A hidden jem in Maple Bay… stopped in after hiking Maple Mountain… drawn by the humours sign of a nun, and the name Bad Habits… enjoyed a spot on the beautiful deck, served by the owner herself, and absolutely fell in love with the place. Beautiful spot, amazing atmosphere and feel to the place — concrete floor, wood furnishings, and of course the view! The food was all homemade in store with local, fresh ingredients. This place is worth a drive up the Malahat from Victoria, or wherever… nice baristas with some great hot beverage talent as well!!! Definitely recommend Bad Habits Café!

Good: Beautiful Location! Sit outside and enjoy being so close to the ocean. Fresh air, lovely ocean smell! Not so good: They have about 15 things on the dinner menu and kept running out of things. Ok no big deal, there’s no more duck, ok I’ll order chicken. Also we ordered an appy(squash) ‘to go’ so we could take it home for someone. My chicken came and it was deep fried with shake n bake and the ‘veggies’ that came with it were canned mushrooms. Ok no prob, I’m still pretty happy. When we were done and ready to go, I ask for the bill, I also ask if that appy(squash) is almost done. She says no, I don’t know where it is. She goes and comes back and says ‘ha ha that will explain it, we ran out of squash! haha’. wtf? We had to order another appy and wait for them to cook it so we could leave. Fine dining price for low rent fast food. PS they give you a really gross hunk of bread with EVERY dish.(I’m not picky with break either).

Stopped in few months ago for lunch… can’t stop thinking about it. I ordered off menu because I was craving a BLT. Thick sliced bacon, fresh house made whole grain bread topped with fresh veggies. Amazing. The coffee was smooth and the view was beautiful.

Summers eve, ocean side deck, great food. What more can we ask for? Bad Habits Café in Maple Bay is open for dinner on Friday and Saturdays only. The rest of the time its Coffee, breakfast or lunch. My wife and I shared the mussels as an appy. I rate them five star as they were fresh Salt Spring mussels. The sauce and bread was perfect pairing. We then had the anchovie pasta. This was light and amazing. We had the appy salad along with the pasta to round thing off. Overall a great meal and a great new location.
