Going to Sam’s is difficult especially a transit user here in Halifax. BUT, I know it is my go to place for my Daughter’s Birthday Lunch. Her favorite the Haddock Tips, and they do give a heaping amount for a serving. Me, I am not the biggest fish Fan, their burgers though are nice. price wise, pretty normal, the daily specials are a great deal, as we all concur. Simple Diner vibe(do not get me wrong, I love that feel.) Only issue I have is, the fries are kind of ho hum, just frozen. Still I do enjoy their food, and it is a nice change from subway, McD’s.

There are innumerable great seafood restaurants in the area and I would advise going to one of them instead. Their specials can sometimes present sufficient value to make going worth while.

Two years ago, this place would’ve been four stars based purely on their insane portions. Now that they cut back, likely because of shrinking profit margins, all you get is bland fries and mediocre fish.

Quite good. Often they have nice BBQ combo specials. Good pulled pork, chicken and ribs. Good fish and chips too. I prefer the original Sams off Main Street, but this is a great place to grab a quick bite in Dartmouth Crossing.

Fish was adequate but the fries were typical frozen soggy type. They have a small notice saying that fresh fries are available but most people would not notice this notice until it is too late. The tartar sauce are Kraft packets.

I have stopped here for lunch a few times when shopping in the crossing and its not bad, The service is good they will bring your meal to your table for you. there are a couple of tvs in the place to watch while you eat. I had the 3 piece fish and chips with gravy on the side and a fountain pop and it was about 12 bucks or so. the fish was really nice, the batter was not that thick compared to some places and the portions were a good size, maybe not as big as the Sam’s place near Tocoma but it was more then enough to fill me and the fish tasted fresh not frozen. The fries were plentiful and they gave you to option of frozen or fresh cut, I had the fresh cut and they were good and not to greasy. I was surprised as they also have chicken and ribs on the menu now.

This place is underrated. The fish was good(the batter was a little too thick though), the fries were good, and their prices are very reasonable.

For a fast, filling fix of fish and chips, Sam’s is A-Ok. It had been quite some time since I visited here for lunch and forgot how big the portions were. I ordered up the two piece fish & chips only to get back to work to find enough to feed a frugal family of four. Fabulous! I arrived shortly before noon and the place was not crazy busy so the whole order/pick up experience took 15 minutes max. Service was friendly. Each piece of fish was 7 — 8″ long with a light batter, so a very good fish to batter ratio. Not too greasy and lots of fries. The tartar sauce is your standard Kraft single serving packet and ketchup a no name brand packet. So much food I popped half in the freezer for lunch another time. 8.95 + tax for two lunches is pretty good value for me. The single piece lunch is 5.95.

I was craving pan seared Scallops… I could literally taste them, and then I saw Sam’s Seafood sitting there. Now being I’m not from Nova Scotia I don’t know where to go for quick good seafood, so I walked on in. Everything on the menu is fried… so my craving wasn’t going to be fulfilled, and I was already here so… eh. I ordered the Large Scallop platter. It didn’t take long to get my food, but once I got back to my hotel, I realized that maybe the large means EXTREMELY more fries. I say this because I had like 8 – 10 scallops in this 3 pound box. I’m glad I didn’t get the regular cause I would’t been heartbroken. They scallops were good, but not nearly close to the best I’ve had here, and I couldn’t finish the excessive amount of fries I was given. If you want quick seafood… Sam’s Seafood EXPRESS fulfills your needs… If you love lots of fries… Sam’s Seafood Express fulfills your needs… but if you want AMAZING seafood… keep on driving to somewhere else.

I came here to eat because my friend wanted to eat here after a long walk around Dartmouth that ended in Dartmouth Crossing. The inside seemed like a casual fast food restaurant with of coarse tables and chairs, as well as two hd tv’s. The staff member who took my order was nice, and brought up how my friends order was the same price even though we ordered two different things(which I found to be somewhat amusing). I ordered a hot turkey sandwich with fries, and my friend chicken strips and fries, and within what seemed like 10 minutes our food was ready and served. The gravy which smothered my hot turkey was very flavourful and the fries had skins(I love when french fries still have skin). Overall it’s a great little place for a bite to eat while at Dartmouth Crossing. Not as expensive as most of the other restaurants and quick service.

This is just fine for a small restaurant in a shopping centre. The fish and chips were good and the price was cheap. Of course there are much better seafood restaurants within easy driving distance, so I would only go back here if I was pressed for time in the midst of a shopping frenzy — which doesn’t occur all that often.

Had an order of haddock tips today and half of them were light and flaky. The other half, not so much. Maybe the size of the pieces cooked too quickly… Tasty none the less.

