Having decided to finally spoil myself on a quality sound system, I checked Gramophone out based on the recommendation of a trusted friend. I found them friendly and interested in what I was looking for. I am no audiophile and they helped me pick out equipment that made sense for my situation. They ended up recommending a piece that was significantly upgraded. They needed to make some room. I got a far better sound system than I feel I could have afforded. Since then, I have added a couple of things. For me, it is nice to know they understand value and where to invest the budget to give the most for the dollar. I still have a few components I am interested, but now I am enjoying that it is not as intimidating because there is a plan in place.

This is one of those stores that I really wish I would shop at more often but I never do. I think it’s the location. I just seem to forget about it when I’m around Whyte Ave. I’m into jazz music a lot but I’m picky about my classical music so this is a great place to ask questions and learn a thing or too as well. The staff knows their stuff, as they should. In any event this place has a ton of stock for fans of both those genre’s so it’s easy to just browse around and find something you like. Never even checked out their stereo side of the store but it’s friggn’ loaded!!!

Best place in the city for high-end stereo! Great selection for those who want aesthetics AND sublime sound quality! Some brands they carry are TEAC, NAD, Geneva. If you are looking for awesome iPod stereo, the Gramophone staff is very helpful. We came here to find a power amp. Music CDs and records are on the steep side on price, but you sure cannot beat the selection on jazz and classical music.

This store gets around. We’ve followed them from Rice Howard Way to 109 St to their new spot tucked behind Planet Organic(79 ave &104 st). They are worth tracking down if you are an audiophile. Astounding selection of jazz, blues & classical music and high end home sound systems. They claim to have the largest collection of jazz and blues recordings. I think it’s an accurate assessment. Staff are quick to check if you need help, but give you plenty of space to peruse at your leisure. We always go home with more than we came for and a new discovery. There is so much music to explore. Support your local music store and the artists that created it. Visit the Gramophone and go on a musical adventure.
