Service sucked! I walked in and there were two people there working on pizzas. One said hi then continued working. I stood there for five minutes without a word said to me. THEN another person walked in and the guys stops what he’s doing and asks her if he can help her. Then the phone rings and he ignores both of us. Then the driver comes in and they deal with him. I WALKEDOUT. A simple, ‘sorry, we just got a big order in’ or ‘we’ll be another five minutes before we finish up’ would have been appreciated and would have guaranteed my return. However that’s not what I got and there are plenty of other places around here to grab my supper at. Disappointed!

Great spot, very limited seating indoors, but their thin crust style reminded me of good times spent in Italy, finally some REAL pizza in Dartmouth. Service was great, personable, and very accommodating to food sensitivities my partner has. I highly recommend their«Winner, winner Chicken Dinner», the Brownie Ball, and Everything Square. A place NOT to skip on desserts. Oh — Bonus point for having local beer in the fridge, Propeller Organic, a great brew. Wine was a little to be desired(perhaps bottle opened too long?).

Mike and I knew very little about Piez Bistro before venturing in. On first blush it doesn’t look like much: just a hole in the wall with an obvious emphasis on takeout and only a few tables for people looking to eat in(like us). Fortunately the owner(?) went over the menu with us and we were pleasantly surprised at the wide variety they offer. With both gluten– and dairy-free options there is truly something for everyone. We both ordered a build-your-own pasta(we’re all about pasta). Their pasta is a gluten-free, quinoa-based short noodle and you absolutely could not tell the difference from«regular» pasta. I had pulled pork and assorted veggies with mine, and it was DELICIOUS. Mike had sausage and assorted veggies and was also DELICIOUS. We inhaled them! We brought home a couple of desserts and while Mike liked his, I was underwhelmed with my rocky road square. Piez has officially been added to our«great places to eat in Dartmouth» list.

I have to be perfectly honest, I wasn’t all that fond of Piez. Firstly, as a transit user it’s definitely not a practical location but location aside, I was impressed that they do offer several vegan items. Hubby and I decided just to order standard pizza. They offer a vegan topping which is a cheese alternative which was quite exciting. The wait was a bit lengthy but it was a busy spot so to be expected. We sat on the patio, which was nice but cramped. The staff was great, very friendly. Now for the pizza, let me state, neither my husband or I are really thin crust pizza fans so that alone was enough to not really do it for us. The pizza itself was not gross or unappetizing or anything but overall, it was just really darn bland. The vegan topping we were excited about tasted like nothing, the crunchy crust was like eating cardboard and even the sauce was bland. So the long and short of it is, neither of us are fans and we won’t be returning but seeing as how busy it is, I would say we are the minority so I wish them great success.

Great pizza, only topped by the extremely fantastic service. Lots of interesting options to experience. The best part is the truly healthy expression of comfort food. Always looking forward to Piez Bistro night! Well done!

I can’t wait to go back here. I do hope that it succeeds. It’s tucked away behind the bus depot on Portland Hills. Enough people go through there on a daily basis, I just hope they stop! It’s not a big place so take out is probably a more viable option if you are feeding a crowd. We started with the garlic fingers and they were amazing. Thin and crispy loaded with cheese and bacon and a delicious donair dipping sauce. We shared the Carne Pizza(to die for) and the root vegetable poutine(one of the daily specials). The poutine was like a never-ending bowl of food — and trust me, I wasn’t complaining. Everything was just smothered in gravy and cheese and it just got better and better the further into the bowl you go. The pizza was incredible. Full of flavour and toppings. We can’t wait to go back. ** I needed to update this because, YUM. I had their Breakfast Hash at the Alderney market this past weekend and it was INCREDIBLE.

Finally! a gourmet pizza place in Dartmouth! Thank you Piez!(Pronounced ‘pies’ not ‘pee-ez’ like some fancy people want to call it). Halifax has I don’t know how many, so it’s great to see one open up in Dartmouth. It’s a nice, cozy little restaurant. Last time I went there, had a nice chat with the owner. Most of their business is take out on Fridays and such. The menu is a bit small(pizza, salad, soup, dips, dessert, etc.) but I’d personally rather it this way. I’d much prefer a restaurant that only does a few things(and does them well) then offer the kitchen sink at mediocre quality. I walked in last time and one of the chefs was dancing to a song on the radio — I laughed and he was a bit embarrassed that I caught him mid-moves. But I was glad I did — this is right off the bat shows me that the employees genuinely like working here and it says much more that the owner was sitting at the front table. I already tried the Smoke hut, so today it was time to try the Carne. Got that bad boy and holy moly was it every good. And flavorful! The sausage in particular was well seasoned and generously spread on the pizza. Left feeling stuffed and will definitely be back again to try more of their menu. That will legitimately happen this week.

