They now have new management at this restaurant and renamed it but the food is amazing! By far my family’s favourite restaurant. If you are craving for some«real“kebabs you will be served! A little crowded on week-ends, I would recommend going during week days or for lunch.

Since the new owners took over and renamed the restaurant it is packed. The food quality is very good and a vast improvement over the quality previously. Tender meat, fresh salads and side dishes and good portions. If I had one complaint, it would be that they need a half portion for children and they need to make the place bigger. Rush hour is crazy and the ques are long. Great sign that the food is good. Nice to have this place to come to in our neighbourhood.

I’ll keep this one short and sweet. We went here as our beloved Co Do Hue was closed(stupid Tuesdays!). Located right beside Phở Du, we went for lunch to try Mashawee with three of my co-workers. Be warned now: a) Service is SLOW(took around 20 – 25 minutes to cook my lamb kebob pita sandwich) b) Prices are expensive for the amount of food you get(although in hindsight, should have ordered their lunch specials which are $ 10) c) They were OUT of chicken schwarma and falafel at noon! WHAT?!? How can you be out of your two main staple food items before the lunch rush… d) Pretty salty We each got a pita sandwich(lamb kebob, beef schwarma and two chicken kebob pita’s). Lamb one is $ 9 with the others $ 7-$ 9 each. My one buddy and I left still hungry afterwards, never a good sign. Won’t be back! Also, I should probably mention — 99% sure we got food poisoning from them. I had the chills last night… same thing with my one friend. Awesome stuff. Wow.

The service at this restaurant is good and the food is great, especially since its cooked over charcoal. They also have good lunch specials for not a bad price. I don’t know much about Lebanese food but a friend of mine who’s somewhat of an expert on ethnic food says this place is legit. Either way it’s definitely worth checking out. And that’s all I have to say about that.

We have been here several times and it is a love/hate. The service and staff is good. The food is good, when it is good. When it is «off» it is average at best. I have had brilliant food here depending on the cook, it seems. And when it is «on» it is probably the best in the city. But when it is «off» it is not all that good. I have been eating here since it opened and like the place… but it is not consitent. But as far as north edmonton Lebanese food, it is the only place to go.

The glorious 2 for 1 coupon strikes again, after getting some sweet haircuts we decided to grab something quick to eat before heading to a phenomenal meal at Corso 32(you’ll hear about it later). Trying to find something on the northside we flipped through and landed upon Mashawee, we were both pretty intrigued because neither of us have ever had Lebanese food before and didn’t really have any idea as to what we were getting into. Upon arrival the place looked really nice from the outside and the inside just as much. It had a really warm feeling when you came in but definitely not from the staff. Looking about the menu, a full plate of food which looked enormous cost around $ 12 – 15 dollars. We decided to just go with the kabob pitas($ 7.50 ea). Once we were ready to order we headed up to the counter and I adorned the 2 for 1 coupon which seemed to haze all of them and send them into some sort of defense mode. Like my coupon was uncalled for and they had no idea what was going on, which was understandable if not many, or if any had ever come in with one before. After lots of standing around and talking(weren’t speaking English so I had no idea what was going on) a phone call was made to whom I’m assuming was the owner. Yadda yadda yadda he was rude and until he realized I was mad he finally said, ok, sorry and I handed the phone back. We finally got our food(with my 2 for 1 haha) and were on our way. It was definitely not worth the hassle. I wasn’t a fan of the pickled cabbage in my beef kabob pita as well as there wasn’t too much flavor packed in. The chicken was much better, it also had some sort of potato-y thing in it and the sauce was tzatiki like. This will be a never return for me !

Well I would probably prefer to give 2.5 stars as an A-OK rating. Average at best. We came here for someone’s going away party. It’s your typical take out restuarant like a Subway or BK with limited seating. They accomodated us well given the size of the crowd. They don’t have a website so that was already 1 star off. I ordered the Kafta lunch. For those unfamiliar with kafta, it’s ground beef on a stick. The kafta was dry and was not full of seasoning. It came with rice and a salad. They brought out a bag of heated pita bread to out table to fend for ourselves. Also we ordered the grape leaves(dolmades to you Greeks). It came with your typical garlic dip which looked like it was homemade, which I don’t mind. A little small side dish. That was alright. In the end, our friendly server/cashier brought us mini baklawas. Desserts always raise the bar for the ratings. All in all, I think I was thrown off by the actual kafta portion being too dry. This place was way out of my way in the North end and since I don’t even venture north of Kingsway, except for work, I highly doubt I would visit again.

I was looking for a place for lunch and drove past Maghawee Lebanese Grill and turned around. Lebanese fast food was something I hadn’t tried before. Maghawee Lebanese Grill specializes in Lebanese cuisine. The focus of their menu is kabobs and pitas and everything is cooked while you wait. No warmed up or steam tray food here. When you walk in you’re greeted by fabulous Lebanese scents which make your appetite that much stronger. I ordered the chicken kabob meal from their lunch menu and a pop. The price was a bit high for lunch, but I wanted it. As I waited in my banquette I listened to Lebanese music coming from the music videos on the wall mounted TV’s. The server brought my lunch to me and then I realized why it was the price it was. Warm steamed pits, garlic dip, grilled chicken kabob, humus, tabbouleh, Lebanese veggies and cinnamon rice was what was for lunch. Yum! I was half way through my meal when the server came to check on me — good service, not too pushy and not not interested. Many people came and went during the course of my lunch for dine in and take out, which in my books is a good sign. After I finished my meal I was intercepted on my way to the washroom by the owner baring baklava for me. My gosh, this was the best baklava I’ve had — not too sweet or dripping with honey. He told me they have been in business since December and was glad that I enjoyed my lunch. That small gesture and general inquiry about my experience will make me come back. The only thing I suggest is they have breath mints at the till because you’ll leave with garlic breath, and that is a good thing.
