This place has the coolest vibe. As soon as you walk in you feel comfortable! We are so glad we found this place. Another plus is they try to source their produce locally. They have a big chalkboard that lists the local suppliers. Very big plus from me! We came here for brunch. Hubby had the platter and I had the eggs Benny. Both were delicious. The platter was very big portion. Tip: the bennies are served with 62.5 degree eggs which equates to very soft and slimy eggs. So if u don’t like slimy eggs, ask the server to prepare them medium. I do recommend the bennies though! English muffin toasted to perfection, tasty sauce, perfect balance for me. Also the servers are awesome, attentive and very friendly! A definite plus.

Went to Cured for the first time today, the overall place is great. We were a bit disappointed that they didn’t have the meat trays for lunch, we were limited to a lunch menu. But that isn’t why I am giving it 3 stars, the three stars were for the food. We shared a burger/fries, mushroom soup and a chicken salad. It was all beyond salty. We ate a quarter of the burger, finished off the soup and salad. It tasted good, but it was really hard to eat due to salt. Im from Newfoundland, and we love our salt but this was over the top!

About a month ago, a couple of friends and I tried out Cured. The ratings were great, the food looked delicious and it was on the Southside, so easy to get to. I loved the décor. A bit rustic, a bit classy. The washrooms are also neat! There is limited seating, so I advise arriving on the earlier side. We arrived around 5:30 and had no issues with seating. Our server was great. She was polite, friendly and helpful. She offered recommendations and gave us information on specific dishes, which in turn helped us make the food choices that we did. We ordered drinks. Two of us had the Lemon Lavender Fizz and it was amazing. Our friend had the La Grand Paris. I had a taste and it was also good. For food, we decided to share a few plates as everything sounded great! We had Sriracha popcorn, Arancini, Gnocchi and Brie. Everything was very tasty but the Brie with the berry compote was my favorite! It was great to be able to sample a few dishes, however we were not full so we decided to get dessert. We couldn’t decided between the two desserts, so we opted for both. Why not?! It was girls’ night out and there were three of us! We had a chocolate coconut waffle with chocolate ice cream and some kind of peanut butter drizzle. We also had the banana bread, which was in pieces with salted caramel ice cream. They were both delicious and the ice cream was Pinocchio ice cream. Great service and great food. I would go back again!

A great charcuterie is a beautiful thing. And its recent popularity, Edmonton’s growing need for meat, cheese, and selected accompaniments, has stemmed additions to menus all across the city. Every aspiring restaurant, pub, and gastropub has a variation of charcuterie on offer – and the sad thing is that many of them are supremely disappointing. I mean, sure, you can stick a few slices of salami and a chunk of cheddar on an oddly-shaped slab of wood and call it whatever you like, but a great charcuterie – a charcuterie you go 25 km out of your way to enjoy – is a work of art. Cured Wine Bar, a recent addition to south Edmonton’s Ellerslie and Summerside neighbourhood, clearly takes pride in their art. Similar to Ampersand 27 on Whyte Avenue, Cured offers a build-your-own charcuterie and cheese board, with a variety of cured and dried meats, seafood, paté, and imported and domestic cheeses to choose from. Partner that with a selection of shared plates, from simple olives and pickles to clams with double smoked bacon, squash salad, and phyllo-wrapped brie, and you’ve got a well-rounded menu to appeal to even the most pretentious self-proclaimed foodie. The restaurant also offers an excellent wine list, including two bottles of red priced at $ 1000 for the big spenders and an enomatic wine system, which allows them to offer small(as tiny as 1oz) tasters of select fine red wines. I’ve dined at Cured twice now and each time I have been wholly satisfied with their charcuterie. While Ampersand charges per item, Cured lets you choose five meats for a set price and an addition of cheese at $ 5 an ounce. The«small» board(1 – 2 people) is $ 32 and the«large»(approx. 3 – 4 people) is $ 46, although you can get all of the meats on one board for $ 125. Each board automatically comes with accompaniments such as crostinis, condiments, and dried fruit, so you don’t have to pay extra for mustard like you would at Ampersand(thankfully, since Cured’s mustard is unbelievable). Between my two dining experiences at Cured, I’ve decided that my favourite meats were the spicy soppresata, smoked salmon, and smoked duck prosciutto. I’ve yet to try one of the patés, though, and am dying to give the rabbit and blueberry terrine a taste. Cheese-wise, you can’t go wrong with favourites such as the smoked gouda, seven-year aged cheddar, and gorgonzola. The highlight of the cheese section, though, was the saganaki. We saw the server walk by with a sizzling, fiery pan of some kind of cheese and knew we had to try that for ourselves. It’s a beautiful addition to any charcuterie and I strongly recommend you give this cheesy Greek delicacy a try. It should be noted, however, that Cured only takes walk-ins and the dining area is fairly small. We’ve never had any issues going before 6pm or going a bit later in the evening, but it fills up fairly quickly during peak hours, particularly on the weekend. It is a beautiful dining room, though, and the ambience is romantic, slightly bustling, and perfect for any number of occasions, from date night, to work meetings, to drinks with a close friend.

