What a great spot. I cannot wait to have kids of my own to share in the joy of a place like this. The girlfriend and I just popped in to see what was up and have already picked out a present for her nephew for next year(I don’t want to spoil it here for the parents who may read my reviews) but it’s gonna be amazing. They have some really affordable teddies for your choosing, and to their credit, they don’t really gouge unless you are looking to accessorize for the bear. It’s a fun spot for the kids, or inner kids in your life.

In advance: I’m a super cool person. Last Christmas, my boyfriend bought me a stuffed bunny from here. Her name is Rabpe, and she is filled with hugst. Sometimes on holidays, we go back and I buy her an adorable new outfit. Which is hard to do because there’s so many of them. Like, honestly, so, so many. They have costumes, and little uniforms, and now the bears can have bears and they can have clothes, so it’s only natural that they’ll soon have bears too. It’s an endless bear cycle. But I think it’s cute and I love my Rabpet, and I don’t care who knows it. If only it wasn’t often filled with children…

My boyfriend and I took his 5 year old daughter here this week as an early Christmas gift. Neither of us had ever been here so it was a new experience for the 3 of us. An employee told us the process and directed us on what to do. After picking out a bear and sound, we headed to the stuffing station where another employee interacted with my boyfriends daughter and got her involved with a chant. We cleaned off the bear and headed to the clothes. At this point we were becoming concerned of the prices… so we decided to skip the clothes for that day and come back another time. The cost is steep to build a bear… clothes costing $ 12.00 and above, plus bear underwear, shoes, etc, can end up costing more than the actual bear(which cost us $ 40.00 with tax). The experience is what matters for the kids though, parents make sure you have some extra money to spend when coming here! Side note: we did go back for clothes and spent $ 22 for a dress($ 15) and bear underwear($ 4), we passed on the bear shoes, but they gave us some free«hair» bows to go with it.

These guys do a great birthday party! The 4 and 5 year olds clearly had a blast! My little guy, at 2.5, was probably a bit young for a group effort. He enjoyed the process, but was very distracted during the waiting. The bear process includes selecting a bear, helping to stuff it, fluffing it in an air bath, choosing the bear’s heart, inserting it with a bit of magic, sewing him up and making a birth certificate.(And dressing it, if you desire.) They throw in a few extra touches for the birthday parties. The bears are very sweet, and not as overpriced as I imagined. There are some for every price point, really, especially if you can keep yourselves out of the clothing and accessories part of the store.

Fun, colorful and friendly staff! This store is a lot of fun! But I still don’t know why we have to stuff our own animals when we end up paying roughly the same price we would for an animal that is already stuffed. But it is fun, I will say that. What surprised me when I walked into the store was how instantly happy I was. The music that was playing throughout the store was great, the store itself was well laid out and put together and the staff were the friendliest anyone could be before becoming annoying. The staff deserve the final star or two simply because they were friendly, helpful, attentive and looked like they actually liked or even loved their job! So important especially in a kids store. Build-A-Bear is what the title suggests. A teddy bear making store. Its easy, fun and the kids love it. I’m really happy there is one in the Mic Mac Mall and I hope they put one in the Halifax Shopping Centre because that mall is lacking in kids related stores. There simply isn’t much else to say except if you think you and your child would like to make a teddy bear together, then this is the perfect place to go! Bring twenty five dollars or so for the experience, but if you have that money to burn, its worth it!

What can I say about this wonderful place. My daughter completely loves this store. Of course she loves the bears but loves the staff as well! Michelle and her staff are very sweet and kind to my daughter when she comes in and that is why she loves going back again and again.
