We came here for dinner last night and it just didn’t feel the same. The waitresses were nice but some of them were often sitting at the tables with customers. Apparently, they all knew each other but it just didn’t seem professional to me. Our food wasn’t mind blowing but it was OKAY. While we were eating I looked around and noticed that most of the people who were seated weren’t eating dinner; they were chillin with their laptops or buddies and smoking sheesha. Château Beruit doesn’t have the same vibe as it did before, it kind of feels like being in a coffee shop. That’s not a bad thing but I’m going to find a new place for Middle Eastern food.

Hmmm… I have mixed feelings about this place. I came here yesterday to order take out for dinner. There was only one server and she was very busy getting hookah pipes for customers so she didn’t greet me until 10 minutes later. In the interim I grabbed a menu myself and perused while I waited for her to come and take my order. She was very pleasant and answered my questions promptly when she did make her way over to me, but you could tell she needed some extra help. The food didn’t take too long to prepare and the owner gave some complimentary baklava to sample which was very nice. It also upped my fuzzy warm feelings about the place. I took the order over to my friend’s place. They had the fattoush salad with chicken and I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap and the hummus and pita for all of us to share. They really enjoyed their salads and my shawarma wrap was excellent. The chicken was grilled nicely and the garlic sauce with the pickled beets were so tasty! However, it was missing the fries that was mentioned in the menu. The hummus was delicious. I really liked the olive oil and the nuts in it. The baklava was also very good. It wasn’t saturated with honey and it was nice and moist. Order to go would be my recommendation here unless you want to smoke a hookah pipe.

Took my girlfriend here for the first time, the staff was very friendly and quick to take my order, the hookah was perfect ! Not to many places know how to make them anymore. We ordered two chicken shawarma plates, my goodness, that’s was the best chicken shawarma plate I’ve had in a long time ! Defiantly coming back there

I wouldn’t go there if I didn’t buy a Groupon. With a Groupon it wasn’t too expensive but I still have to say that most of the dishes were overpriced. The sausage dish was really small(like two small sausages) and it cost $ 9. Very friendly waitress though I like her. Might not go there again if not with a coupon.

I’ve been to this place twice. The first time my buddy and I met up with a friend who was with a group of 8 other people. Hey no biggie right? The 2 ladies working, I must say, attractive, but they do work the tables well and are pretty chill. There was a bit of drama with the peeps we were sitting where one guy thought it was cool for him to drink his beer outside and being a man he could make that choice. The staff were warning him to come back inside. The guy was being a dick, I had to pull him in and tell to relax. Pretty much to say, that group totally skipped out on their bill, and left it to their one friend to take care of. I did come back a second time with a different group of people. We smoke a grape mint hookah. It was nice, same staff was working. Friday night, they are busy. Buddy orders a chicken shwarma. Side of fries. He finished that in no time. By the end of the night, my contacts were all dried out from the smoke in the place, figured it was time for fresh air and head home.

I would like to start off by saying that this was my first experience at Château Beirut, and since it was suggested by a friend and I thoroughly enjoy shisha, I had a somewhat high expectation. My experience was incredibly disappointing. The service was horrible and the staff were extremely rude and even asked us how long we were staying; they made it seem as if we were INTRUDERS rather than CUSTOMERS! They also insisted we each either purchase a drink(even though half of us were driving), or purchase one hookah for every two people — a «policy» I have never encountered in my five years of frequenting hookah bars. When it came time for the bill, another rude worker«casually reminded» us that we still had yet to pay, as if we intended on ditching the bill. My friend was then charged $ 31 for shisha and juice. The only thing I am thankful for is that I did not venture to try the food, as it was also very overpriced. Never coming back here.

I feel insulted for eating here. first off 9 $ for a pencil thin chicken shwarma. abywere else gives you a nice sized one. but here was hardly even anything but pita. normally people dont harge more then a buck to add afew fries to your meal. here? 3 – 4 $. also the pop. who can complain about a pop? well GG. 3.50 for what was bassicly a half can of coke NOREFILLS. mostly ice. the service was nice. i expressed my conserns and she was willing to give free refills. although this does not help my terrible dining expereinced. i felt rippes off. very ripped off. i paied 13 $ for what was a bite of bread and a sip of soda. afterwards i had to go to 711 just to buy a hotdog to least be somewhat full for work after lunch. thanks for nothing. i could have gone elsewere and will be.

Food was decent, and the service was friendly. However, the hookah smoke was overwhelming. I wouldn’t return if they still have indoor smoking.

Let me start off by saying I only come here for their fatoush salad. And I usually order it to go. I think their fattoush salad is the best in the city — the price is a bit steep in my opinion. Sometimes i even order it with chicken(but also is quite expensive to add-on). Be forewarned, there have been numerous times when the salad has been made inconsistently, i.e., no pita chips, smaller portions when ordering in the evening. But overall, I find if you order during the weekday for lunch, the fattoush is more likely to come properly prepared. Once in awhile they even throw in a free piece of baklava. But lately not so much. I’ve heard some negative things about the rest of the menu so I can’t comment about the rest of it.

Probably the worst lebanese food ive ever eaten. I’m sure if you are into shisha place looks pretty cool. We ordered the shish kebab, baba ghanouj and some pastries. It is obvious that they don’t make anything in house. I know because I have bought the same lebanese canned dips before from middle Eastern grocers. The shish was dry and not particularity tasty and it was expensive for two small skewers. The bread was stale too. The cheese pastry and beef pastry was actually good however it would have been even better from the actual bakery fresh that baked them. Let me reiterate. They don’t make actually in house. They must have just warmed them up. Don’t waste your money. This is not lebanese food. It’s a discrace to call this food lebanese. Ps I’m not lebanese just love real lebanese food!