Our server was great. Chicken wings where very good, as a appy. As for the main course, we ordered the $ 32 board, with a $ 10 side of cheese. Found the board expensive, for what you got. Really not very much meat. Cheese was expensive for what you got too. For $ 32, no crackers or even a few pickles ! Too much fruit, more meat needed. Nice presentation, but for the money, very expensive place. We have been here once now, would not return !

Although the food was great, it was the service that I felt was terrible. My husband and I and two of our friends went to the bar while we waited for our table. We stood at the bar for at least 10 minutes while three people including a manager polished cultery directly in front of us and did not even acknowledge us to ask if we’d even like anything. Then when our table was ready it was another 10 minutes maybe even more before a server even came to greet us. But before that at least 3 servers had walked by without even notching us. Finally my husband went up to the bar and inquired as to if we had a server or not and the manager looked extremely puzzled while the servers tried to figure out who’s table it was. It was disappointing to see that a new restaurant had such sub par service. I’m not sure we would be back.

Since opening in Ellerslie mid-2015, Cured Wine Bar has moved up and down on my list of places to try for quite some time. I mostly blame the location, too far south out of my dinner radius and an area that I don’t casually frequent. As much as I love charcuterie(who doesn’t love meat & cheese?!), Cured Wine Bar seemed to slip past my radar over the winter. That is, until they announced that they were doing brunch. Good thing my brunch radius is a lot larger than my dinner radius. I’ve been on a brunch binge lately, making the effort to try a new brunch or lunch place every weekend that I’m not working. To kick off 2016, I invited all of my food-loving friends for a get-together to try Cured’s first brunch service. Owner Field Pieterse was on location, making sure the day ran smoothly and I would assume Chef Phan Au was in the kitchen, although sadly we never got a chance to meet. The space is quite open and large, although apparently only seating thirty and not reservable. I was happy to see multiple seating options: banquet seating for a more comfortable dining experience, table seating to accommodate couples or pushed together to seat large groups like all nine of us, and bar seating for a more casual meal and sipping wine. Loved the natural lighting in the space, balancing out the darker brick and wood panelled walls. It’s honestly a food photographer’s(or food blogger’s!) dream come true. Even the cutlery grabs your attention. While most of us admired the space, a few of the group were more food-centric, noticing the curing of various meats in the fridges and the stacked wheels of cheese! A blackboard on the back wall features Cured Wine Bar’s local suppliers, including Country Accent Farms and Sylvan Star. As expected for brunch, the menu featured egg-centric dishes like eggs benedict and a breakfast platter, bagel and lox, and a Fried Chicken and Foie-ffle($ 17). Hold the phone, what’s a foie-ffle? It’s rendered foie gras(goose liver) and a Belgian waffle together my friends. I’m sorry, how can you not order this! The chicken had a crisp batter, perfectly fried, was tender and well seasoned(and peppered!). It’s what happens when you have a five-day long process of brining, sous-viding(is that a word?), sitting and chilling, and deep frying. Heck. Yeah. You could definitely taste the foie gras in the waffle, and with the combination of bourbon honey and maple butter, just the right