I often come here for the salad wraps. To stay or to go. My husband LOVES the bread they use for the sandwiches. So fresh. Great soups too. The price is right! Sometimes they don’t have time to wash the tables because they are always so busy. They have 2 bistro tables out on the front sidewalk. The bathroom is not horrible.

I was hoping to compare this to V sandwiches, but what I ordered was so different its hard to compare. The chicken satay was a mildly spicy yellow curry sandwich. Soft on the inside with a thin chewy crust. I had the combo with wonton soup and a can of pop for $ 9. Only complaint is I didn’t know it was cash only. They have an ATM but I only had visa on me, so I had to walk to get my wallet and then to the bank three blocks down and back again. It was still worth it. I’ve only ever had Bahm Mi twice. Once here and once at V’s. Both are excellent

Hours suck. Maybe my review isn’t justified but either way it seems like they’re open a lot less often then most places.

This is the best lunch option on Whyte, especially if you’re a vegetarian. They have an extensive vegetarian selection that are all affordable, with great combo options. The sandwiches are flavourful and delicious. They let me call ahead to order for my short lunch break, and it was ready to go when I got there. I could eat here every day!

Great sandwiches for a great value! Don’t believe the glitzy hype of the other Vietnamese sandwich places on Whyte, Nhon Hoa is the BEST! I love the grilled pork! The bread is so deliciously crisp and the meat is super yummy. If you’re vegetarian I suggest getting the vegetarian juicy meatball sub, I think it’s bean curds and I know it’s delicious! There’s parking in the back which is a major plus for Whyte Ave and the ppl are great!

I have been coming here for lunch for years, first when I worked on Whyte Ave and now when I’m in the area and feeling peckish. It has always been run by the same couple who have been making the same great food and I hope they change as little as they need to. I haven’t tried everything on the menu as I tend to go for the lunch combos but the subs are tasty and straightforward(the combo with head cheese for me, please), the wonton soup is simple and delicious, the rice and noodle dishes are better than their simple names would indicate. Generally these sorts of hole-in-the-wall eateries have something special about them and this place is special for sure.

Excellent sandwiches! Everything tastes so fresh! Lots of choices, reasonable prices, and good seating. Have been here many times and look forward to coming back many more times.

There really are only two choices for a banh mi when you’re on central Whyte Ave: Nhon Hoa and V Sandwiches. Nhon Hoa has the benefit of being very small and intimate, and the meat tastes better. Where else can you get a tasty sammich for a mere $ 5 that’s at once familiar yet different from the everyday? For such a tiny shop, Nhon Hoa offers an extensive menu of simple yet flavourful dishes. Great for a casual weekend lumch or just before you’re headed to a bar or club to drink the night away. Want to switch it up a bit? Extra pâté and extra peppers makes for a way more exciting sub experience.

After reading other reviews, I decided to go ahead and try this place. As I walked in, I saw a man putting up new menu signs on the wall, so I assume they just raised their prices. You can now get a sub for $ 6(which is still pretty good pricing) or a combo meal, which includes a sub, a can of pop and two egg rolls for $ 7. This time around, I got the satay chicken sub and it was delicious. I tried another Vietnamese sub place on Whyte earlier this week(V Sandwiches) and if I had to choose between that one and Nhon Hoa, well… that’s a though call. The only difference I found was in the bread. I haven’t tried anything else on their menu but I’ll sure be coming back. Note: Cash only

Good subs. Can’t beat it for the price. Do NOT get the Phở. For some reason I thought it might be good so I have it a try. Probably the worst Phở I’ve ever had. Stick to the samiches and you’re gonna like this place!

So, so, sooooo good! I love these long skinny Vietnamese subs! I love that they are cheap, $ 4 to fill me up! I love the flavour of the pulled pork mixed with the crispy cucumber, cilantro and jalapeño veg that perfectly balances the flaky bun. I love that this little shop is accessible with parking around the corner. I totally crave Nhon Hoa and can’t wait to go back! It is cash only, but they do have an ATM! Next time you are cruising along Whyte and you need a fast and cheap lunch(or pre-dinner), drop in and give it a try!

I always park in front of Nhon Hoa but I finally stopped in for a quick snack the other day. First of all, I was surprised at how huge the menu was! At least a dozen varieties of subs, if not more, on a huge board up on the wall. Plus a few different soups and many kinds of rolls. I noticed a few vegetarian options as well. Sandwiches were cheap! The most basic ones were $ 4 and I think the priciest was only $ 4.75. Fantastic. I got a combo deal with a non-basic sub, two spring rolls and a pop and it came out to less than $ 8. Sandwich came pretty quickly. I did see the spring rolls lounging under a hot light, but they still tasted good. The sandwich was fresh and tasted good. Cash only!

