This place is over priced. The food was ok but not worth the expensive price tag. I would not eat here again. There were only a few people in the place and I can see why. I could have got a better Greek salad at the Safeway deli down the street.

Definitely decent. Nice modern décor, quality food with great presentation and consistently good service. Their Greek food is top notch but their menu selection is more than just Greek and it contains many other offerings. Worth checking out if you are looking for a restaurant with a little extra.

It doesn’t happen very often that I get a hankering for Greek food, but last week I would have killed for a Greek salad. I did a search for local restaurants because the one I normally go to(once every few years) is closed for renovations. Sokela was the best reviewed of the ones closest to me. Apparently the reason that I don’t crave Greek food that often is because I’ve had crappy versions of it before now. I can’t fault any of the food that I ate. There was one thing lacking, but I’ll get to that. The restaurant was very clean and modern looking, with a warm feeling. We were greeted immediately by the hostess who was wearing a rather tiny cocktail dress. Made me feel a bit under-dressed. :) We started with the kalamari. It was lightly breaded and fried to perfection. The tzatziki sauce was very nice. This is from someone that doesn’t care for tzatziki… or at least I didn’t. :) The breading stayed crisp throughout and didn’t get soggy/greasy like I’ve had it at some places. Denise had the chicken souvlaki as her main and I went with the lamb souvlaki. Her chicken was nice, but paled in comparison to my succulent, perfectly prepared lamb. Melt in your mouth goodness. I rather enjoyed my rice pilaf and roasted potato, but would have like the tater to be a bit more roasted to brown up the edges a bit. The side of Greek salad was the first to fall to my flying fork(and half of Denise’s too). Tasty. The dessert menu is where we come up against my one real issue with this restaurant. Where are some of the signature Greek desserts that I was looking forward to? No Baklava? –sigh– Oh well… The chocolate bundt cake was quite tasty and very chocolaty. The raspberry sauce drizzled on the plate was nice and tart. A thumbs up. This was, by far, the best experience I’ve had with Greek food. Everything I’ve had until now has been mediocre or worse. Can’t wait to have that lamb again. Maybe next time I’ll go for the roast lamb instead of the souvlaki…

Nice little restaurant located off of Blue Mountain and Austin. I had the Lamb Souvlaki, and it was very tasty! The service was prompt, and it was an enjoyable dining experience!

Used an expiring Groupon tonight, and there seemed to be a lot of us last-minute guys doing it so the place was packed and we had to wait a bit to get our food. But the delicious entrees more than made up for the wait. The mushroom ravioli I had was sublime, and my wife kept on repeating how good her maple glazed salmon was. The entrees were so good that the deserts(crème-brule and tiramisu) couldn’t quite measure up. Our server was friendly and apologetic about the wait — nothing she can do about the big crowd. My wife and I are definitely coming back.

This is a place I am grateful to have been shown, as it’s somewhere that I would have never gone to on my own. I’m not much of a sit-down dinner type of girl, and I usually dine alone, so these types of restaurants usually get ruled out for me. When I got there, the restaurant was practically empty, so we had our choice of table. The interior was clean, and the décor modern and classy. Definitely your choice spot for a romantic dinner. Table for two by the window? Cue string quartet. SIGH. Man-friend and I ordered the saganaki to start, which is pan-fried heaven. From the very beginning, it was love at first bite. Lactose intolerants, run and hide! Cheese lovers, this delicious appy will have you begging for more. Think all the comfort and delectability of a grilled cheese sandwich, without the bread. Nothing is better than melted cheese, and the Greek don’t mess around. For mains, my dining counterpart ordered the chicken souvlaki, and I the roast lamb. Entrees come with all the sides expected from this cuisine, greek salad, rice pilaf, roast potato, pita and tzatziki. I will say that the rice and potato were a little on the bland side. But the lamb. Mmm. Juicy and tender and wonderful. Thinking back on it, I’m really unsure how my friend’s souvlaki turned out, as clearly I am the better orderer therefore I only focus on the amazingness on my own plate. A pleasant dining experience, and a good place to charm your lady.

Awesome in all aspects! We went there with a groupon deal and we were treated like the queen of England! Very tasty food and friendly polite servers. Their prices were also very reasonable. Although we had a groupon, even without it, it would be totally worth it. Thanks for hospitality :)

I have driven by this place many times, but we finally stopped by for an early dinner this week. The Greek food here was fairly priced and pretty good. We had the roasted lamb, the calamari dinner, and some mussels in cream sauce to start out with. The mussels were done well, and the hot complimentary bread is definitely needed to sop up the cream sauce. The calamari was fried and not greasy, and the lamb was served in a big portion. The service was just ok(new waitress), but didn’t detract too much from the dinner. It is nice to find a restaurant close to home in case I want to eat something besides Asian food.

This place is a hidden gem! We discovered it the other night and decided to walk up for some good ol’ greek food and I am SOGLAD we did. The place was empty on a Sunday around 7pm so we were kind of nervous but we stuck it out and it was so worth it. Friendly staff, great server and even better food! I had the chicken soulvaki and my boyfriend had the spaghetti and meatballs and they were both DELICIOUS. Great sized portions and good quality food. Very flavorful. I will definitely be going back!

Sokela is the new face of Alekos Greek Taverna… Sokela is Alekos spelled backwards… cute, eh? We arrived on Friday night at 5pm, and the place was virtually empty until we left at 6:30, which was a shame because our experience was quite good. Our server was attentive, friendly, and accommodating. I had the lamb shank, which was huge, delicious, and cooked just right with some delicious Greek potatoes and other Greek veggies. My friend had a burger, which he reported was ok. One highlight was the Lindeman’s Kriek on tap. Austin Heights isn’t known for fancy eatin’ — but Sokela’s is a jewel in its otherwise tarnished crown.
