How long does it take to cook fries. The place is empty and we ordered 25 minutes ago. Seriously. It’s fries and cheese. I can’t tell you what it tastes like, they won’t give us our food.

Had wanted to try here for a couple of years now, but only knew of the Pleasant Street location and am rarely in that part of Dartmouth. Once I realized there was one in Burnside, I had to try it for lunch on a spring Sunday. The place was not at all what I was expecting. It’s gigantic inside, and a two-in-one with Habanero’s. There was at least one kids’ birthday party going on, but with the size of the place, it didn’t matter. There is some seating as soon as you come in, and a staircase to more seating above, with a whole other huge room to the left. Lots of character and fun in the décor, especially in the room to the left that has cities(including Halifax) painted as murals on all the walls. A motif Halifax bridge is cute too, and the ceilings are HIGH. Hard to figure out what the capacity is, but it would hold many. You order your food at a counter from the center room and get a pager when yours is ready. Unfortunately, the staff somehow lost my order on this first visit, so I waited over 15 minutes for my take out order. I actually just assumed it would be this long of a wait, judging by the size of the crowd waiting for their orders, so I didn’t mind. Now that I know, I will pay more attention. Anyway, staff were very friendly. My veggie burger combo was delicious and very filling(curry infused lentil and bean patty wrapped in a Chinese spring roll skin, ketjap manis sweated bean sprouts, pickled onions and mango chutney, with whatever toppings you want.) I couldn’t actually finish the side poutine. I picked up a crispy Buffalo Chicken poutine for my partner at home, who’s a big eater, and he could only finish half. The order was $ 27, which is more than I’d normally spend on take-out, but I guess since there was so much food, it’s not that bad. I don’t see prices anywhere on their online menu. I’d get take out again anytime, although there’s nothing really healthy on the menu if you are looking for that.

Ah, Cheese Curds… I’ve gone to Cheese Curds a few times since I moved back to Halifax in March, and it is always the best burger/poutine experience. I went again on Friday night with my partner. He ordered the Legendary CC Porker, and I tried the weekly special, which was a Jerk Chicken burger. My burger was great, the chicken was perfectly spicy and the pineapple took the edge off. My partners CC Porker, he said was good, but a bit dry. Fries were perfectly cooked and hot out of the fryer. The service was particularly fast that evening so we only waited a few minutes for our order. Staff was great and friendly as always. We will be back, there’s no doubt about that!

Real good eats! And friendly service. Clean. Lots of places to sit including outside on a sunny day. And if you are with a group of choosy people — you’ve got the Habaneros to the right and Truckside service with several choices to the left. And good choice on drinks too!!!

Came here for a late lunch. left with a food baby. WOW. This place is delicious! I got the monza burger and bacon poutine. Good lord, was i in for a rude awaking. Putting a monza stick on a burger? Why haven’t i thought of that? Even the bun being a poppy seed bun, was delish! Usually i don’t eat the buns because i find it too filling but i figured that i would try it this time and I’m glad i did. The Poutine… even better! Personally i found the bacon alittle too much but it was sooo good! I will be back!

This place is amazing. I had the monster mozzarella burger. The bun and patty are perfect. There’s bacon and a mozzarella wedge on it. Mozzarella wedge is perfectly crisp on the outside and the cheese is high quality. They have so many different topics you can get. I got cilantro, lettuce, and a really great smokey chipotle mayo. My husband got the tnt burger. Super spicy. The poutine was great. Solid gravy and fries. Cheese curds are always great. Only giving it four stars because we waited a half hour for our food. They were really busy but that’s still a long time for burger and fries. Can’t wait to go back and try to Ruben!

I remember wanting to try Cheese Curds soooo bad; but my partner told me numerous times it wasn’t that good and too expensive. I shouldn’t have listened to him for as long as I did. When I finally went, I ordered the Hawaiian(Honolulu?) burger. It was spectacular — and, I ended up sharing it when my partner who… also loved it! I have gotten burgers a few times here since and they were all great — I really like their cheese curds sauce! The prices may seem on the high side but once you get your burger you’ll know why! They are totally worth the cost.

This is without a doubt in my mind the best burger joint experience I’ve ever had. The atmosphere of cheese curds is very upbeat and I love the pictures on the wall of the item on the menu. I wish more restaurants did this. This was my first experience with cheese curds and it didn’t disappoint. The food is fresh. The burger patties aren’t full of grease so that they soak through the bun… The selection of toppings and sauces is outstanding and the price for me… Cc porker and large onion rings… 20 $ yeah. It was worth the wait. Just like the employees T shirts say.

I have been here a few times. The food is good, but when it is busy, service is so slow. So slow that the staff shirts that indicate the food is worth the wait seem to be taunting you… slow. I have tried several variations of poutine, as well as the mozza burger and the schnitzel burger. I am never disappointed in the burgers — they are good with an excellent selection of toppings. For the poutine, I have not been a big fan of the curry sauce or the brandy sauce. The regular poutine is average and the taco poutine above average. The team that works at this location is fantastic. They are upbeat and friendly.

The service was great. They were helpful with the menu and even cooked the cheese curds like my wife wanted them, even though they were not on the menu. My wife had the taco pauline, which was good, but greasy. I had the Donar burger, which was a little sweet with the donar sauce and other toppings. The food was good, but definitely not good for you. We brought out baby and there was nothing for him to eat except for pieces of my pickle and tomatoes. If your looking for comfort food, this is the place, but you might want to do a few more miles on the treadmill the next day.

I went for the first time on Saturday and WOW. I didn’t think I would finish the Legendary CC Porker and poutine but it was so delicious I did it! I will be going back for sure again and again.

