Portuguese Canadian Bakery furnished me with an average pastry and a pretty underwhelming cup of drip/brewed coffee. Despite the inexpensive prices, it isn’t for me. I’ll take a pass next time.

Wonderful Portuguese bakery café&deli. This visit was on a Saturday and the selection was outstanding. Good parking but would be a great destination for a bike ride. Café has deli sandwich offerings, soups, specialty coffees, and numerous baked goods. A fun and different place for lunch or coffee!

Cheap. Great custard tarts. Friendly staff. The prices are very cheap considering what u get. I bought a huge loaf of sweet bread for $ 3.50. The tarts are fantastic and for $ 1.10 each they are quite affordable. Freshly Baked goods nowadays are really expensive so these prices were awesome!!! The only reason I only gave it 3 stars is bc I minused a star for the bland tasting apple pie for $ 3.95. It was so cheap I thought I would try it. But it had no taste. The crust was very good but the filling was mediocre at best. I would pay a few more dollars for better apples in the filling. I guess it was worth just $ 3.95. Its a good price if you want breads and tarts. But skip the pies. Lots of other baked goods were available. But im not a big fan of sweets so I didnt try any. But maybe next time. The shop is also a mini grocery store. So handy to buy other groceries if you dont want to line up at the huge chain grocery stores. Family run and you get the welcoming feeling when you enter.

Neighbourhood bakery with great European deli selection. This is a bakery where bread still reigns supreme. Their selection of old world breads is great, with the huge round loaves barely fitting in a bag. The crusty rolls are my favourites. From the sweets rack, the custard tarts are the stand-outs. They do very light doughnuts that make you realize how awful those frozen ones from Timmy’s are. They also serve soup and sandwiches and have a small deli/variety store of European and Brazilian import goods. There is a good selection of olive oil and sausages, including great linguasa and chorizo. And should you be craving dry, salt cod, there is always stack by the front coolers.

This bakery is located in Highlands in the NE part of town. Besides baked goods it also has a deli and dry goods store inside. On the east side of the bakery is a cozy little area with tables and chairs to sit down and eat some of the bakeries selections. Although small, this place has a surprisingly good selection of pastries. Lots of different and interesting varieties of tarts, strudel, donuts, cobbler, pies, cakes, brownies, etc. I ordered four different items along with a freshly made cup of coffee and was only charged $ 5.45 for everything! Each of the desserts I ordered were tasty and delicious. And the coffee was rich and well made. Dim Shortons and Morebucks have nothing on these guys. If you are ever in the NE part of town, be sure to stop into the Portugese Bakery and give it a try. Both your wallet and your sweet tooth will be happy you did.
