I’ve been here several times and I do enjoy it most of the time. I tried the noodle soup, fried rice, hot stone bowl menu set and even the daily special. One time we orders the steak and lobster with mash potatoes and the potatoes were cold and last time I ordered kimchi fried rice but it came out soggy. Maybe the kitchen was in a rush, however the other times I went, I was very happy with the food. I am a regular there and I will continue to go back. Most of the servers are nice.

Worst customer service ever by management! We actually left the restaurant and didn’t eat our food. This is my first Unilocal review and unfortunately it had to be a negative one. We ordered a laksa noodle soup(where you get to pick the broth, type of noodle & toppings) and another dish. The laksa soup didn’t look right as it was neon yellow. We’ve had laksa at a few different places, including at M café in the past, so we definitely know what laksa soup should look and taste like, and this wasn’t it. It tasted like curry! We asked the waitress if that was laksa soup and she seems unsure since the colour of the soup was off. She took our food to the kitchen to check and was told that they had a few complaints that their laksa soup was too spicy so they decided to tweak it. We told the waitress it didn’t taste good and that there was no laksa taste at all. She offered to get us the menu so we can pick something else. She came back with no menu, however with a message from the manager saying that we can not order anything different on the menu except for another noodle soup. The only thing they could do is to change the kind of broth. That’s absolutely ridiculous! We explained to her that we didn’t like any other kind of broth and would prefer to order a rice or fried noodle dish instead(this would’ve cost more than the noodle soup anyway) but she said no it wasn’t her decision. We asked if they were just going to dump out the laksa broth and reuse the ingredients with another broth and she said no. Somehow I doubt that. It made no sense. If they were going to discard the entire bowl of noodle soup why won’t they allow the customer to choose anything on the menu but rather restricting to order only noodle soup, unless they were going to reuse the ingredients. Long story short, the waitress went to get the manager since she has no authorization. We once again explained to the manager what they’re doing is unacceptable. He didn’t say anything except telling us that it is their version of laksa. Needless to say we got up and left and won’t be coming back. Ever!

My opinion: Its a knock off of Copa Café. Slightly less flavorful than Copa, but much quicker service time. Tho, they didn’t smile once. They also have this buffet option, but it looked a bit skeptical. Their linguini bolognaise still hits the spot tho :) Sweet asian spaghetti! Don’t order theri seafood bisque. It was just a salty, fishy thingy. Was not a fan. Probably will come again, because its asian comfort food. Maybe when sushi town has a super long wait :)

I met some friends here on a Friday night. We were able to get a table for four right away around 7:40pm. The menu is quite extensive but a lot of the food seems quite random. The menu was also all over the map in terms of organization. With so many menu options, it would help if they could provide some photos of some of the more common food items like other restaurants do. In the end, my wife ordered the kimchi fried rice and I had a laksa noodle combo. The kimchi fried rice was mediocre. I guess it was a dumb idea to get a Korean dish at a Hong Kong café. No need to get that again. On the other hand the noodle combo(I got it with satay beef and fishballs) was delicious. My friend also ordered the same but she complained that it was way too spicy. Mine was quite spicy but not to the point that I couldn’t eat it. I don’t know if they put in extra chili paste in hers but unfortunately it was too spicy that she didn’t even come close to finishing. Service was actually surprisingly attentive all night. We requested some extra bowls and additional glasses of water and the staff were quick to bring them. However, the restaurant was quite cold inside which was a bit unpleasant.

HK style ‘café’ restaurant. They do all the same dishes as the other HK places. Been there 3 times now… Food service ok, tastiness can vary by dish… Meat content of dishes was a bit skimpy on all occasions. Not sure if I’d go back… Nothing really bad about the place but nothing to really bring me back.

This HK style café offers a lot of varieties. You can eat both western and Chinese food here. I usually have lunch with my family on Saturday. We have a good experience at this restaurant so far, so I would highly recommend it to others(for those who live in Tri-cities) and visitors from Vancouver, Richmond and Burnaby. This restaurant does not do a lot of promotions but it is quite successful that there are a lot of customers to go for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant is busy but the waiters and waitresses do not rush you to eat, pay and leave. The portion of each dish is reasonable(not too small or too big). Prices are average comparing to other HK style cafes out there in Vancouver and Richmond. Also, there are lots of tables, so we rarely have to wait for seats. Waitresses and waiters are friendly. One more good thing about this restaurant is that many dishes have mini(small) and regular sizes for lunch and dinner. Many HK cafes in Greater Vancouver only offer mini dishes for lunch. Note: this restaurant accepts cash and Visa card only. They do not accept MasterCard. I like this restaurant personally! :)

Restaurant was packed and busy. Short staffed. We didn’t want to wait so didn’t hesitate to grab more tea, cutlery, utensils. So three stars for service. Food was about four stars. We ordered a variety of things and were pleasantly surprised. Ended up ordering way too much food because the server said we didn’t order enough. Not!

I thought it was great. There are some standout dishes. Service for me was faster than what I get in Richmond. I like how clean and new the interior feels.