Ever see that family guy episode? Where brian’s eating chocolate: I LOOOOOOVE chocolate… but I can’t eat it ‘cuz then i’ll get fat… but it’s SOOOOOOOO good. This is my input on, yes chocolate, but BURGERS. Here’s the kicker though; even though i’m on the constant hunt for burgers, when I walked through the doors of Cheese Curds. I REALLY wanted a, wait for it, hot dog :3 I love the atmosphere of this place, it’s clean and fresh with bright colours and a metal woman hanging from the ceiling. The service is superb, the guy at the register was very nice and went through the menu with me. Way better then most places that get pissed when you ask for no pickles. You are given a number and a buzzer. The thing will flash some red and vibrate and that’s your cue to retrieve your meal. I’m not sure if the process I got is the same for the burgers but the dude asked me what I wanted on my hot dog and they put it on for you, right in front of you — subway style. And there’s a nice variety of toppings to choose from. Fries? HANDCUT, PUREDEEP-FRIEDDELICIOUSNESS Hot dog? YUMMMM

Been here a few times now, mostly on the Habeneros side but this time decided to indulge in a gourmet burger and poutine. I love everything about this place. It’s close to work, lot’s of tables, clean, bright and you’ve got two great options in one place. The staff genuinely seem to enjoy working there, smiling, engaging people in conversation. Oh, and the food is great. I went on a Friday at lunch, pretty busy spot but I decided to get take out and was probably in and out in 15 minutes. The«themed» burgers are great but with so many options for toppings, I decided to get a plain 6 oz angus burger and create my own combination. Lots of fresh veg, in house relish and flavoured mayos to choose from. Even the large bun could not contain the yummy mess created. Ordered a side of poutine. Can’t beat hand cut fries, lots of squeaky cheese curds and tasty gravy. So nice to have this great option in Burnside.

While not my pick in the Burger Wars, Cheese Curds gets my #2 slot. I’ve enjoyed every burger I’ve had here(the one I got the last time with fried mozzarella in the middle was a thing of beauty), but am always hit-or-miss on the fries(sometimes soggy, but have improved over the last couple of years) and onion rings(good, but can sometimes be too salty). One of my gripes with the Woodside CC was the location(out of the way and parking can be tight). Also, I always found it really cramped. The new location solves these issues for me. I also appreciate that Habenero’s is under the same roof, as there are members of my family who like it more than CC, so this single location works nicely for us. The only thing I don’t like about CC is the service. There’s a particular guy who is very nice, but is so high energy and agressive with sales(and local contests, one time I was at the original location), that I always feel a bit drained after dealing with him. Otherwise, I’ve never had any issues.

I love Cheese Curds in Woodside, so when hubby suggested we try the one in Burnside I said«sure!» Was I ever surprised when I got there — there’s so much space! I didn’t even realize until after we ordered that there was a whole upstairs section! I had a burger with mushroom and spinach on it — I don’t think I’ve ever seen it at the other Cheese Curds, but I haven’t been there in a bit so maybe it’s new. Either way, it was delish! Hubby’s burger had a chunk of breaded and fried mozza on it! He was very pleased. We split onion rings — still the best onion rings I’ve ever had, and I’m sure it’s because of the honey! The order was pretty quick, they have beer there now(I didn’t partake this time, but I will definitely keep it in mind for the future), and the space was great. Definitely recommend it.

The second location is much larger than the original one which makes me think this one should be its main setting, however, it’s kind of tucked out of the way in the middle of Burnside. That tells me that either a. I’m out of touch with how significant Burnside is to the restaurant scene in HRM or b. I’m putting too much emphasis on Woodside as being one of the top new destinations for eating out in HRM. Whatever it is, I instantly like the inside to this location more than the Woodside one. Not only because it has two levels and lots of table space but because its sister restaurant is in the same building across the room. Sometimes one doesn’t want a burger but would rather have something from Habenaros, mexican food with a modern twist. While the original Cheese Curds was one of the first gourmet burger places to open during last year’s gourmet burger explosion, this one was one of the last, serving as a bookend to the burger wars. How does it stack up? I’m going to cheap out on this one and not answer. I can differentiate between the different burger places and, oddly enough, there is a time and mood for each one. Sometimes, I do want Cheese Curds and only Cheese Curds will do.

My mom invited me to lunch, and as she had heard me raving about the Woodside Cheese Curds, she decided we should try out their new Burnside location. While I loved the small charm of the original, I have to say that the high walls and bright space of this CC may have won first place. It’s so cheerful in here! The colours are amazing! The upstairs space would be killer for a party! I’m a big fan. Their taco bar is also housed in the same building, but this is all about Cheese Curds. Mom tried their Philly Cheese Steak burger and we both had the poutine. Her burger was loaded with tender meat, cheese curds, peppers, and it was as juicy as could be. It was hard for her to eat, but well worth the mess. We both loved the fries and the amount of cheese that had been crammed into the small. Only get a large if you haven’t eaten for days, this is a LOT of food! The gravy is thick, but could use a bit more flavour. It was a bit thin in taste for me, but I would still happily order it again. As this is a new location, there are hiccups to be expected. The registers refused to let us pay, but the staff was unconcerned. They allowed us to eat before bringing us back to try again, and they even took four dollars off for the inconvenience. It was a sweet gesture, and it just goes to show that looking out for your customers is what makes them happiest. That, and tons of melty, melty cheese.

First time at this, «now chain». This is the 2nd location in Dartmouth and was the 2nd day open when myself and a party of 5 came in for lunch. They seem to have the efficiency thing down to a science. Food was very tasty and everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the Triple bacon Poutine and my heart stopped. Leave your diet at home and live a little…;-) Recommended for sure.
