Jax is now overpriced, I’m afraid, and it could do with a good scrub. The unisex washroom/toilet, in particular, is filthy. I could be wrong, but it appears as if Jax is on its last legs to me.

While I find both the inside and outside of Jax to be slightly off-putting I cannot deny they make a wonderful latte. I went with a large french vanilla and felt it was a really good size for the $ 4.95 that I paid. The not to sweet and not to strong taste was exactly how I wish french vanilla’s came from Tim Horton’s when I order them there. Jax also has a food menu that is quite reasonably priced and offers a good variety. I like that I can get things like nacho’s here if im in the mood for something more filling than a sandwich or soup like alot of other coffee places offer. Jax could easily be on the same level as alot of the coffee shops down on Whyte if they would do something about the atmosphere. The inside is very dark and the furniture is in pretty rough shape like for instance the table I sat at while waiting for my latte which was covered in burn marks. I will continue to come in for great take out or for some quiet time to be alone with my thoughts but I can’t see myself bringing friends in to hang out and catch up. It just doesn’t have that kind of a vibe to it… don’t just take my word for it though go and try it for yourself!

This place is awesome. It looks sketchy from the outside but don’t let it scare you. There is a great selection of teas. They also serve food that is decent and well priced. The owner is so cool and the vibe is nice. There are younger crowd during the evening. This place has a lot of weird stuff that don’t seem to go together. There is a decent selection of shisha/hookah from flavours to bottles and all the stuff you need to have a good shisha experience at home. Overall great tea/shisha spot.

Love Jax! It is eclectic for sure and the make the best bubble tea in Edmonton. They are friendly and even if you don’t go extremely regularly after you’ve been there a few times they seem to remember you… I wasn’t sure about going there from seeing it on the outside but now I’m soo happy I decided to just stop in and check it out.

Take 2 parts coffee shop, grind. Add 1.5 parts tea specialty store, add hot water. Throw in 3 parts easy to prepare Chinese food, steam thoroughly. Add in 2 parts shisha bar, smoked. Finish with a pinch of internet café and bubble tea. And viola, you have Jax. Very cleaver, very innovative, very diversified. I am impressed. I come here often and I have always found the service great. They have great green tea as well as quite the assortment of loose tea you can purchase. I don’t really like their cheesecake as I find it too sweet. Good coffee. Decent simple sandwiches. I’d give this place 3.5 stars. Round up for impressive creativity and being a rare option for independent coffee shops in the area.

What the hell IS this place? That’s what you will inevitably find yourself asking as soon as you step into Jax Beanstop. The massively overpopulated window displays might make you nervous about the quality of the establishment, but just keep walking. Trust me. Inside, prepare to be confused. When I was there(in MARCH), Christmas decorations were still up. Random paintings adorned the walls. Giant green bows too. There’s a corner full of televisions and a little kitchen area where all the magic happens. And boy, is there a ton of magic. JAX feels like they had no idea what they wanted to be — a restaurant, a shisha bar, a café, a bistro, or a supermarket full of weird knick-knacks. They make bubble tea. They make sandwiches. They make a bunch of asian dishes. You can buy a fresh pineapple. You can buy tea, or have them whip you up a latte. You can smoke shisha. You can have a beer and watch the game. You can host your LAN party here. I bet they’d set up a bowling alley for you. It’s sort of like the owners said, «Screw it, we’ll do EVERYTHING!». And then they did. Anyways, I had a peach bubble tea and some onion rings. Both were good, but the Asian men behind the counter had to call in backup after my group ordered what I’m sure was a quantity of food they’ve never had to prep all at once before. From out of nowhere vaporized two delightful ladies who frantically put together orders and mixed bubble teas. So while it’s a completely confused establishment with no real identity, that almost BECOMES its identity in a weird, meta-physical way. Eerie.

I love this place! Its an absolute favorite of mine: D Its my go to bubble tea place and its great! I get strawberry banana with green tea bubbles(not a fan of the tapioca bubbles). The people there are VERYVERY friendly and customer service is number one. There food is also really good! The décor could use an upgrade and I am not a fan of how they allow people to smoke the hooka inside like that, I have found it’s become increasingly popular with younger high school kids and they kind of take over the place in the evenings so its not a great atmosphere then. But if you go early evening its a great place to hang out!

Out on the very north side of town, Jax is a cute(and quirk-ily named) little café in a much larger strip mall. The décor is very«crazy-great-aunt’s house.» Lots of little knick knacks for sale, and then you turn around, and bam! Hookahs for sale, too! It’s kind of funny. My chai latte was very good, and I really like the milkshake style glass it came served in. There are lots of seats here to choose from, and they have free wifi if you need to camp out for the day. The gentleman working there is also the owner, I think. He was very nice and the lattes were made to perfection. Yum yum!

Very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. They also have hookah there, which is flavored tobacco in a pipe.