amount of sweetness balanced out the dish. There was the texture and flavour of cornmeal in the waffle batter and perhaps due to the addition of rendered foie gras, the waffle would crumble as soon as a fork hit it. Do I care? Not really, because everything was absolutely delicious! Linda ordered the Eggs Benny($ 14): toasted English muffin, 62.5 degree poached egg, shaved prosciutto(the only meat not made in-house), bacon hollandaise, and smoked paprika. I don’t think I even asked Linda how her dish was because we were too busy talking about why SnapChat was ruling all social media. Diane ordered the Cured Platter($ 16): two eggs done your way, Cured Wine Bar’s signature bacon, breakfast sausage, confit hash browns, with multigrain toast and fruit. Heavily peppered, Diane’s scrambled eggs weren’t as noteworthy and a quick steal of one of her hash browns made me feel like her dish was underwhelming compared to my order. Stuffed to the brim, our table was ready to pass up on dessert until our server came out and said the words«dulce de leche» and«salted caramel ice cream». Curse the words that make you lose all sense of control. The Dolce & Banana(haha! get it?) was absolutely delicious: a housemade banana bread broken into pieces and baked with a vanilla bourbon custard, topped with a scoop of salted caramel ice cream from Edmonton’s own Pinocchio Ice Cream, then drizzled with dulce de leche and hazelnuts. Um… yum? 99.9% there, as I think using a deeper pan(albeit cute plating points!), would result in less crispy bits and help keep the banana bread moist. Boy was I glad I made the trip. Definitely one of the more memorable brunches I’ve had in Edmonton and one that I would recommend. If I hadn’t been driving, the bottom-less mimosas for $ 20 would most certainly have been on my bill. In which case, I might have ordered the ridiculously luxurious Eggs Woodhouse Platter, a whopping $ 37 dish featuring a white truffle hollandaise, Northern Divine caviar and Spanish saffron. Whoa! For those not in the mood for brunch, Cured Wine Bar also offers a lunch menu(after 11am) of soups, salads, and sandwiches. From the menu, the Banh Mi sounded interesting, a housemade pork paté, pork terrine, and duck bologna(ehh?!). Asian flavours also continue in the Cured Burger with an appearance of katsuobushi(shaved bonito flakes) on top of a house ground bison patty. I approve. I’m excited to try Cured Wine Bar for another round of brunch or lunch and hopefully one day make it for dinner to try their in-house cured meats!

A friend and I went to Cured for an additional event and ended up staying for dinner. The Chacuterrie board had a variety of options to choose from– meats and cheeses paired together with wine. They have a specific collection of local wines on tap– new concept. Owner was welcoming and the staff were very friendly.

Quality of the charcuterie board is mediocre, not enough bread for the size of board and 3 cheeses should be included or maybe 5 bucks more for 3. Wish we would have replaced the rabbit with a second order of duck prosciutto. The braised pork cheek croquettes had very little to no pork and are basically a ball of mashed potato with a crisp Panko coating. This is also true of the lobster arancini; all rice with slight traces of lobster.(It’s not that we were expecting a pile or pork or lobster, but there was literally so little that we were unsure of what it actually was, which is upsetting given the prices). Skipped dessert because the menu here can not be trusted. Very disappointing for the $ 150 bill for 2 people, although I must say we did enjoy the bottle of wine. We had high hopes for this restaurant but will not be back:(.

