I came in here for a work lunch and left in love with the food. If somebody had told me I was going to find some of the best hot wings I have ever had at a higher end restaurant downtown I would have laughed at them but after having a plate of the most meaty and perfectly sauced wings placed in front of me my misconceptions have been silenced. You also have to leave room for dessert if your coming here or more specifically leave room for their heavenly key lime pie. I don’t know if I just have bad luck or am not looking in the right places but I find great key lime pie impossible to locate in this city. The pie here is perfect though with a just right about of sweetness and tartness. Oh and we can’t forget the mountain of whipped cream that would make even the most hardened health nut totally giddy for this treat! The staff here were so unbelievably attentive and friendly I tipped way beyond what I usually leave. If your downtown looking for a place to lunch with coworkers or a nice night out with a special someone don’t just take my word for it… get yourself in here and experience some of the best food and hospitality the downtown core has to offer!

A little torn. This has always been one of my favourite locations and therefore I was back this past weekend. And again, the food … bang on! I tried the ribs for the first time and really enjoyed them! The meat fell off the bone, sauce was flavorful and the dill slaw tangy and delicious! However, the server was slow and uninterested. Very slow getting to refills, and getting the drinks to the table. Over 10 minutes to get the first drinks to the table. And, I was only able to order one more throughout the rest of the dining experience. At one point she actually looked directly at us and all of our empty glasses and then continued to walk by. They haven’t lost me as a customer … i just hope that this isn’t the trend at this location.

I have been coming here for many years and I usually have a good experience but it had been some time since I was here last. I came here on the weekend for drinks with a friend. The hostesses that greeted us were very friendly. They offered seating in the lounge or in dining. Since we weren’t planning on eating anything, we grabbed a table in the lounge by the window. It was great. The atmosphere was pleasant and the mood was high. Their sangrias were on special so we decided to order one which turned into two because they were quite delicious! Our server was fantastic. She checked on us regularly and made sure our drinks were tended to and left us a menu in case we decided to get some treats. The music wasn’t overly loud so it was easy to have a great visit with my friend. Glad I revisited this old gem.

I came here with my girlfriend for our 2 year anniversary and it was my first time. Our waitress Katrina had snaked me on the bill. I was indecisive for two steaks so she offered one of the steaks along with the sauce of the other steak without informing me that I would be charged for the sauce of the other steak meaning I was being charged for the price of both steaks when I only had ordered 1 steak !!! 40 bucks for fcking additional sauce? Ridiculous… My order of my steak with the sauce it originally came with was only 26 bucks so not bad. Out of all, everything was good, the crowd was dressed as if it was boston pizza. Just watch out for that snake waitress Katrina. She lost my two stars for Joeys.

This is still one of my favorite places to get together with friends for drinks and a bite. Also to people watch, always beautiful eye candy at this location compared to all the other Joey’s :p I also like that you can reserve the private room for parties. I have had a birthday dinner here and again another one tonight. Bonus especially if you want to book for a Saturday night, as lots of places won’t take reservations for big parties on Saturdays. Never had issues with the service. Got a bit late to the party, but even before I was seated, I was asked if I wanted to order a drink right away. With the amount of people there, our waiter was always attentive, kept checking on everyone and re-filling water. Food as another reviewer mentioned would be comparable to Moxie’s and Earl’s, but I would say they are just slightly better. It’s been over 8 months since I have been back to Joey’s, but noticed that prices have gone up a bit on things(guess bound to happen). I had the grilled cheese and lobster sandwich($ 19.25) with yam fries($ 2). It is a bit expensive in my view for basically a small grilled sandwich and not much lobster. Thought I would try something else instead of my go to here, the Ahi Tuna burger, which I would definitely recommend to try. I’d say be prepare to spend on average $ 40 here for a meal and a couple of drinks(not including tip), but that’s on par with places like this. As well, they have a very nice patio in the summer, though wait times for one can be long. This is still one of my fave places due to great service and atmosphere.

