Don’t miss this place! One of those places where everything is perfectly seasoned. I had the daily Mac and cheese special and also tasted the quiche. Loved both of them.

Quirky menu changes on a regular basis. Limited seating means you should get reservations. Staff are a off putting and not Island friendly. Pricey small portions are generally good to excellent.

All around, a great meal. The food was excellent, the cocktail selection was more than a little intriguing, and service was solid. They were CRAZY busy when we got there, so there were some fairly long waits between courses, but it was definitely worth the wait.

One those dinners on a biz trip that you don’t tell your partner about. Three courses — and all were excellent. Carrot soup, halibut and crème brûlée. Complex tastes in each, but nothing overly complex in the preparation/delivery. Everything tasted as if chopped, caught and cooked in the previous few hours. I wasn’t a fan of their offered red glasses of wine, so the waitress popped a bottle that looked right. Friendly, educated service. The interior would need some work if this was located in a city, but its slight shabbiness was easily overlooked because of the the food. The biscuits that came with the soup. how could I forget those? Highly recommended if you’re way out here on PEI.

Excellent food, smily waitress, nice environment. I had the soup de jour … it was a very nice pumpkin soup wit goat cheese and also eat the Mac-and-cheese de jour which in this case was vibrant, delicious and was served with a very fresh salad. Good contrast I for sure I’ll return.

While on vacation in Charlottetown, we stumbled on this restaurant and liked it so much we went back a second time. We sat outside on the patio one lovely night and sat inside on a somewhat cooler night — both were nice. The evenings start out with a small little bite from the chef to whet your appetite — unique and interesting flavors. Between the two of us, we had a lobster mac & cheese, smoked chicken breast, halibut, and mussels — everything was delicious and included a fine selection of wines. Highly recommend Terre Rouge!

Another high-ranking spot on many Best Of lists, we stopped by Terre Rouge for lunch. Ranked second place on Chef Michael Smith’s list of local favourites, I’m sort of surprised that it didn’t bump it’s way to the very top. Although lunchtime meant a pared-down menu, there was still ample variety which had us debating our selections for a good 10 – 15 minutes before making our decisions. ‘Cause, hey, picking deliciousness is serious business, no? I went for the roasted bone marrow while my partner went for the house cured, locally sourced charcuterie and cheese plate. Though I wish my bone marrow had more marrow in it, the little spoonfuls that I did have were tasty. Served with crisp toasties, the bone marrow was flanked by flavourful spoonfuls of raspberry gastrique and a pickled tomato. The charcuterie plate changes depending on the cured goods on hand, and the standout for me was the lamb sausage. Like teensy slices of pepperoni, the overwhelming flavour of lamb in each tiny slice was a surprise. In the wise words of Fergie Ferg, how’d you get all that junk inside that trunk?! We finished our meal by splitting a house made gelato. Flavours are available on a chalkboard by the coffee bar. We had buttermilk, which was unfortunately a little frostbitten. Next time, I’d try another flavour. With the friendly and helpful service and delicious dishes, we hope«next time» will come soon!

My partner and I are visiting Charlottetown, and we stopped by last night for dinner. The food was excellent, the service was attentive and polite, and the cocktail menu was delicious. We shared the cheese and charcuterie board, and the portions were very generous. The charcuterie meats are all cured in house, and are delicious and fresh. We also shared roasted pork belly– yum! If I’m ever back in Charlottetown, I would definitely consider returning.

Loved the mushroom toast and the marrow bone. The cod tongues were surprisingly good. Also liked the pork belly. Nice vibe and knowledgable and friendly staff.

We had an amazing experience here. We(2 adults, 2 children) shared many plates. We shared the soup du jour, the breads and spreads, the beet salad, mussels with bacon cream sauce, mushrooms on toast and the panzenella. Each plate was amazing an had us fighting over the last bites! We shared the salted caramel sundae and crème brûlée – the gelato in the sundae was the best I’ve ever had! We can’t wait to dine her again.

A bit on the pricey side, however the food are excellent. I had the seafood sub which has lobster, shrimp and others mixed with a mild sauce toped with three deep fried oysters and a salad. So good, decent wine selection. Service was good too.

The good: This felt like a hipster spot with a lot of different things going on that seemed to work – a charming outdoor patio/entrance, front deli display with meats, cheeses, chocolates, and prepacked foods, and a warm casual eating area with chalkboard walls in the back near the kitchen. I was a little disappointed that my beer of choice(the local blueberry ale) was out, but our server recommended a nice replacement. The meh: I ordered a veggie sandy that didn’t quite hit the spot – my friends’ meat dishes seemed to be satisfactory though. We also got an amuse-bouche – crab? cake that was a lovely pre-dinner treat. I will probably splurge for one of their larger, pricier plates next time. Would I return? If I’m back in Charlottetown and looking for a nice place to eat, it could happen.

A very nice and good place for lunch. A chowder very rich in seafood(although the soup itself is too watery for my taste and lacks some spices), some of the best mussels(= best wine sauce) I had in PEI, and delicious home made ice creams(caramelia and hazelnut are the best!!). Lobster rolls are OK, not more than that.

Great find. If you ever find yourself in Charlottetown make a point of coming to Terra Rouge. Highly PLT(pancetta, lettuce & tomato(heirloom tomato at that). Tomato jam. Nancy reports that the Potato crab cakes were especially good. Homemade baked beans and mustard pickled relish. Organic and local fare.

Welcome addition to the Ch’town restaurant scene. Pretty amazing. Excellent food, ingredient-centric. Amuse bouche of gravlax-like halibut, pork torchons(oh my word was that good), arctic char(with what the server accurately described as the world’s best potato chip,) the lamb– we loved every bite. The entire meal was delicious and a refreshing break from the usual local fare. Service was lovely and the atmosphere was casual and friendly. Will definitely return. Not to be missed. A standout in the best possible way.

A lovely spot. I had lunch here. Pulled pork sandwich with greens was excellent. Peanut butter brule was very nice, though I couldn’t really taste the peanut butter. The service was friendly but a bit erratic, which I attribute in part to the layout(a large square around a central display of their cheeses, etc, with the kitchen in the back – means the servers can’t always see/hear the kitchen in the back). But that said, I’d go back to try some of the other things on the menu. Well worth a visit. So I went back for supper, same day. This time I had the beet salad(wonderful), and the bangers and mash. They had a slightly fancier name for it, which I don’t remember, but what I do remember is the taste – fantastic. They serve Gahan beer on tap, which is an added plus. Supper is a bit pricey I have to say(lunch was much more reasonable), but the taste and presentation made it worthwhile. I gave it four stars for lunch(as above), and five for supper(the only drawback, again, being the price). But you really should try it. You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve been to this restaurant twice now and plan to return. My first meal was the Chowda & Biscuits. It’s perfect if you are looking for a small portioned meal with different types of seafood. Meal #2 included the Crispy Pork Torchon(pictured) & the Chocolate Torte(pictured) with a glass of Malbec ‘Broquel’. Again, another small portion meal but the Torchon was delicious! The Chocolate Torte had a strong strawberry flavor that was a little too potent for my taste. A little less strawberry mouse on top and it’d be perfect. Wine was excellent! The staff are very friendly and informative. A free sample of something the chef was putting together was provided both times I went. It’s a cute venue and I’d definitely recommend visiting if you haven’t been before. It can get pricey quickly but it’s good food.