We went at 6pm on a Saturday night. It wasn’t overly busy and we were seated right away. The ambiance/décor was nice and the server was friendly. We each ordered a glass of wine and a starter to share, then ordered mains about 20 mins later. Our disappointment started when it took over 15 mins to get our glasses of wine, and then our mains showed up and we hadn’t gotten our starter yet. I asked the server and she said she rang in the starter after our mains and that was the reason it wasn’t out yet. I said that didn’t make sense since we ordered our starter way before our mains, and she got flustered and asked if we still wanted it or not, to which we said no, then said sorry and walked away. It’s evident she lied to us about«ringing it in after» which it what was most disappointing, mistakes happen but own up to them. The mains were both dry as well(meatballs and lentil loaf). Overall if the service and food had been great it would have been worth their prices, but as-is the service and food were both poor. Save your money for somewhere else.

Wow! I knew I was going to like Cured, as I am such a fan of Chef Phan Au, but I didn’t know I was going to absolutely fall in love with the place even before having anything to eat! To start off with, the design of the quaint wine bar is just over the top perfect. From the rose gold cutlery to the reclaimed barn wood walls, fabulous bar stools, even the tin roof in the restrooms — I LOVEITALL! I wanted to instantly import all the design elements into my house. Now, on to the food… The menu is currently(will be changing in the next month or so) split into 3 sections: charcuterie, small plates, and entrees. The charcuterie is fantastic, most of the meats are cured in house — and all the accompanying nuts, berries, compotes, mustards, jams, etc are all phenomenal! I also tried 3 of the small plates: lobster arancini, baked brie, and chicken wings. All were so so good — if I had to pick a fave(AKA you want my top pick when trying to make up your mind) it would probably be the brie. All in all, this place is amazing. If you are a downtown dweller, it is totally worth the trip to the«deep south» side for an unforgettable night out. Cin cin darlings!

What a fabulous new spot for south Edmonton! From the moment we walked in the door we loved it! The hostess met us with enthusiasm and sat us right away– on a side note the décor is amazing! Its rustic, without trying too hard, and chic without being too fancy. Our server started out by explaining the charcuterie boards and the wine they have on-top provided from the vineyard exclusively to their restaurant! Right off the bat– she also informed us of a few items they were out of. I really appreciated this because I would’ve been extra disappointed if when I’d finally decided what I wanted, she’d have to tell me they were out. The menu is great for all tastes. There are charcuterie meat/cheese options for nibbles and a great starter. There a small plates if you want to bulk up your board a bit. And if you just plain want dinner– they have a number of large plates as well. It was nice to have the options, instead of being restricted to just small plates. That being said, we’d ended up ordering a board(with 5 meats of our choice)(29 $), added a 1 oz serving of cheese($ 5), and then shared 3 small plates(8 – 15 $). The meats were exquiste, unique, and locally made(4 of 5 were made in house!). The board itself was presented beautifully, with delicious spreads, crispy toasts, spiced nuts, and fresh fruit for a bright bite. We also started with the cured olives and pickled vegetables, and shaved parmesean– so tasty! The vegetables were fresh, crunchy, and pickled perfectly, and the olives offered a nice tang. It was a great portion for $ 8. After we started, we were pretty satisfied, but wanted to try of the small plates for fun. We ordered the grilled peach salad with ricotta, candied nuts, and prosciutto. I’m not a prosciutto person so I left those for my boyfriend, but the rest of the salad was great! The meatballs were a bit overdone and dry, but the homemade tomato relish/sauce was delicious. The desserts sounded delicious, but at this point we were really full(and we’re big eaters!). Will definitely be back! The service was one hundred, décor beautiful, food delicious and fresh, and the wines were great!

Made the trek out to try Cured. We are big fans of the meat + cheese movement and was excited to expand beyond &27 + Woodwork. Walking in, the place showed a lot of promise. Loved the quaint modern rustic design. The gal at the door was prompt and friendly. And the menu read great. Was very impressed after reading the cocktail menu. However, the drinks took a long time and fell short of the description. Could be an execution thing but was let down. The food was good. The warm Brie small plate was nice and well balanced. The goat cheese trio was served right from the fridge and didn’t translate well cold. The dessert was the biggest let down. We waited 30 minutes. The server told us it was made to order and that’s why it took so long. It was not worth the wait. Overall, the place has potential. But fell short for us on our night out.

