Ermahgerd! Can I end my review here? No. Okay then I’ll continue. Oh my gosh guys, I loved it at Quarry Lake. It is really close to Calgary– about an hour and 20 mins going towards Canmore. And it is a breath of fresh air. I mean there were a few cons: — a large amount of children(perfect for the family, I suppose.) –one outhouse(eeekkk– hopefully the lake isn’t used as a toilet. Let’s not think about it.) –the water is quite cold. So why does it still get five stars for me? –after about 7 pm it quiets down and you can really enjoy your surroundings. And what a surroundings it is. Nestled between the mountains– it’s absolutely gorgeous. There is a path for walking, hiking and biking. Of course, there is a dog park– so your furry friends can enjoy it too. And the lake is big enough for floating, wading and swimming. I’m trying to explore Alberta’s backyard more– so maybe there are lakes more spectacular than this– but for me I really enjoyed everything about Quarry Lake. And I am definitely planning on going again. Where are some of your favourite lakes in Alberta? Preferably, warmer waters for swimming and floating on one of those blow-up swan floaties? Leave me your comments below :)

As far as off leash parks go, this one is actually rather small, especially for the middle of wilderness, like Canmore is, and kind of boring. But, when the bears aren’t around, I’ll go into the forest behind(which is technically not off-leash) and there’s better scenery, a lake, etc. and makes for a more interesting, longer walk. Lots of people do it, but I won’t say it never gets patrolled. However, the background imagery cannot be beat! I’ve never had issues with parking — it’s very easy to find. May be a little hard to turn left into the dog park if traffic is heavy but otherwise it’s a good place to let your dog blow off some steam if you’re not going to take him/her for a hike.
