We booked a cottage for the New Year celebration(from Dec 30 to Jan 2). The advertisement on their website stated«2 bedrooms with queen size beds and 2 bedrooms with double beds.» There were indeed 2 bedrooms with queen size beds, but the rooms with the double beds should not have been called bedrooms. We were«fortunate» to stay in one that was directly under the stair case. This room had 1 bed, 1 mirror on the wall, 1 night table and 4 hooks on the wall. Even with how tiny the room was, there was still some space to put some kind of storage device for clothes. We had to keep all our stuff in the bags on the floor. What a mess. The bathroom. There weren’t even any hooks to put the towels on.(Something simple like over the door hanger could have solved that). There was no cabinet to put things like cream/shampoo/toothbrush/etc. The hot tub was scorching hot and it was very difficult to adjust the temperature. Also even when it was«off» it kept making noise. The«fully equipped» kitchen was alright, but all the knives were so dull, you’d have better luck cutting things with a rock. The living room area was actually very nice and the dining table was big enough for 8 people. Location of the cottage was great. We were able to enjoy the New Year fireworks straight from the porch. So the bottom line is, a lot more could have been done to make this particular cottage more pleasant and comfortable to stay in, especially considering the price.

i took my wife here on her 30th birthday which also happened to be the day i proposed to her, which ALSO happened to be the day she accepted. so in celebration we drove up to the town of blue mountains, collingwood, ontario and shacked up in a chalet for a few days that was gargantuan. it was way more than we needed, but it looked the nicest, and i couldnt have cared all that much about money at that point. i was a little nuts that day. anyhow, the particular chalet we stayed in was #162 and the lady who booked us in it was very nice, giving me a special deal to help me out on that special day. for about 2.5 days it was about 360 bucks. not cheap but for a great cause. we luxuriated in an octagonal whirlpool all decked out in nice stained and polished wood. we lounged on the spacious couches, shot a game or two of pool on the table downstairs and did… some…other…stuff. ahem. the only glitch was that there was periodic blackouts when we were there so we would be all nice and bubbly in the whirlpool and then it would suddently fizzle out and we would have to walk around looking for candles, etc. or more like a flashlight… maybe we used our cellphones… dont remember.(who expects a blackout?) anyhow for a special getaway its a great place.
