We hired Cake Couture to do a cake, along with dozens of cupcakes, for a corporate event. The result? Amazing! The artwork was great, and the colours on the fondant matched out corporate colours perfectly. I normally find fondant to be sickly sweet and… kinda gross. But there was something different about this fondant — it was sweet, but not overly, and actually quite tasty. But, most importantly, was the red velvet cupcake. Now, I am a huge fan of red velvet cake, and make a point of trying it at different bakeries around Canada and the US when I travel. This was seriously the best red velvet cupcake I have ever had(and I’ve tried it at the renowned Magnolia Bakery in NYC). I have dreams about it. My only gripe is that they don’t have a proper store. I really wish they had a bakery somewhere downtown but, I suppose, perhaps it’s better that they don’t(I would go way too often).

I had a super positive experience using this bakery. Annie sat and counselled me and made sure that she understood my vision for this special cake… I made it known to her that I wanted something spectacular, and that is exactly what I got! She created exactly the graduation cake that I had envisioned… with only my very poorly drawn sketch to guide her. When I walked in that bakery to pick it up… I couldn’t believe my eyes!!! It actually caused me to tear-up! None of my dinner guests could believe their eyes! Every on of them thought the cake was just a stack of my nursing books with my stethoscope and diploma tucked off to the side(a nursing cap made completely of fondant topped off the books). This cake tasted delicious, and I was the envy of anybody who had ever had a cake made for them. I would go back to Annie and her crew in a heartbeat!

Most definitely the BEST cupcakes I’ve ever had. I had Annie do my cupcakes for my May wedding and I can’t believe how amazing they were! My husband and I came to Annie with a design that we had in mind and she suggested things that were beyond my imagination. She color matched the cupcakes exactly to my custom invitations and I was so thrilled with how they turned out. For photos, check them out here But aside from looking fabulous, the cupcakes taste amazing. They’re light, fluffy and not overly sweet. My guests are still raving about the cupcakes and want to pick up a batch for themselves in the future. It might seem a bit dramatic, but the cupcakes really were one of the highlights of the night ! :)

Annie Dam is a small woman with a big passion for cakes. Cake Couture specializing in custom made cakes for weddings and all occasions, including unique 3-D cakes. Cakes are custom baked and decorated. Another focus of Cake Couture is cupcakes. If you have ever craved a cupcake all your own, Annie can make it for you. The shop also has a variety of ready-made cupcakes in both regular size and mini. I had a Cookies and Cream cupcake. When I picked up the cupcake, I knew it was not ordinary. It weighed at least three time as much as ones I have gotten at other cupcake specialty shops. Part of this is that the icing, a buttercream, is generously piled high. It was sweet and full of crumbled Oreo cookies. The cake was also much denser than other cupcakes I have had, without going overboard — it was like a «real» cake, but in cupcake form. The chocolate was delicious and included small chocolate bits that melted in my mouth(and unfortunately on my pants — I am a sloppy eater at times!). For $ 2.95, it was on par with other cupcake shops. My fellow cupcake lover had a Cherry Cheesecake and also found the whole thing much very substantial — the icing even filled part of the cake. Cake Couture is not a café, so we took our cupcakes to go in napkins and ate them as we headed back to our vehicle. I would have loved some coffee to go with my cupcake, but the overall experience was fun and decadent. Located in the west end, the cupcakes here are seriously worth trying.
