. And the waitress is very nice!

The Riptide currently boasts a very nice-looking menu, apparently using locally sourced ingredients. However, a recent lunch was worse than disappointing. What was supposed to be Snapper tacos tasted suspiciously like rockfish, but worse, the fish was decidedly not fresh and was in fact slightly off. We sent this dish back and ordered a Chicken and Brie Panini, thinking this would be difficult to mess up, but it was bland and flavourless — a pita flatbread with slices of less-than-ripe tomato, overly melted cheese, and a plain chicken breast. No pesto or any other flavours except perhaps mayo. Not worth the money. The other dish we ordered, the prawn won tons, was just strange; overly deep-fried and greasy with not much to them. They came with what tasted like a jar sauce. I would not go back.

This place was recommended by several locals; maybe they treat/feed tourists differently than regulars. It is a huge place, so no worries about getting a table early on a weeknight without a reservation. A few tables have a view, most are in the 1980s dark interior Service was seriously unpleasant. Food was just gross. Bad steak, bad fish, cold limp fries. The only wine option was something called Naked Grape, which we later found in a wine shop to have a disturbing description along the lines of «grapes from unknown locations made into table wine somewhere in Canada”– really a travesty considering that British Columbia has many fabulous wineries, including some darned good ones within 50 miles. We DID have an excellent dinner from the Thrifty Grocery another night, and only ourselves to blame for mediocre service.

I had a choice, popular hipster chain or local waterfront in a clean building that promoted local style and culture. Well guess what! The menu was unpretentious but diverse units american flare. Best Martini ever! I asked and the tender said«I make the way I like’m»!! ?? I had the steampot(pic) tender, tasty and not enough crispy French bread to sop the jus! Cheap wine SERVICE! 100%

Have been here a few times over the past six or so years. It’s one place the locals will point you to for a decent meal, don’t believe them!!! Went with some fishing buddies who like good food. They had the crab and steak. Most of the steaks weren’t cooked properly and sent back. All of the crab was over cooked and the meat stuck to the shells because it was way overdone. Another time a different group wanted to go, yuck. They got something like the chicken wrapped something and it was horrible, prepackaged, microwaved grossness. Nice location, drinks are fine and appies aren’t too bad. If you go there stick to a few drinks, some nibblies then go anywhere else for dinner. Only rates 2 stars because of location and bar fare.
Riptide is a local establishment in Campbell River since 1997, more of a locals and boaters hangout than the other nearby establishment. After enjoying our lunch there, we thought we’d give this one a try as its on the top of the list of recommendations by our local contacts. We went for a drink and stayed for dinner. The bartender was an older fellow who’d been around for a long time and could fill us in on the local scoop. Hubbie and I both ordered the sirlion, mine with the gorgonzola butter. The roasted potatoes and 5 kinds of roasted veggies were excellent, so good that I took the tasty steak home for later. That didn’t stop me from trying their sticky toffee pudding– a BC concoction. Their version with ginger in the cake, caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream was very good. They have a good selection of beers on tap and a fairly decent wine list. There isn’t anything about this place that I would change. Local flavor, local produce, done to a high standard. Definitely our best meal in Campbell River. Two steak dinners and 5 drinks for about $ 65. Great value for the money.

Big giant lovely pub by the waterfront. This must be a money producing machine in the summer. Food was OK, my beef mushroom soup was so salty I couldn’t finish it. Just because we were travelling through, coming and going, we ate here twice. A little pricey for me, even though I eschew chains when I can, I think the lunch was costlier than it needed to be.
