I’ve eaten phở there numerous times and it is a very nice restaurant. Nice décor, good service, good phở . The quality of meat they use for their phở is a step above the brisket you get at most other places.

Five stars for sure for the food because the first thing that I did when I got to work today was eat my Doans lunch leftovers for breakfast. So good! I love the Old Strathcona Doan’s location for lunch meetings(and for any time) as it’s always busy but not so busy that there’s a wait for a table. It’s a large restaurant with tons of seating that’s great for business meetings, friendly catch ups, family outings and more. The staff are always super friendly and very fast. The food comes out very fast as well, which again is great for lunch meetings. It seems like everyone loves the spring rolls and you can’t ever go wrong with the green onion cakes(an Edmonton staple), but I always go straight to the mains and more specifically, to Egg noodles(crispy!) with chicken and house sauce. There’s something magical about those egg noodles. They’re amazing crispy and they soften up in the amazing house sauce. Throw a little of the spicy sauce on it that’s conveniently on the table and you’re in for a treat!

Was pleasantly surprised on how much our server knew about which options were gluten free and even recommended her favorite from that list. She was super helpful and the meal was awesome! I wasn’t sure what to expect when I walked in but I know that I’ll be back!

I only eat one thing here: Curry chicken soup! It’s so delicious that I don’t want to try anything else :)

Came here for lunch today. Wasn’t too busy so we got a table right away. Had the spring rolls, which were over done, a iced coffee(amazing) and lemon grass shrimp which was pretty good. More service could have been better, never got a refill for my regular coffee, which wasn’t very good. Water was warm and tap.

The salad rolls here are second to none. The folks that work there are probably sick of my coworkers and I coming in for take out every week!

I have come here a couple times. The service to be seated is a bit slow. After being seated, our orders were taken quickly. We shared a large order of salad rolls, I asked for no pork in mine, when our server brought the appetizer out, they had split them for us-that was thoughtful. Our dishes were cleared quickly. Our main entrée’s came, I ordered wor wonton soup and partner ordered vietnamese sweet and sour soup. Both dishes were hot, the vegetables crisp and fresh. Overall the food was perfect, the meat in the soup tastes fresh as well, sometimes the chicken at other restaurants can have an off taste, but that was not the case here. The bathrooms was clean, could use an more modern appearance but clean non the less. The décor was nice and ambience was relaxing, strangely enough families were seated all around us and the children were quite well behaved. Try it out, the dinning experience was good.

There are places that you stop into for some fast phở, and then get back on the road of life, Doan’s is not that place. Ya, they have phantastic phở, but what they really have is a ton of space and great staff. For me, this is where my whole fam-jam packs in for a 2 hour dinner; cousins, aunts, reluctant uncle, my willing to eat ANYTHING Dad right beside my «I better not, it could be spicy» Mom… Yup, Doan’s is a perfect dinner spot for a super hungry, super big family get-together. Oh and the green onion cakes are aaaa-mazing!

Fresh, generous lunch of shrimp, beef, pork, vegetables with vermicelli. Quick service, cool décor, clean bathrooms. All at a really decent price. This place just makes me happy, and it’s everything I appreciate in a restaurant. I’ll definitely be back!

For the first time ever I walked out of a restaurant. Four of us met for lunch on the patio. We arrived at 11:45am and ordered by noon. One hour later we hadn’t received any of our food, and no one from the restaurant had come to our table to tell us what was going on. Same issue with everyone else on the patio. Absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced at any restaurant.

Tried Doan’s for the first time today for lunch. It was okay. Would have given them a 3.5 stars if I could give them a half. Took a bit to be seated, and for someone to come take our order. The staff seem nice enough, although could have done without being told we ordered a lot of food. Here’s what we got; a half order(3) of spring rolls, half order(3) of salad rolls, a cup of wonton soup each, Shanghai noodles, and some chicken curry noodles. The food came pretty quick and it was pretty good. The salad rolls with the peanut sauce were delicious. Bill came to just under $ 60. So over all 3.5, and we’ll probably go back.

We were quickly seated for lunch in the 1980’s dining area. The seating area is quite outdated and certainly not fancy. We started with the spring rolls which had pork(?) so I did not try but both of the other diners enjoyed. I had the Lemongrass Mixed Vegetables(Spicy) — Bún Ci Xào Xã t. It was tasty but defnitely needed more vegetables. The other diners had Lemongrass Beef with Vermicelli and Special Fried Rice with Baby Shrimp, Chicken, Peas & Egg. The rice was loaded with egg and other ingredients. A nice lunch stop.

Went to Doans last night with a group of 20. Usually this is a recipe for disaster at most restaurants, but I feel like the whole event was a smashing success. I ordered applies for the whole group. The deep fried squid was awesome, nice big chunks of squid. The salad rolls and spring rolls were awesome. I sadly did not try the green onion cake, but it looked good. For dinner everyone got their own dish, which in hindsight was probably a mistake because the portions are massive. I don’t think a single person didn’t get something packed up to go on our way out. We had a bunch of servers throughout the night assisting the main waiter and they were all very helpful(never saying ‘let me get your waiter’). At the end of the night I decided to pay the entire bill for the whole group thinking it would be about $ 1000 for 20 people including all the applies, liquor, beer and food. I was astonished when the waiter subtly gave me the bill and said that it already included the tip for $ 650. Pretty amazing time and very fairly priced for the crowd we had out, I highly recommend this place if you wanna hit the town with a larger group.

Definitely a four star kind of place! The food was excellent, well-priced, tastes authentic, and the service was friendly and kind. We felt very welcome here and the group was well-taken care of. We thank Doan’s for the excellent service.

Used to live close by. Went dozens of times. Fresh food. Healthy choices. Fast service. Friendly. Clean. Not fancy. Definitely four stars for that kind of restaurant. Sweet and salty tofu and rice rolls were yummy standbys!

For quick and convenient phở, I come here for to eat. I don’t find the dishes extraordinary tasty. The food has non-authentic flavours and it basically can past for fast food quality. But I do enjoy the shredded green papaya salad. It’s refreshing and tastes great! It’s a huge restaurant so you don’t have to worry about waiting for a seat. There’s always a lot of customers here no matter the time of day. The male servers are friendly and attentive to pretty girl customers. Refilling your water and checking up on you several times more than often. No matter what you order, it comes quick and it’s borderline satisfying if you’re jut looking for some good«Vietnamese» food on White Ave. They are great at marketing but the price of the food here is high. A couple of my friends work here so I get a treat each time they are working so it’s a nice surprise each time!

I was intrigued to try Doan’s after the reviews here on the site. The restaurant was bigger than expected, and actually much busier than I expected. We went in at around 2PM on a Monday and there must have been a half dozen other tables ordering as well. The service was OK, if a bit hectic. There were two girls kind of tag-teaming our table. One sat us, another took our orders, then the first brought us our food. They also didn’t come back to check how our food was. My beef and broccoli was pretty good, but could have been more flavourful. My fiancé’s meal was much tastier than mine.(What? I had to grab a few bites of his in order to bring you guys the very best review I could!) I’ll definitely his chicken-veggie-rice whatever combo if we come back here. The food wasn’t overly expensive, but it wasn’t amazing, either. Nothing left a bad taste in my mouth, but the overall experience was kind of meh.

I LOVE Doan’s. I have tried many different Vietnamese places around town and have to say that Doans has the BEST tasting food. From rice noodle bowls to appy’s to deserts to coffee and milkshakes. You don’t have to wait long for a table and are always served right away. The food also comes usually within 10 – 15 minutes. The prices are very good aswell for how much food you get. Keep up the good work Doan’s!
