I’ve attended this fundraising event at Mount Royal School, three times over the past four years. Some years I’ve stayed for the whole event, whereas other years I’ve left once the crowds got a bit more intense. Still, I enjoy this unique way of raising funds! Every year they have a theme and a bunch of chefs from various restaurants prepare dishes which you can taste for a toonie. This is very affordable for individuals and families as a result(I try not to forget my tupperware so as to try all the dishes each year and not get uncomfortably full). There is also a live and silent auction. Some years I’m more tempted to bid on silent auction items than other years, but I’ve yet to participate in the live auction — it gets intense with parents bidding for art made by teachers and others! All in all a wonderful and delicious event where the students take part and help make it a success for the school and community.

Great event. Fewer restaurants than last year and perhaps not as much variety. But still a great deal for wonderful food. And the silent auction items were a steal. My fav was Select, followed by Murrieta’s.

This was my first time at the Culinary Cook Off, even though I live right in the neighbourhood. I just couldn’t miss it this year with the line-up of restaurants in the competition — and all for a great cause — fundraising for the local school. The sliders were all so different, but my fave was from The Marc. Their beef slider included bacon jam(which is the first I’d heard of– bacon and jam?). Definitely got my vote. Well organized event!
