While in Collingwood for a spa weekend my friends and I decided that we needed to get the brunch munchies out of the way. Thanks to Unilocal we came across this place. For a Saturday morning it wasn’t busy which we were happy about. The menu is fairly simple and it includes some delicious sounding items — with lots of duck confit or duck bacon. I ordered the eggs with duck bacon and hash. It was delicious– the duck bacon was crispy and just salty enough and very flavourful — where have you been all my life?! This restaurant also has a small store in the back so you can purchase some local items(I didn’t take a good look but it looked like spreads/jams etc) The server was very friendly and attentive and spoke with us a bit about when she found out we were from Toronto. I would definitely come back here to try some of the lunch(duck burger!) items(they were sold out when we were there unfortunately) Parking on the street or side street is available.

LOVE this place. The brunch is AMAZING. I love the use of eclectic menu items on classic dishes. The duck benny is incredible, but so is the classic breakfast. I love the way they redecorated after taking over from Café Chartreuse — it’s a nice reimagination of the space. Another gem in Collingwood!

One of the best burgers I have ever had, the Boar breakfast burger was so good my girl wanted to eat it out of hand. We are so glad we stopped in for a bite. Full of flavour, juicy, and hand made in house, if you are in the area you need to stop in and give it a try!!!

Partly because you’re a small town bistro with modern way way way way out there flavors. C’mon now, lamb, boar, bison and camel. Forget chicken, forget turkey and forget beef. If you’re coming here, you might as well try the things you won’t be able to avail where you came from. I’m from Detroit, where people like to eat chicken fingers and fried potato sticks smothered in ranch. Yea, exciting huh? I did the Camel, and my fiancé did the lamb. The Camel had some big big big flavors, the cheese and the chutney, paired with the gaminess of the meat was actually pretty good. The lamb, tasted like gyro meat patty. It was literally like having a gyro burger. It was very delish and pleasant. The shop was really nice, it had some cow hide for décor. They have some spots with chalkboard paint as well, I take it they write the specials down on it. Plus I love their big high tables. The service is great and the food is absolutely amazing. next time I’d go for the Boar. Weeeeeeeee!

This afternoon my husband and I thought we would try the Butchers Bistro. I wanted breakfast and he was interested in the game menu. We walked in and the server came over to us. There was only one table available, a four seater, and so she said if we wanted to wait about 5 minutes a table would likely become available in that time. We stepped outside as the seating is in close quarters and a little tight, and waited 5 minutes. In the mean time, two people came in and sat themselves at the table that had come available but had not yet been cleaned. The same waitress walked over, cleaned the table and continued to serve them. Assuming she had mistakenly thought we had left, we decided to wait inside this time as she said again that another table was finalizing their bill. Another couple walks in right past us as we are again waiting for the table to be cleared and seats themselves at that table. Frustrated, we turn and walk out of the restaurant. The waitress ran out after us saying she was willing to make the other couple move, but at that point I had lost all interest in that restaurant. To be clear, the server was not my issue, the dysfunctional storefront and staff shortage was my problem. Had there been somebody on the door to accommodate customers as they came in the line wouldn’t have been cut, and during the downtime at the door that same person could have been clearing tables making it easier for the server and also making a more relaxed atmosphere for the customers.

Excellent post-NYE brunch with the fam! Quality ingredients all sourced locally, tasty and very affordable eats, and the onsite butcher shop and grocery selection is phenomenal. The classic breakfast was both delicious and fairly priced, $ 12 for the classic breakfast is a steal and I could have easily paid twice as much for similar or worse food in the BM Village or Toronto. Friendly management, service was a bit slow but since it was NYE weekend and were a party of 10 I’ll give them some slack there. They have a very informative website with mission statement and menus posted, this place is a must hit for any future trips to Blue Mountain or Wasaga Beach!

Awesome brunch! How about that for a start. I ordered the Ducklit with poached eggs and delicious hollandaise sauce. My wife Linda ordered the classic breakfast with crispy bison bacon. The coffee or tea is «bottomless». Great service. They have in store selection of sausages and various cuts of game meats. I will visit them next time i am in Collingwood to sample their famous burgers.

We ordered the Bistro Classic breakfast with wild boar bacon and gluten free bread. Everything was excellent, coffee was good as well. The look inside is modern but with a country feel, nice old ceiling, lots of character. Open concept. They sell all kinds of different meats like wild boar, duck, kangaroo, elk and venison burgers and sausages, salami and pepperettes etc… If your looking to try different kinds of meat they have it! They have a liquor license with a variety of beers. If you want to buy local art they are displayed all over the restaurant, it gives the place a good look very interesting. And an outdoor patio(small) to enjoy the summer weather.