What a hidden gem. Literally this place is so hidden that, unless you know of it by ear or visit surrounding stores, you will not come across this place. The trio of goat cheese small plate is definitely a must try. I ordered the pork puntanesca which I found very good. It is on the spicy side, which I like, but don’t order of you do not like spicy food. Also ordered the baked lentil«meat» loaf which is a good alternative vegetarian dish in a pork/meat restaurant but do not order of you think this is an actual meatloaf. I washed it all down with the dark lager vanilla beer which wasn’t too strong of a taste as most dark beers go. Just right. Will try their scotches that the have with maybe a charcuterie board next time.

Cured was a very cute little restaurant! We had the charcuterie board, the meatballs, and the lobster arancini for supper. The bill came to somewhere around $ 70 which was a little expensive, but acceptable considering the tone of the restaurant. The service was fairly good. I especially loved the rose gold/copper coloured utensils!

Have been watching and waiting for Cured to open and it’s finally happened. Walking in, the restaurant is beautiful, rustic and elegant st the same time. Loved it! Our server was excellent and she explained how the menu works. We ordered the small charcuterie plate at $ 29.00 which used 5 of the meats that the restaurant makes/smokes in the back kitchen. It was amazing and delicious. There are small plates on the menu so we ordered the trio goat cheese $ 15.00 and the olives and pickled vegetable plate $ 8.00 and to round off the meal we thought we would have a light salad, Flamed broiled peach salad $ 13.00. We had far too much food for 2 people but wanted to try different dishes. The food was all delicious, the charcuterie plate was so well done, there was exceptional smoke flavor on the meats and very generous portions, the olives were smoked and the best we have ever tasted. We can’t emphasis how much we enjoyed every aspect of our meal and we ended up taking home the salad as there was just no room left! If we had any suggestions we thought there should be a few more wines at a lower price point as it felt a bit too high-end on the wine prices unless you were celebrating a special event. Our bill came to just under $ 119.00 and then added a 15% tip for our awesome server. We could easily have had a much smaller bill but were interested in trying a bunch of dishes. Really recommend this restaurant.

