Honestly, I’m shocked and slightly offended at the horrible reviews here. First of all, I don’t think that using frozen berries merits a 1 star rating… really? Come on. Delta Bakery has been a Ladner staple as long as I’ve been alive. There’s nothing like talking a walk through the Village, popping in to the Thrift Store next door and stopping at Delta Bakery for a lemon cream Delta donut. They have great lunch specials, savory items(the pepperoni and cheese bread sticks sell out almost immediately), and their fresh baked bread rivals that of any other local bakery. Sure, Delta bakery has typical small-town hours(they are closed Sundays & Mondays) and like many other locally owned family-run businesses, they close early to go home. This suits us Ladnerites just fine and I personally have NO trouble getting my butt out of bed early to snatch up a famous Delta donut before they’re all gone.

Delta Bakery has the very best glazed doughnuts. The apple strudel is also tasty. Always fresh, sometimes sold out. Not a gourmet establishment, but good basic deliciousness with great service and friendly staff. Many loyal customers call ahead for their orders — perhaps an old-school way to do business. The Delta Bites are another yummy treat. For any quantity, best to order ahead. These tasty morsels are best eaten within hours of being made. A good local business, open Tuesday to Saturday. Just a few doors away from the stupendous Delta Hospital Thrift Shop.

I’ve been by this place a few times and always seen the tasty looking donuts. Went in one morning and grab a bag of day old apple fritters. They were still light fluffy and delicious. They were also HUGE!

While I can’t speak to Marc D.‘s «brutally honest»(and brutally funny) review, I can say that the Delta Bakery is the home of Ladner’s best apple fritter. A friend of mine had a couple on the kitchen counter, and I stole one. It was delicious! So I tried three(3) times to buy a dozen of my own at the bakery, only to find that each time they were sold out.(Maybe that’s a hint to make more?) I finally got a dozen, and they’re heavenly! Loaded with crispy sugar and built out of soft, delicious dough, the fritters are great. ***Edit: I originally gave this place 3 stars, but they are never open. They close on Sunday when I visit the Ladner Market, and it really bums me out. They always seem to be running out of the only reason I(and others) go there. I guess they don’t like making money? I mean, why else can you explain a constant lack of availability? Sorry to say, but I’m taking a star away because I can never go there during reasonable times.