F*** Yes! The subs here are amazing. Anytime I’m in the area I stop in. A combo can cost you less than $ 8. Fast food is not an option if you have a chance to stop by Nhon Hoa Sandwich Bar. Only kicker, No debit. Cash only.

I continue to comeback to enjoy the soup and subs and the great value, and recently they put new tables and chairs in their eatery. I was told their older patrons had difficulty using the chair’s they didn’t have enough back support. I recently ordered their cold cuts combo sub, with a small order of won ton soup– to take home. The sub was fresh and crispy and the soup broth was very tasty. Ill keep returning for the taste and over all quality. It is best to bring cash, as they don’t take debit, the last time I was there there was a problem with the portable bank machine. Food prices are very low under 5 bucks, with a great variety of food to choose from. I’ll be back for my next Vietnamese sub fix, I usually ask for a small side of hot sauce to dip my sub into-its always yummy and a must try if you haven’t been there yet! They also have bubble teas but I have yet to try them.

Nice little Viet sandwich shop. As a hard core fan of Van Loc in the Avenue of Nations, I found this place lacked some of the traditional details. The bread was not as good and wasn’t toasted, so lacked that crunch. But flavours were fresh and a nice change from subs from the big chains. They do have a good selection, including vegetarian options. Certainly worth a try.

Awesome! Since I haven’t eaten meat in how many years??, I haven’t had a banh mi sandwich in what seems like forever… obviously. Was visiting Edmonton and walked past this place and noticed the tofu sandwich options. Boy, was I glad I did! Vegetarian chicken satay option as well! Just say no to the mayo and you have yourself a yummy vegetarian Viet sandwich! Bring on the vermicelli noodles and carrots– and trust me, you can’t have enough cilantro! YUM! Cheap cheap cheap and Yum Yum Yum!

Sure — this still beats Subway, but I think that Nhon Hoa serves the least tasty Banh Mi I’ve ever had. Why? 1) The bread — on a Saturday afternoon, mine tasted kinda stale. For my subs, I like my baguettes soft, fresh, and light. 2) No pickled daikon — Banh mi is never complete without pickled daikon. I liked a few things about my sandwich: a) The Price — $ 4 for a sub with cold cuts b) The Cold Cuts — yeah, they were still tasty To top it off, Nhon Hoa is cash only. And I don’t like carrying cash. And this place isn’t worth paying $ 5(to use their cash machine) or walking down to Shopper’s Drug Mart(to buy something and getting cash back — Whyte Ave is strangely underserved by Credit Union ATMs).

I discovered this little gem after visiting Flirt cupcakes next door. I was quite intrigued when I saw their sign advertising vietnamese sandwiches. I had only tried a vietnamese sandwich once and it wasn’t from an ethnic restaurant, so I was anxious to try. The store itself is a little run down and not very attractive, however, that didn’t dissuade me. They had a vast selection of vietnamese dishes, but I was only interested in the sandwiches. There was a younger couple running the place and were friendly enough. I ordered a pulled pork and chicken sandwich combo, which included a full sandwich(sub), two salad rolls and a pop all the $ 7.25! How could you beat that? The sandwich was very tasty and fresh, as were the salad rolls. I’ve been looking for an affordable vietnamese sandwich place, and now I’ve found one!

The subs here are excellent and cheap. The place doesn’t look like much, and it’s fairly basic inside. But, tasty food at low prices. I’ll be back for sure.

Vietnamese subs are so delicious and Nhon Hoa is one such beacon of hope on Whyte Ave that serves up a variety of subs, along with soups and side orders. What I like best about Nhon Hoa is the extremely local aspect of it. It’s like a small little shop(right next to Flirt cupcakes) with very basic seating capacity and extremely affordable food($ 3.50 for a sub!). Perfect for an afternoon walk-by on Whyte or a catch up on what’s happening in the Vue weekly with your lunch. The cold cut combo sandwich is one that I’ve really started liking. Although Vietnamese subs are a «western» concept, in that they’re found mainly in places with immigrant Vietnamese populations; the sub sticks true to the roots of the very minimalist kind, we now expect of of Vietnamese food. The sandwiches are served on a long and thin sub,(looks like a real submarine, actually!) with cilantro, jalapeño and some very basic dressing. I like that the main flavors associated with a particular sub lie strictly with the basic ingredients and not some fancy sauce overpowering the flavors. Must try — must want. Good stuff, at affordable rates. Feels almost like you’re making up something at home and lacks the grease and heaviness that has become a norm of fast food.