I have Celiac so any restaurant with fresh ingredients and Gluten Free is on my list in HRM to try. I absolutely loved the GF tuna pasta dish I bought today! Such great flavour and healthy for you, too! I will be going back as they have plenty of GF options.

Last weekend I hosted a surprise birthday party for my wife and Piez exceeded expectations! There were 10 of us on their patio for an evening of great food and drinks. When I contacted Piez about my idea she responded to me within minutes and wanted to meet with me. Heather(The Owner) wanted to what ever she could to ensure that the event over delivered. She asked about any food allergies or preferences and nailed it with special items available for low carbers in the group — we had one friend that was celiac and of course almost everything is gluten free at Piez or can be made gluten free. Every one raved about the«from scratch» taste of everything. Spinach and artichoke dip is crazy good — all the pizzas were highlights and others had items from the display case… overall a very positive experience. We have been here on a number of occasions, their meals are always fresh and Chef Leslie adds creativity to every dish. We have tried the brunch and know this — you will leave full! If you haven’t eaten pizza here you must try. My fave is the Smoke Hut! Thanks Piez for opening up in our community!

Not bad, but not great either. We got take out from here to give it a shot(2 small 9″ pizzas and a salad was $ 43). Pizzas were OK; toppings a bit bland on one, and decent on the other(smokehouse). The crust was a bit disappointing on both. Not deep pan, but it wasn’t really authentic neopolitan either(crust is much better at A Mano or Morris East). Also had a ton of cornmeal attached to it. Caesar salad had crackers instead of croutons. Piez seems better quality than your average Cole Harbour pizza joint, but just good enough to justify the high prices.

AWESOME! Piez Bistro really fills a void in the Dartmouth/Cole Harbour area. We came in here Saturday night around 8:00. There’s four of five table for dining in, which we did, but I think take out is their main operation. There’s a menu posted on the wall along with a salad case with delicious looking options to add on, most of which if not all were gluten free. We had the spinach and artichoke dip which was really good and came with lots of different items for dipping. Then we had the Portland Hills Centre pizza. Topped with pulled pork, roasted red peppers, cheese and a yummy chipotle crème, it was amazing. We loved every bite of our meal here and really enjoyed the friendly service and staff who took the time to chat with us about the variety of choices. I highly recommend coming here to eat in or take out. I look forward to trying out their brunch sometime soon.

Fantastic! Great new chef! Lots of gluten free options. One place you definitely want to check out the daily special board! Pizzas are awesome. As are the meat pies and gourmet salads. My favourite pizza is the Carne. And the desserts alone are worth the trip! Peanut butter pretzel bars are insanely yummy!

Visited this spot last night and enjoyed the Fresca Pizza — artichokes, spinach, goat cheese and lemon… it was fabulous on a delicious thin crust. The place is small — seats about 12 or 14 — service was great, very friendly. One of the best pizzas I have ever had and there were leftovers for lunch. I will be back for sure.

This isn’t your mother’s pizza pie. Pleasantly surprised to find Chef Leslie Hull in the kitchen of this new Dartmouth eatery. A small but bright and cheery spot, it’s eat in or take out but with only 4 or 5 tables in a somewhat cramped space it’s geared more toward take-out. If you do eat in, order at the counter and food will be delivered to your table. Having been open only a short while they seem to be trying to find their rythym and flow, I’m sure it will come in time. B wanted to take out but with ordering pizza I figured it would have to be reheated by the time we got home so we opted to eat in. The focus may be on pizza but there is much more on offer. A variety of salads, pasta and daily specials(todays was a ginger beef stir fry) along with sweet endings make for a tough decision when it’s time to order. Everything is made in-house and the ingredients are gourmet. Not just bacon but smoked bacon, not just sausage & salami but chorizo sausage and genoa salami, not just… well you get the picture. Lots of great flavours in innovative combinations in every dish from what I could see. We ordered a Piez Caesar salad to share, it has lots of smoked bacon bits, shaved parmesan, garlic bread cracklin and a uniquely flavoured house made dressing. I would have like the dressing to be a little less thick so it was easier to spread throughout the salad, B would have like it with more garlic(but he says that about every caesar dressing he doesn’t make). I ordered the Pizza Hills Centre with pulled pork, pancetta, green onion, wilted spinach and chipotle cream. B created his own pizza with pancetta, genoa salami and italian sausage. He found the tomatoe sauce not as flavourful as he likes, I thought the chipotle cream on my pizza added a nice bit of heat. I took home a serving of the trifle on offer this day. It had coconut, vanilla custard, lemon, blueberry, salted caramels and other chocolatey bits. So decadent and so delicious! I heard them say they currently do not deliver, maybe that means they are thinking about it for the future. They have a brunch menu for the weekend which sound delicious. Seems to me they are on the right track for great success so hoping I get back for lots more visits.