Great location, nice décor, the waitresses are pretty but the service suffers, noticed it is especially slower since Cactus Club has moved in down the street. TIPS: –Chocolate lava cake takes about 20 mins to make, so order ahead of time if you are on a time crunch –Veggie burger, is not the best in the city. Patty is mushy and falls apart, which makes it very hard to eat. There are random crunchy buts in it. Weird texture. Overall unappealing. Moxies and Cactus Club have better veggie burgers.

I walk past JOEY every day on my way home from work but it never really grabbed my attention. Until this summer, when I started noticing the giant, comfortable looking patio. Anyways, when my friend and I were deciding where to go for an after-work drink I suggested the patio at JOEY. Sadly… by the time happy hour rolled around the weather was dreary and we went inside. My initial impressions(upon entering the lounge) was that it was really dark and LOUD. There were only a handful of people, but the music was so loud I found myself getting a headache and having difficulty hearing my friend. The server was attentive and pleasant enough. I never had to wait to order a drink and I didn’t feel too bothered to keep ordering. I was a little disappointed that JOEY doesn’t do happy hour specials, but they do have daily drink specials. The Monday Bellini was a-okay. Not something I’d ever order again(it was like drinking pure sugar) but it was a good price and did the trick for a quick after work drink. As far as the food went, we split the Chicken Lettuce Wraps as well as the Yam Fries. The lettuce wraps were really really good flavour-wise, but there was next to no chicken. I got maybe 2 half inch pieces and my friend reported the same from what she had. For something that claims to contain meat, I would expect more than a morsel. The yam fries were also really great… flavourful and the perfect texture. Again, though, the serving was terrible. For $ 8 we received the equivalent of a small McDonald’s fries. It was quite literally the saddest order of yam fries I’ve ever seen in my life. I don’t expect a basketful when I’m at a nicer restaurant, but I was at a similarly priced restaurant just the other week and received an order of Yam fries triple the size. Overall, my impression of JOEY is that the food is quite good, but the atmosphere is a little too ultra-lounge like and, considering the portion sizes, it’s too expensive.

The Joeys at Jasper is a standard Joeys location. There is nothing special about the décor, but it is a hotspot and a place for some to be seen. One of its best attributes is the free parking behind the restaurant, which is a rarity in downtown. Service is generally acceptable and the staff are dressed to impress to say the least. The food is fairly good and nothing different than any other Joeys. My personal favorite dish is the Beach salad, which has candied pecans, greens, grilled Cajun chicken, avocado, and poppyseed dressing with greens. It was done very nicely on our meal today. I normally sub out the goat cheese for feta. Overall, the experience at Joeys is almost always a positive one. Good eats, good atmosphere, and good service. :)

We came here for dinner the other night. We ordered the fish tacos entrée as our appetizer. I was surprised by how good it tasted. The fish was light and crunchy. For my entrée I ordered a medium rare steak with blue cheese. It was very tender, juicy and savory. I thought it was unique how the side of mashed potatoes was wrapped and fried in an egg roll wrapper. For dessert we shared a molten lava cake with raspberries, vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. The food was delicious and our waitress was great. I would come to Joey’s again for a special occasion, only because its not cheap to eat here.

SOANNOYED. I went to Joey’s for the first time yesterday, the food and drinks were great and I had a very nice server. However, when the bill came for $ 31 for two margaritas, a pop and a small $ 4 order of fries. It stated ONTHEDRINKMENU that a lime margarita was $ 7.75, however, i got charged $ 12.50 each. I asked the server(who was extremely nice and helpful) but the manager said because a certain kind of alcohol(that I didn’t ask for) was in it, it was almost double the price. Sorry but don’t put a price on a menu and then charge me double. The only reason I paid my bill was because the server was so nice. Disgusted and definitely won’t ever be back.

I kinda feel bad for this joeys. I know I shouldn’t, as they more than made their fair share of money over the years, but with cactus club moving in down the street, this joeys is never busy anymore. I always have the beach salad, and it’s one of the best salads I’ve had. I also tried a bite of my companions glazed salmon rice bowl, very good as well. Only 4 stars because there menu hasn’t changed in sooooooooo long. Keep the beach salad and upgrade the menu!

