I despise this location. They have the absolute worst customer service of any big box hardware store. I have had the displeasure of shopping here for more than 10years, right back from when they first opened and were the only new store off Laird. Having done projects in the area and having Mom’s house nearby unfortunately forced the visits as there is nothing else close by. Yesterday took the cake when I went in to pick up a new tub for my Mom. I couldn’t purchase one near me because I hadn’t measured the space yet. In I go, find the tub within 5 mins but of course it’s up on the shelf, 10 ft up. So I look around all the aisles for some help, after walking a marathon I finally see two employees standing in another section chatting. I politely asked if I could get some help getting a tub down. The guy says«you have to ask someone it the tub dept.» but there is no one I say, he says«well I’m not licensed to get it off the shelf so you have to ask someone else» thanks a lot. Walking around some more I ask another employee, who didn’t stop walking while I tried to ask him for help. His response is the same as the last guy so I follow behind him and ask can he call someone to the dept who has a license to pull the tub down. He was such a jerk and never stopped walking to turn and face me, just radios into his shoulder walkie talkie to have someone come over to the tub section. So bloody rude. The 95lb blonde lady that ended up coming to the tub section did not have a license, couldn’t help me get it down but said she would get someone else. She was decent and pleasant but by this time I had taken 5 mins to pick out the tub and close to 30 mins to just get her help. The majority of the men that work here are extremely incompetent and rude. There are no employees to help in the various sections. I laughed when I left because I figured Home Depot hires all the employees Lowes fires. Oh and guess where all the employees are. Up at the front, hanging around, talking to each other. They have two new«pro» desks with 2 employees per little desk, not doing a thing! Pro’s don’t need seniors who retired from jobs completely unrelated to construction to help them or the teenagers that Home Depot seems to hire. So if you have ever been fired from any job due to your lack of customer service skills, fret not. This place will hire you. And they don’t allow dogs anymore. I used to take mine in but it is strictly enforced now.

I like to support Canadian business, but I can’t deny that I get better service and greater knowledge at Home Depot. Employees really try to help. They know where things are and how their products work, and when they don’t know, they ask someone who does! Well of course not all of them and sometimes they can’t be found or the info is sometimes incorrect, especially the young employees. But many of them have given us helpful tips and advice on how to proceed on projects. We are really happy with the level of service we receive here. We look forward to checking them out in a different location.

Not that Home Depot needs my review, but … Out of all the DIY chain stores, Home Depot is my favourite. This location is conveniently located in a shopping plaza with a Sobey’s, LCBO, and Starbucks. The staff are friendly and helpful. It shouldn’t be a rarity, but Home Depot actually hires people who know what they’re talking about. I remember going to another chain DIY store last summer with some questions — the high schoolers a) didn’t know what they were talking about; and b) didn’t care to know what they were talking about. Good for: home stuff

Wish they would still allow dogs. Have to walk around outside with our little Malshi dog, Walle while my wife shops inside.

This is a review for the Home Depot on Laird Street. So I went to Home Depot to buy a drill set for my SO for Christmas. In doing this, you can imagine how easily it is to get overwhelmed with the amount of details for all of the different types of drills, battery voltages, sizes, weights, and names, etc Especially for someone like me who knows Nothing about drills. So I stayed in the aisle looking at all of the different types of drills trying to find somebody who could provide me with some customer service or assist me in any type of way. About a dozen or so employees wearing the orange aprons would walk past me and not one of them helped me. When I did Flag someone down, that is when they didn’t just walk away even thought i was yelling out«excuse me? excuse me?», they said they’ll be back to help because they all seemed to be heading to a predestined location that was more important than helping customers. No one ever came back. I still needed help. I Flagged down another person with a walkie talkie, and they walkie talkied for help and then said that they would have to go find this person who they were talking to through the walkie-talkie. This gentleman came back and said«there are two assistants in aisles 16, so if you want to go there, they can help you over there». Ummm im like 4 aisles over, and I had specific questions about the merchandise in the aisle i was in. what did they expect me to do memorize all the details of all the drills and ask them about it? Perhaps describe all the drills and model numbers to them? Totally ridiculous and useless. It didn’t seem like this place is understaffed, it just seemed like they were all stocking things, instead of being responsible for actually answering any customers questions or offering customers any help. On top of that they had a display with two different types of drills with cases in two different colors on sale, one for $ 280 and one for $ 380. When I went to go pay for it it turns out that the drill set that I bought was not the one that I wanted to purchase(I wanted to get the $ 380 one but thee cashier rang me in at $ 280), so I had to go back into the store to try to find what i wanted in the mislabeled display about the drills. Again I could not find anyone to help me. Terrible. So I left not buying what I wanted and I’m just going to leave the gift receipt for my bf to deal with the exchange. i’m actually going to try to find the customer service line and/or the phone number to the HD to complain about this b/c it was just completely negligent.

My review is of a particular line of products carried by Home Depot, rather than of this great monstrosity of a store itself. I am in love with Eco Mist products — I interviewed the founder of this company for an article I was writing — and then rushed over to HD to try the products for myself. They are scent free, all natural, non-toxic cleaning solutions that leave your countertops shiny clean without any chemicals! I’m in the process of switching over all my cleaning products to environmentally-friendly alternatives and I’m planning to stock up on Eco Mist!
