Great little beer selection that has some highlights! Definitely a wine store first but some hidden gems. Be careful with dates (craft beer selection is tricky) but overall good product knowledge and lots of new seasonal items. Pricy but competitive with most big beer stores.

When in need of fabulous wine, this is one of my fave, fave, fave stores! I love the wine selection. I like how it is laid out, I like that I can find brands and vintages that you never see at other, more pedestrian liquor stores. I love that when I grab a bottle as a hostess gift from this sore that a conversation always erupts about where it came from.
I am always exceedingly pleased with the amount and variety of whites that are kept in chilled for immediate consumption. Sometimes a girl just wants to get into the goods! Also, they keep the entire store a chilled to the perfect temperature for the reds, I have to say, I could not work in that chilly of an environment, kudos to the staff! Oh, and speaking of the staff, they are friendly and helpful; most importantly, they leave you alone if you want to just wander around looking at all the lovely bottles.

Liquor select started bringing in a lot of beer last year which is when I started stopping in. The first few times were pretty good and I found quite a few beers that I didn’t see at some of the better beer focused stores in Edmonton. Unfortunately, the prices seemed a bit steep for what I was getting and it kept me from coming back often. Not to mention that the few beers here that I’ve found here, I could ask my regular store to order and they’ll all be a dollar or two cheaper.
The last two times I came, I was pretty disappointed with the selection and ended up leaving with nothing. As with previous Unilocalers, I’ve found the service to be good and bad, but thankfully for me… the good edges it. I’m willing to give these guys a chance though and if I’m in the area, I’ll likely stop if my beer selection at home is light.

I’ve been to several of their wine taste testings, I’ve asked for help with Scotch and beer and had excellent advice every time. The people who work there are a tonne of fun and I’ve never met a snooty employee there!
They even have a bottle of Louis XIII for sale at a competitive price!
I wouldn’t stop anywhere else, except for maybe Sherbrooke for their beer selection.

Usually a decent place to find a bottle of wine, however, I find some of the staff friendly, and yet others very snooty. I cant tell you how many times I come in there wearing a shirt and tie and get good service, however, whenever I arrive in grubby jeans and a tshirt I am sold wine under the raised and snooty nose of some of the staff. One in particular, Jeff, is very condescending and is not afraid to show it. Very disappointed with my last visit and will not return. I much rather enjoy the service at Vinomania on Jasper or Vines in Terwillegar. Both excellent service. Want advise Select… have Jeff hit the bricks and bring these customers back.

Liquor Select has a huge selection of specialty wines, beers, and spirits. The store is quite large and bright compared with other liquor stores, and it offers wine tastings and other special events on a regular basis. This is definitely an upscale place place for discerning customers.
For me, I enjoy specific kinds of microbrews and the huge cooler contains bottles and cans of just about every kind of beer both domestic and imported. Many of the beers are sold by the bottle, so I have been able to try out a lot of different kinds without having to buy them in multiples.
There is a selection of kosher wine here, and you can also order in items not on the shelves. One time I went in here needing a corkscrew to open a bottle of wine I received as a Christmas present, and they gave me one for free! The staff here are very knowledgeable about wine and spirits, and happy to answer questions.