Given the restaurant name, it’s no surprise that a large proportion of the menu at Cured is dedicated to customizing your own charcuterie board. All of the cured meats are made in house with exception to the prosciutto, which will be ready next year. Two boards — small and large — are available at $ 29 and $ 43, respectively, where you can choose five different meats. The smaller board is meant for 2 to share, providing 50g of each meat selected, while the large board for bigger groups is presented with 80g per meat selection. For our charcuterie board we ordered the chipotle jerky, maple duck mortadella, air dried beef tenderloin, elk sausage, and venison salami. We also added in some smoked gouda and cave aged gruyère($ 5/1oz.), and the board was beautifully presented with grilled bread, walnuts, almonds, dried cranberries, and housemade condiments of pickled mustard seeds, caramelized onion marmalade, and corn pesto. Of the selection we chose, the duck mortadella, beef tenderloin and venison salami were my favourites. The mortadella is made with Brome Lake duck, and seasoned beautifully with a variety of herbs that really work well together. The tenderloin has a great texture and the flavour of the beef really comes through. The salami on the other hand isn’t overly fatty and has great texture and flavour. I did find myself looking for a smokier chipotle flavour in the jerky, but I did appreciate the moist, chewy character to it. As for the elk sausage, it was quite lean and the game flavour was a little heavy for my liking. Although the charcuterie really shines, it’s a bit of a shame that the cheese selection is a bit lacking. Most of the cheeses are fairly typical and sourced from large distributors. There is a housemade ricotta, and the gorgonzola and gouda are slightly altered by a smoking process done in house, but I would love to see more of Alberta’s local cheeses and unique varieties on the menu. That being said, our smoked gouda had a deep smoky flavour we really enjoyed and it complimented the meats we ordered. We were pretty impressed with all the accompaniments to the board and we liked being able to customize it. It was also more filling than we had imagined! Following the charcuterie board we ordered a couple small plates that piqued our interest. I was excited to spot the Pan Seared Shishito Peppers($ 14) on the menu, and they were cooked in a sweet soy reduction and topped with toasted sesame seeds. The dish at Cured gives you a substantial portion of peppers, and soy reduction is actually cooked with some red chili peppers, so there is an element of heat to the dish. Unfortunately I found that the sauce was overly reduced, sticking heavily to the peppers and making them quite salty. With the sauce thinned out a bit, it would have been perfect. The Lobster Arancini($ 16) was recommended to us, and I love a good ball of arancini! Cured makes theirs with saffron Arborio rice and snow peas and serves it with a spicy aioli and shaved grana padano. Biting through the crisp outer layer led to a heavy and dense ball of rice, peas and lobster. The arancini could use more seasoning, and in my opinion, a lot more cheese to make it gooey and addicting. There’s lots of potential here, so with some tweaking, it could end up being pretty good arancini. Our last savoury dish of the evening was the Flame Broiled Peach Salad($ 13) with slivered prosciutto, housemade ricotta, candied walnuts, and mixed greens. The salad came out beautifully presented on a slate board, but unfortunately wasn’t quite what I was expecting. As peaches are in season I was hoping to find fresh, juicy peaches in this salad, but found the canned variety instead, grilled and lacking moisture. The housemade ricotta was smooth and creamy, but lacking in flavour and moisture to lend to the dry greens. The prosciutto was abundant and delicious, but there was almost too much of it, making the salad saltier than expected. Given how dry the salad was, it would have benefitted with a dressing. It’s another dish with lots of potential, but unfortunately lacked in execution. To finish off our night we ordered the Honey Poached Pear($ 8) with ice wine gatrique and Pinocchio vanilla bean ice cream. The pear wasn’t too sweet, but I did wish for it to be poached a bit softer and served warm. The ice cream was fragrant and creamy, balancing the acidity of the gastrique. The charcuterie is clearly the star of the menu, as it should be. Although there were some hiccups in the small plates, the restaurant was very receptive to feedback, and hopefully they can iron out the kinks with a bit of time. Service was great and the staff were knowledgeable when it came to their offerings. Cured is very much committed to supporting local producers and sustainability, and it would be great to see this reflected in the menu.

Abso-freakin-lutely fantastic — It really doesn’t get any better than this! We stopped in the other day after our trip to nearby«Real Deal Meats» and I instantly fell in love with the décor and atmosphere of this charcuterie restaurant. We spoke with the owner, Field, for a few minutes, and picked up a menu, because as luck would have it, they weren’t even open yet. However, all weekend long, this trendy restaurant that was opening in the South occupied our thoughts– We hadn’t even eaten there yet, and we were inviting friends! And so, tonight, on opening night, we were the 2nd table to be served! I am oh-so-happy to report that the food and the service are even more impressive than the décor(even with the flying pigs!) We ordered a $ 29 cured meats board and simply requested the chef’s choice — My favourites were the air dried beef and the venison, along with the bourbon jelly.(You can take a girl out of Kentucky but you can’t take Kentucky out of a girl!) Additionally we split the Crispy Garlic Ginger wings and my husband had a glass of wine. The cured meats board was incredibly beautiful and came complete with some fruits and nuts(and a cheese that we ordered for an additional price). All together, we were in $ 65 — worth every penny — and we came home with a small container of leftovers because we were both satisfied. Our waitress, Dana, was very attentive — wonderfully personable and knowledgable.(She recognized where the meat had previously been on the board — even after I’d flipped it around and eaten all of it — well enough to identify what it was that I liked so much!) She was also able to explain the menu and agreed that we had chosen well with the chicken.(None of that came home by the way!) At the end of our meal, we were grateful to sample some dessert(despite not having any room) «This Brittle Piggy» came to our table and I think I speak on behalf of both of us when I say I could imagine going back just for this! Cured — you’re at the top of my list for places to eat and I’m delighted to have you in our neck of the woods! Keep up the wonderful work!