The food was discussting and over priced for Arabic food. I came in and I ordered a larg fries to have something to snack on while catching up with a friend. Service was slow and 9 dolllars for one plate of cold oily fries. What a rip off and don’t go there. you want Arabic food I will stick to lashish from now on.

This place is great. It is the definition of ghetto fabulous. The bathroom looks like a janitors closet and the furniture is ancient but I love it here. The hookah is awesome and the service is always really good. They have lots of flavours to choose from and the food and drinks are delish!

I’ve driven by Château Beirut a number of times and always wondered about it, so I bought a Groupon the last time they had one and recently had the chance to try it out. I’m glad I had one because the food was just A-OK. First of all, most people are there to smoke sheesha. It seems that the restaurant business is secondary — most people had small snacks. The smoke is faintly sweet and not that heavy in the air so it didn’t bother me, but probably would for someone who has asthma. It’s a decent-sized space and it was pretty busy. They have a pretty extensive menu of Lebanese and Mediterranean favourites, but judging from what we ordered, it’s not the most traditional or the best you can get. The fatayer was quite good — option of meat or veg stuffed into a square pastry dough — it’s nice that you can order them individually. Falafel was a disappointment, over-fried and meh-tasting. It came with a stack of warmed pitas that you could tell after they’d cooled that they weren’t that fresh. As others mentioned, you don’t get as much food as the photos on their website would have you believe, but it is still a decent amount. I had the combo plate which came with three skewers, garlic dipping sauce, salad, and choice of fries or rice. I chose the rice and I found it had an odd taste to it; not sure if it was a spice they add to it. It was all ok, nothing impressive but nothing terrible either. We did try out some double apple sheesha afterwards — there are lots of flavour options. You get several large lumps of the stuff for one price, though I haven’t gone elsewhere in the city for sheesha so I don’t know how comparable the price is. Service was spotty but when she did come by, the waitress was all smiles and friendly and chatty. Overall, this place is ok… probably wouldn’t come back for the food but maybe for the sheesha.

Horrible, horrible! Avoid if possible. I witnessed the waiter drink from the same bottle of water that was used to refill other bottles. As well, the manager takes unused«complementay» appetizers and then serves them to other guests!

Fred and Marisa have created a great spot for yummy Mediterranean food — we’ve not had a chance to try EACH of the appetizers or plates/wraps, but we’ll keep going back until we do!(OK perhaps I’ll skip the chicken livers… :) We both remarked that it’s possibly one of Edmonton’s hidden gems — the place where the food and service are so good you just want to keep coming back, and yet not that busy(yet!) so it feels like it’s YOUR favourite place!

Went here for some sheesha. It’s not something I do often, but did enjoy it. My party consisted of sheesha veterans and apparently the quality of the product is good here. We had the lemon mint and it was good because it was fruity but not too fruity. It cost 12 $ for the first piece and 7 $ for a refill. It was weird to be in a restaurant with smoke in the air. It did take sometime to adjust to the thickness of the air. I had a beef shawarma with gin and sprite. The shawarma was good but small. We also had some great tea. It was a lot of fun and was pleasantly surprised with Château Beirut. Would definitely go back. 3.5 stars!

Good food, authentic and a fun experience, but the food took forever to arrive, the couple at he table beside us actually each got their food at separate times, not very professional when one person is half done the meal before the other starts eating. Waitress was friendly. Please note that many people come here to smoke hookahs, so don’t be surprised by that. The smoke was actually not disturbing for us and we aren’t smokers at all.

A-Ok describes this place well. Pluses: — good food at decent price — extensive Lebanese menu — service was OK, friendly Minuses: — dirty, dated décor(a ball cap was laying in the cushions and the floor was filthy, despite it being early afternoon midweek) — hookah everywhere — as someone who does not care to imbibe, I should not have to inhale and smell hookah while I’m trying to enjoy my meal. Places that offer hookah should have a non-hookah area in my opinion, and it’s easy to plan this in the early afternoon and evening. There were only 3 other tables occupied when we visited. I also question the cleanliness of the hookah, considering the overall cleanliness of the place. Seriously, the upholstery is gross. Suggestions: Get take-out

The chicken shawarma(with fries) was delicious, and I had my first-ever shisha here today! The service left something to be desired — although our waitress was nice, there basically was no follow-up once we had our food/shisha. Interior updates and more attention from staff could make this place an addiction, for sure.

I absolutely love hanging out and spending time at Château Beirut. The food is fantastic, always fresh, healthy and light. The service is excellent, seriously, they are so friendly! The whole place is outlined with comfy couches that you can sink into, grab a hookah & converse with your company. It has the most eclectic convergence of patrons, from the cool-kids smoking sheesha, to the university students studying, the business crowd having a late dinner and cocktail, and the old Mediterranean men gathering to just celebrate life. It is open quite late, and remains busy so you don’t feel awkward being in there for hrs, like you’re keeping the waitress or barista from closing up early,(as in other downtown spots). I also like that it is in a nice, brightly lit location off of Jasper Ave, so I feel very safe walking alone to my car if it is late. So next time you are looking for a place to kick back, dive into a pool of hummus, and inhale the intoxicating sweet smell of the appley/grape scented air, head to the Château. And look around ‘cuz hey, behind a little laptop, you might just find me!
