Too early and no time for Cora’s… Had enough Tim’s… Micky’D’s it is. Can only attest to drive through as I dind’t go in. Service was friendly and… grown up. Food… Edible. I must admit. This was my first McWrap. Sausage, cheese, eggs… and the hadhbrown all rolled up in one of their large wraps. At $ 3.99…it was a cobsiderably larger portion, and better quality them the BLT bagel($ 3.69) I got as an accompaniment. I don’t know why I still fall for these. The«bagels» are always hard and never satisfying. Oh well. I’m full. On with my day.

Because I have young children, McDonald’s is a regular weekly treat for us. And because we live in Northern Alberta with 6 months of snow, my preference is always one with a play place for the kids to try and burn off some of the junk food! This location has a clean, modern, and open feel; one of the first to be renovated here. The play space is a fave of the kids and not too many golden arches have play spaces these days. This is one of the better ones. As far as food, I can honestly say that when we come I just have a coffee. I’m not a fan of the food or quality of McD and as soon as my kids outgrow the Happy Meal desire, we won’t be back.

I don’t usually bother reviewing fast food places. I’m sure a big machine like McDonald’s gives less than a rat’s ass about Unilocal reviews but customer service at this store today reached epic levels of SUCK and this story needs to be told. Everything I’m about to relate is a true story and the names of the participants have NOT been changed to protect their privacy. A little backstory: I went to their drive-thru this morning and paid for my breakfast with my McD’s card. The server tells me that the meal came to $ 10.16 which she said was exactly what was left on the card. Then she chucked the card into a pile. Later on that morning I decided to check the receipt as I thought it was a weird coincidence that the amounts were the same. It turned out that there was a balance of $ 9.48 left on the card. Moral of the story? – know your card balances. Don’t rely on the retailer/restaurant to keep track for you and don’t take their word for it. But that’s not the epic SUCK I spoke of in the first paragraph. My wife called the restaurant and told them what happened. They said to come back to the restaurant and talk to Nolan, N-O-L-A-N, and he would give us the card back. Later on that day we drove all the way back to 100 Avenue for the sole purpose of getting the card. When we got there my wife politely asked young Nolan if the restaurant could compensate us for their mistake. After all, we had to go out of our way to pick up the card. Even if they had offered to reload the card for the amount we spent on gas to drive back there that would have been a decent gesture. Nolan responds: «Wellllllll, it was an honest mistake. It’s not like she was stealing from you and you did get your food after all.» First off, we weren’t accusing anyone of stealing. I realize it was an honest mistake, just like I honestly didn’t know the amount on the card. I informed Nolan of the pain in the ass it was to have to drive all the way back there. I could see that the young man was starting to lose his cool and at this point he went to what I assume must be his boss, Natiche(spelling?). He says to Natiche, «I just gave them their card back and now they want compensation.» Now play that sentence back in your head and imagine a self-entitled punk-ass teenager who just had the car taken away from him for a week and that will give you an idea of young Nolan’s attitude. He then stormed off in a huff into a back room. Now Natiche: He stood there and looked at us as if we were two Jehovah’s Witnesses who just showed up at his door. Then without a word he turned around and walked to the ice cream machine, dispensed some vanilla into a cone, and offered it to us, like he was trying to appease a child. I thought that service like this only happened on sitcoms. I don’t usually like to complain at fast food restaurants because I don’t want to end up being like the guy on Fast Times at Ridgemont High that got Judge Reinhold fired. But in instances like this, I don’t mind being the cantankerous old guy. What happened in the morning with the card was a mistake. What happened later on with little Nolan and Natiche was not a mistake. That was just clueless indifference, not to mention condescending and rude.

I’ve never had any issues with this location after many visits. The staff is friendly knowledgeably and efficient. They have a double drive thru which moves the line faster then any McDonald’s in Edmonton. The restaurant is clean even when it’s busy. I have never come across the dreaded overflowing garbage at this location. Faux fireplace and TV’s in some of the booth i is a nice step up from your average McDonald’s. A full sized kids playground in a separate room keeps the crying yelling munchkin noise to a minimum. The Food is McDonald’s I assume you have had McDonald’s before so my rating neither hurts nor helps based on the food. Need a description. It’s Salty, sugary junk food you either love it or don’t go to McDonald’s. By Far my favorite location in Edmonton :)

I wanted stuff from the value menu. I ordered a value menu chicken sandwich and value menu mc double. Why did my mcChicken come out to being 5.09 ?$ lol lady couldn’t understand me since she didn’t speak proper English. I just pid however much it was and left. I take my time very serious.

The dining room could be cleaner, but the service is good and the orders are prepared correctly. All in all, this is a good McDonald’s location.

Double drive through tells you how busy this McDonalds is. Even at midnight, there can be line ups in both lines which is better than one long line in the way of cars in the parking lot. There is one line that has the menu and the other line doesn’t so this is good if you know what you want. The orders are taken alternating between the lines which is good. It can get cramped when turning to the pick up window. Haven’t had any issues with the correctness of the order and friendliness of the drive through staff. Maybe the line ups aren’t as bad at 3 or 4AM on a weekday. I’ve only been inside once or twice and believe there’s a kids’ area and decent amount of seating. It’s just a matter of someone ensuring the tables are clean from the previous customers which doesn’t seem to happen so promptly at McDonalds.

If you’re going to work in customer service in a country that speaks either English or French, you should speak either English or French. If you’re learning, while doing so you can do things like cook on a line, work stock somewhere, and work on your english with your english speaking co-workers. When I receive a rude employee working customer service who doesn’t even speak my language, I get right pissed off. The lady that made and gave me my food was very polite, my order was correct, and they even remembered my straw. Overall, still a terrible experience and I’ll look to avoid your location in the future.

I know its strange to write a review of a MDonalds since we’ve all been to one and they are all pretty much the same. However this one has something special. In the mornings they have the sweetest old lady working the drive-thru who is an absolute delight. She’s energetic, happy, engaging, focused… All the things you wouldn’t expect from a fast food diner. The food is McDonalds and I don’t think I need to review that part, but its so great to get terrific service from a drivethru.
