Solid place to stay while in Charlottetown. Sure many of you have stayed in Holiday Inns. Some are quite good, some are average and some are a complete travesty to the hotel industry. This location although older in decoration is very comfortable and of higher quality. It’s much better than others that you stay in where you feel like you are staying in a university dorm room house. I had the pleasure of resting in a one king bed suite room. It had a fridge(great for families) and a pull out couch. HVAC unit was a bit unpredictable on the heat but at least it blasted out warm air when it was needed and cool reversing air also. Bed was comfortable and your usual selection of HI different softness pillows were openly appreciated. Lastly breakfast was typical HI. Laser thin sliced bacon. Frozen cheese(reheated omelettes), bananas, cereal, yoghurt, toast and a juice machine. All you could ask for. The HI breakfast is uninspiring for a seasoned traveller but palatable for breakfast. Overall staff were pleasant and welcoming which made you feel happy. Sure it’s not a Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons but it’s on the higher scale for Holiday Inn Ex.

Yeah, well. We wanted to spend one night in Charlottetown. Rooms are incredibly overpriced in most hotels in the city, and Holiday Inn Express is no exception. We did manage to get a slight discount though, so we booked. Our room had a king sized bed and Jacuzzi. The Jacuzzi was the highlight of our stay. The pillows were like marshmallows; your head just sunk right down. We may as well not even have bothered with them. It also didn’t help that our room was right off the elevator and right over the lobby. We heard a lot of foot traffic. Speaking of noise … WARNING: this place is dog friendly. There was a dog left alone all day and most of the night in the room next to ours. First it just occasionally whined. Then it started occasionally barking and whining. Then it was incessantly barking and whining. We had to call and complain. The dog could be heard *in the lobby below* and the clerk had been given permission by the owners to … take it out or something. Which she did. It was 10 p.m. by this point. I felt bad that poor dog was stuck with such irresponsible owners. And the water pressure thing. This is the worst water pressure I have ever had. It took me forever to wash and rinse my hair. The water was sometimes just a trickle, and forget about hot water. We got warm and that was it. Breakfast was a continental buffet, which doesn’t appeal to me at all. After Mike had some knock-off Froot Loops and a biscuit so dry it crumbled to nothing in his hand, we went out for a real breakfast. I will happily go out of my way and stay at Brackley Beach North Winds from now on, and just drive into town.

The staff was extremely courteous and seemed as if genuinely happy that you were there and they were able to serve you. They have a pool, fitness center, plentiful breakfast, and complimentary cookies and Internet. The rooms were clean and had a refrigerator if which we could keep fresh snacks and drinks. We would definitely stay here again.
