In the ‘wack for a work related matter and a co-worker highly recommended Maru Sushi so we stopped by for lunch. I like the way the room is broken into booths that provide a level of privacy. The room looks clean and fresh. The staff were attentive and pleasant. I ended up ordering one of the Bento boxes… it came with tempura, sashimi, teriyaki, salad and soup. It was all quite tasty though the sashimi portions were quite small. I did enjoy the dressing on the salad which is most often not the case in my experiences with sushi establishments. It was a positive food experience and can recommend Maru Sushi.

40 minutes and only got water, never even asked to take our oder. I would have left after 15 minutes but others wanted to stay and see how long it would take them… Once starvation set in, we left.

We ordered a take-out meal by phone and were told to come and pick it up in 20 minutes. We arrived on time but, in fact, the staff had somehow«lost» our order, and then proceeded to tell us that we had not called it in. What — did I hallucinate the phone call?! I don’t think so! Anyway, we had to wait another 20 minutes for them to make up a new order. What a mistake. We should have just left when they declared our order to be lost/missing/not even ordered. The food was expensive and barely average. I am fussy about sushi — after all, one is consuming raw fish — and found there to be a strong fishy taste which was disagreeable. One thing I know from decades of eating sushi is that it shouldn’t smell overly fishy — a strong sign the fish is not fresh. Would not eat here again.

I would consider this restaurant to be just average for a vegan and sushi. The atmosphere, location, and setting are all 5 stars. The food was just ok. Their best item in my order was the veggie sonomono salad. Good presentation and flavour, but they didn’t incorporate the veggies at all into the dish, and they were stale. The miso soup was ok. The vegetable roll was pretty spartan, and the rice very dry. A couple had to beg for the server to come over to their table after waiting for at least 10 minutes. We were the only customers there, though they were working on a number of take aways. I would not be likely to return or to recommend them. Sorry. My rating is actually 2.5.

Ordered a 15 piece of vegetable and seafood tempura, among other things. Instead, we had received a bunch of dried out«chicken tempura» mixed into the batch. They also managed to throw in some«salmon tempura» for good measure. Both the chicken and the salmon had been previously cooked. Both lacked in taste and were tough to chew on. Never had anything like this before. It felt like we were eating left overs deep fried in a tempura batter — drier than a Sahara desert. Whatever happened to scallops, calamari, crab or eel? Concerns were raised with the staff but we were told this was not chicken — it was tuna. Really? … Be careful what they serve you. All of a sudden this place has lost a lot of appeal to me. PS. Miso soup has no green onions or tofu in it. You need to pay extra for that.

Not bad for Sushi in Chilliwack, highly recommended. Good ambience and fresh assortment of nigiri and sashimi.
