I happened upon this new business while walking my golden retreiver in Shubie Park the other day, and thought I’d look into it. A new family-run boat rental business has set-up shop on the Shubenacadie Canal, beside the Fairbanks Centre in Shubie Park. They offer canoe and kayak rentals by the hour(canoes for $ 12.00 per hour, kayaks for $ 15 per hour). They also offer discount packages/prepaid cards(5 rentals for $ 60.00, 6 rentals for $ 72.00, 10 rentals for $ 120.00), which have no expiry, as well as «Frequent Paddler» cards(10 rentals, get the next one free). The have: — 3(14ft) canoes — 3(8ft) kayaks — 2(9 ft) kayaks — 1 double kayak … as time goes on and the business builds, they plan to expand into paddleboats and other boats. Their schedule is as follows: — For July and August: Saturday/Sunday 8am-8pm, Mondays CLOSED, Tuesday-Friday 8am-7pm — In September: Saturday/Sunday(weekends only) 8am-8pm I am very impressed with this business! The canal is a great place to paddle, and it leads out to Lake Charles, which is a vast and beautiful lake. You can easily paddle around and back over a 2 hour period. I did it, now it’s your turn! Help support a local family with a local business, while enjoying one of Dartmouth’s hidden treasures.