Let’s get the cons first, Albeit the restaurant is a tad expensive the food and service was really good. With the beer and salmon entrée I received I was first worried it wouldn’t fill me up — at least 25 dollars worth — but alas after finishing the food I was quite full. I only had room for a single scoop of there vanilla bean ice cream. TL:DR: Great food — taste and quality, bit expensive, great staff, would recommend for small groups and or couples on dates.

I came here few months back with a friend of mine because he had a gift card to use, and since I live just a few blocks away I couldn’t resist a free meal! Like any major food chain Joey’s is on par for consistency. Service is generally warm and friendly. The servers always are polished, poised and not a hair out of place. The food will taste for the most part exactly the same as the last time you dined there! Our experience at the Jasper Ave. location was just like every other time! We were greeted the second we walked in the door, promptly brought to our table and before we could even open our menu we were greeted by our server. All a part of their very strict training process I’m guessing! I quickly made a drink choice and then was greeted by another young lady, who I think now is our server… Wait who was that other girl? We placed our order… I chose the Butter Chicken! Our sever let me know the rice was garnished with almonds and currants which I happily agreed to! Ahhh… Drinks are here! Delivered by another girl… This is getting a little confusing! Fast forward… Food arrives! Again… Delivered by someone different! So I have now had 4 different people at my table. While I understand high volume restaurants of this caliber require many service staff to operate, its difficult to know who to tip! Let’s say someone along the way displeased my ideas of good service? Should the person I’m tipping take the fall?! Nevertheless… The food was great! I asked for more naan and was brought more at no charge! My glass was never more than half empty and I didn’t have to look far for one of my many servants! While I usually don’t find myself at these types of establishments, sometimes it’s a nice change of pace.

We enjoyed our visit, it exceeded expectations! Recently went here with a party of 6 for dinner on a Friday night to celebrate a birthday of a friend. I had not been to a Joey’s restaurant in Edmonton but had been to a couple in Vancouver when I was living there, namely Joey Bentall and Joey Burrard. I am happy to say that there is consistency across the chain and we had an excellent dining experience for our group on par with the Vancouver locations. Our party of 6 arrived in three groups of two all within 5 minutes of each other so getting everyone settled in was not an issue. Our server was a charming young lady who was attentive without being overbearing or superficially«plastic» as many servers sometimes are. In addition, the Restaurant Manager came and introduced himself to our table which was a nice touch. We ordered a round of cocktails prior to dinner, these were delivered to the table promptly. As members of our group had not seen each other in a while, we ordered some appetizers [Chili Chicken, Szechuan Edamame and Wings] to nibble while we got caught up and figured out our entrees. The appies all arrived quickly and were very good. Of our party of 6, three went with Steaks, one with Pasta, one with the Lobster Grilled Cheese and one with the Butter Chicken. Additionally, we ordered a bottle of Malbec to enjoy with dinner. Meals were delivered in reasonable amount of time, service was efficient. Everyone enjoyed their meals, kudo’s to the kitchen. We passed on desserts as there was a birthday cake waiting at home for a continuation of the celebration so no report there but there were several attractive options that I’d like to try on a subsequent visit. So sorry for being in the city for two years before trying you out but we really enjoyed our experience and will definitely be back in the near future!

JOEY Jasper is a great spot to grab a drink and have some upscale/casual fare in the heart of downtown. Yes, sometimes the crowd gets douchey, but that’s not enough to stop me from taking in the super-comfortable patio and excellent drink specials! The food is always well-made and fresh. I’ve yet to see anything from my table sent back to the kitchen for adjustments. Service is excellent, although there are occasionally some hiccups. That said, management automatically goes out of their way to fix the situation and that goes a long way to leaving with any feeling that you haven’t been served with excellence. JOEY remains a great downtown restaurant that I’d favourably compare with Cactus Club or Earls Tin Palace.

My friends and I came here on a Sunday evening for dinner. We sat out on the patio because the weather was so beautiful. Our server was excellent; she had perfect timing and was very attentive. I ordered the Rainbow Rolls(really good), and a glass of rose wine. I love the atmosphere of this location because you can people watch while outside or enjoy the company of others in a more intimate environment inside. I’ll be back again for sure!

