In a recent false alarm pregnancy scare, I frantically typed in «pregnancy test coquitlam» into Google, and this popped up. I remembered seeing it on my bus ride home, so I decided to drop in. The location is semi-hidden. The sign is clearly visible from Austin, but the entrance is around the other side on Ridgeway. But it doesn’t end there! The ‘Pregnancy Concerns’ sign is located directly above a smaller, side door, which appears to be the entrance. It isn’t! Go through the double doors directly left, walk down the corridor and turn the corner. Sneaky, sneaky. It’s a tiny office, with a desk, and a couple rooms. I was greeted warmly by three ladies, my coat taken, and offered a glass of water, putting me at ease in this uncomfortable situation. I was sat down in a small room to go over my medical history, thoughts and feelings about the possible pregnancy, and whatnot. After which, a simple urine test was administered to test for pregnancy. Pregnancy Concerns offers free pregnancy testing, as well as peer counselling, post-abortion support, and assistance in finding other support services should you require them. They also offer helpful information and resources for all of your options, whether it be abortion, adoption, or if you choose to raise the child yourself. Despite the scary circumstances, I had a good experience here. The ladies who work here are professional, knowledgeable, and caring. This is definitely an important resource for women, and we’re lucky to have such a place in our community.