We went to Sam’s Seafood Express because the line at Subway was too long and we were starving. After waiting almost 15 minutes in the almost-empty«express» restaurant to actually order and receive our food from the not-overly-friendly cashier, we weren’t really off to a good start. The food was ok — not great, not terrible — but the entire experience didn’t really do much to earn my recommendation. Maybe we’ll give it a try again some day, but next time I think we’ll just do Subway.

A good choice for inexpensive, stick-to-your-ribs food. The fish and chips are solid, and a single piece is more than enough. Reasonably priced fried chicken and BBQ pork entrees as well. The counter area can get a bit crowded while people wait for their orders, and the little corner bar where you get plastic cutlery, straws, and condiments is a serious bottleneck, but otherwise the experience is good. Great spot for a cheap meal before or after a movie.

I have had Sam’s Seafood before at their Main St. location in Dartmouth. I’m generally a fan. This was my first time trying the Dartmouth Crossing«Express» location, and I will NEVER go back. I ordered haddock tips, and when I was handed the bag I asked if they had given me Tar Tar sauce. They told me they had. I drove back to work, and opened the bag to find that they had in fact given me sweet & sour sauce? I called and told them and they told me I could come back and exchange my sweet & sour sauce for tar tar sauce. Well gee thanks but my food will be cold, my lunch break will be over and you will have cost me time and money. Instead I returned the meal on principle and ate elsewhere. Customer service at this location is terrible. I didn’t get a chance to even try the fish but it looked limp and rubbery. the batter was falling off of much of it when I looked in the box. Save yourself the hassle and go to a real Sam’s location, if nothing else the staff will treat you better.

I have to be honest, I’ve heard a lot of people say a lot of wonderful things about this place. So when I was in Dartmouth Crossing last week with a hankering for some fish I was excited to pop in. I’m sorry to report I wasn’t all that impressed. Look, I knew going in that this was going to be a greasy meal, but I never want to feel like I’m a willing participant in a game of «Let’s clog the arteries!» This food was unbelievably greasy. My take out box almost didn’t survive the trip from the shop to my car. Also, if I’m being totally honest, the fish wasn’t that great. It was fine, but certainly nowhere near the best I’ve had. The lady behind the counter was friendly, but overwhelmed. It could have been a bad day, but it felt like there were a lot of kinks in their system. It’s always going to be a tough go for Fee & Chee shops in Nova Scotia. We live on the water and there is always going to be a better deal at a fish stand on the side of the road. If you’re in a pinch you could do worse, but if you’re not you could do a whole lot better.

Sam’s Seafood Express can be found in Dartmouth Crossing, adjacent to Subway and in the same plaza as Henry’s, Second Cup and WokBox. It has great neighbours, but that’s not what I’m here to tout to you. Sam’s offers a generous portion at a fair price. For example, the 3 piece fish and chips rings in at around $ 10 and contains three monster-sized pieces of fish as well as a hearty portion of fries(so much so that they have to package this meal in two boxes — one for the fish, one for the fries!). All of their offerings are reasonably priced, to be honest — the clams are tasty and relatively inexpensive(comparably speaking). The clams aren’t as good as, say, Stayner’s or John’s Lunch, but they’re not bad. Even bad clams are good clams, right? Sam’s Seafood Express also offers salads and various grilled items. There is a small eat-in area(though no waiter service) and the staff are cheerful and friendly, even during the lunch-hour rush. You should build a small wait time into your order, though, because everything is made to order and not prepared ahead.

Sam’s Seafood Express is located in the Dartmouth Crossing for over a year now. While there the other day, I stopped in for a quick lunch. The inside is very clean(new), about 10 tables and also has two flat screen TV’s in each corner. This is nice when you are eating alone, with no one to talk to. I order a two piece fish and chips. First let me say, WAYTOOMUCH! Wow, the pieces of fish were huge. I only ate one piece and some of the fries, the lady who served me offered me a take away container. She said this happens all the time, the orders are very large. So I packed up the remained and took it home. Which would have equaled a one piece order. The menu is not just fish and chips though. When I was there, people ordered: club house sandwiches, cheese burgers and a lot of poutine. I could not believe it, three people subbed poutine for fries. The clams and chips looked good as well. Here are a few of the prices: 2 piece order fish with fries and drink $ 12.00 Large clams with fries: $ 12.95 Small clams with fries: $ 6.95 Club Sandwich $ 5.95 with fries add $ 2.95 So you can see the prices are not over the top. The staff is great and the washroom is clean. A blessing in a restaurant.