I came here with 2 coworkers while on a lunch break during a July weekend. It was a hot and beautiful day so we sat outside. Our table didn’t have an umbrella to provide shade, but our server and another employee helped set one up so that we wouldn’t get scorched by the sun. I had eaten before we went, so all I ordered was an appetizer — the ahi tuna tacos. My coworkers both ordered their favourite fish tacos with a side of skinny fries. My ahi tuna tacos were quite tasty. The deep fried wonton wrapper/taco wasn’t overly greasy or over-fried(the worst!). The ginger coleslaw was fairly light(for a coleslaw anyway), cool and refreshing, and the tuna was perfectly seared. I also loved the wasabi aioli — the light green drizzled over the plate was aesthetically pleasing. Great presentation! Our server was friendly and attentive. Over the years I’ve generally avoided the Joey/Cactus Club/Earl chains, as I’ve found them to be quite monotonous, but I believe Joey’s to be the better of the 3 overall, especially in terms of menu items. Because we dined outside, I can’t speak much for the interior, but from what I saw, the décor was dark, sleek, and modern. I had a pleasant experience and would definitely consider Joeys for dining next time! I’m not quite ready to give Joey’s 4 stars, but consider this a 3.5 star review. Maybe next time!

Warning: you will now get a ticket if you are parked in this Joey parking lot for over 2hrs! #crazy! But… I love the patio, the lounge and the ambiance. All my friends and a ton of people I know are always there, every Friday, without fail; rain or shine(or 6 feet of snow!) The food is all so bad for you but by god, it is always consistent(and consistently pretty freaking tasty! — hello tandoori flat bread; I’m talking to you!) They recently(in the last couple of months) re-did the place, it’s warmer, darker, more open but more intimate at the same time. It’s like a cool ski lodge with roaring fires and exorbitantly priced glasses of wine. I know my Unilocaly brain should have a tinge of a hate-on for Joeys, but this particular one is like a home-away-from-home. It has been for years, it’s where I met my other half and fell in love — I can’t imagine staying away… Joey’s Jasper, you are just part of me.

Returned to Joey’s the other week to give them another try. We were greeted upon entering by courteous and friendly hostesses who did not smell of an entire bottle of perfume(in case you read my last review). Hubby and I had eaten supper at another restuarant down the road but didn’t want our evening to be over so we decided to pop into Joey’s to extend our once in a blue moon date night. It was a bustling Saturday night and the restaurant was packed to the gills at about 1030PM. It was difficult to hear one another, even in the restaurant side, probably both because of the number of patrons and the open atmosphere — definitely a hip and happening place to be! We opted for the drink of the day, a Long Island Slush — highly recommened by the server and ordered 2 desserts to share: Their dessert menu only had three options which I found surprising for a restaurant with such a large array of entrees and appetizers on their menu. Never the less we found 2 that sounded great: MOLTENLAVACHOCOLATESOUFFLÉ raspberry coulis & vanilla bean ice cream 7.99 INDIVIDUALLYBAKEDAPPLEPIE toasted almonds, hand-folded puff pastry, caramel sauce with maple ice cream 7.99 After about 15 minutes of waiting, ther server let us know that they needed to remake the individual apple pie as it had been burned. Okay — fair enough, I don’t want a burned apple pie. Our server was attentive in all other regards and was on hand if needed. Upon arrival of the desserts, we were a little disappointed that our molten lava choloclate soufflé had obviously been sitting for a little while as the molten lava was warm and not hot. The vanilla ice cream had melted quite a bit while waiting to make it’s way to our table so it was more of a warm chocolate cake served wtih a side of ½ vanilla ice cream ½ vanilla soup. Don’t get me wrong — the flavor was divine but for $ 7.99 — I think the dessert should have probably been remade when our apple pie had to be remade. The apple pie was fresh and not burnt — I do appreciate that! I don’t recall the ice cream tasting like maple and I think they may have been out of toasted almonds at the time. Sorry Joey’s — it was nothing to write home about. I feel bad giving a 2 star review once again — the service was attentive and friendly — but both dishes were not on par once again. It kinda makes me sad to have to write this but I did promise an update. Perhaps the 3rd time will be the charm or Perhaps fool me once — shame on you, fool me twice — shame on me. Maybe Joey’s and me just aren’t meant to be :-(