Came here for breakfast. Restaurant atmosphere is nice, no where near feeling like a HK styled restaurant.(Lol of course, it used to be a steak house, and before that was frogstone) I like the fact the restaurant is nice and comfy. Doesn’t have any of the«smell» of the kitchen in a lot of Chinese restaurant. Service was prompt, fast, and I got my food fairly quickly. I ordered the chicken steak with sausage. Chicken steak is a bit salty to my tasting but otherwise is good, well, marinated with Maggie’s. Well more like this is OK to come if I don’t feel like making breakfast at home. Coffee — western styled brewed coffee only has 1 refill. Keep that in mind! Overall I’d give it a 4 star partially because of the service. When I was there in the morning, there are only 2 servers but they were nice. Food is just typical HK styled 茶餐廳 food. I am just glad there’s another one in Coquitlam other than Copa Café. At least there’s a choice now!

This is one of my favourite places for a meal in Coquitlam. It has a roomy, comfy atmosphere, good choice of dishes on their menu and service is always friendly. I like the Tonkatsu soup, double boil soup set and sizzling plate dishes, with the choice of either large or regular on some options. Items are so reasonably priced that my husband and I make it a point to visit at least once a week. The waiters are all very friendly too, and 3 of them came out to help us when our car broke down outside. That is service with a smile! Yes, I’m a fan!

I think most of the reviews here complained about service — for me it was OK! Food came out a little slow but acceptable and food quality was good. By good I meant ‘a-ok, average, not bad.’. Deserves a try, and seating is comfortable so its a bit roomier than Copa.

We went for breakfast one Sunday morning. Food was good, price was decent — your typical Chinese eatery. The interior is actually more decorated than most Chinese restaurants and because we went a bit earlier than normal(930 am) it was relatively quiet.

Terrible service. We sat waiting for over 15 minutes. The menu was unappetizing and I enjoy the quirkiness of Hong Kong style cafes. The amount of confusion and not-give-an F was way too high. The staff didn’t even say anything to us on our way out. Other patrons were continuously looking around wondering where their food, tea, server was. What a mess!

Back to M Café dine with my co-workers, total 15 people, we order some same dishes and different one, everybody is so happy with the food, no complaint, especially the Braised Lobster Meat with Linguini with Lobster Sauce, that is perfect taste, also the Seafood Fried Rice with Spicy Shrimp Paste and Hainanese Chicken, we can’t stop to eat them, everything on the table is all finished. We Re so happy with bill, price is so reasonable not expensive when compare with other similar restaurants but not that tasty Lo. We will go again and again frequently. Hope everybody can enjoy all their tasty food.

Date Visited: March 14, 2015 Food ordered:(1) Baked seafood on rice,(2) Linguini with lobster sauce(listed on the menu as «baked seafood on rice with lobster sauce). We were informed of the«typo» on the menu when we ordered but I decided to try it anyways. The baked seafood on rice is almost identical to Copa Café’s dish(rice, scrambled eggs, shrimp, mussel, fish, small scallops, topped with white sauce), but with less sauce, which made it a dry dish. I prefer this dish to be saucy. For the linguini, we were told that they were out of shrimp so it was just linguini, lobster, mushroom, onion, and sauce. I had one bite of the linguini and immediately wish I had ordered the baked seafood on rice for myself instead, usually my staple. My husband was kind enough to switch dishes half way. Unfortunately, the baked seafood was equally unpleasant. While the baked seafood dish had a sufficient amount of sauce, both dishes lacked seasoning and were quite bland. Service: Quick service and attentive staff. Our food arrived quickly, about 5 minutes after we ordered. Atmosphere: Nice décor. The restaurant was quiet despite it being about half full. Thoughts: While M Café has similar menu, price, and portions as Copa Café, Copa has better food. I wanted to give a rating of 1, but husband wanted to give it a 2. Return?: No, not unless they improve the quality of food.

Went to Mcafe last week with a group of friends, we ordered some fried rice and baked pork chop. Everything was good and the service was excellent! Managers and staffs are really nice to every single customers there. Will definitely go back again and try the rest of the items on the menu! :)

Terrible overall. Food was not good at all. They used wrong ingredients and tried to not admit. Ordered the Hainanese Chicken and it wasn’t even close to what it is supposed to taste like. It was a rip off, just a nasty plate of boiled chicken.(海南雞飯完全唔得. 其實係白切雞, 又’鞋’又難食. 加幾位花生就話係海南雞) Ordered the Shanghainese noodles. It was actually just a soya sauce pan fried udon. Sorry this is unacceptable. If u cannot use proper ingredient, then don’t put it on the menu. We asked the owner if we received the correct dish. He says we did, so we asked how come it is made out of udon. He first denied then he says all another Chinese restaurants does it. Sorry!!! That is NOT the case. I looked around, so many other tables have issues. N we clearly see that ppl had left overs because food wasnot good, not because portion was big. Service was terrible too. Took long for everything — To place the order, to get food, n to even get the bill. Owner is rude and does not welcome feedbacks. This is NOT how a Hong Kong style café should run. Dishonest food and poor service. definately not going back.
