Such a good place downtown for some Phở loving! Compared to other Chinatown phở places, Phở Hao has more space and better parking(ain’t nobody want to walk around the streets in that part of town). Staff are always very attentive and quick to help. They’ve got a fairly big menu, consisting of all your Vietnamese food faves(salad rolls, vermicelli bowls, phở, you name it). One of the things I really like here is that they have such a wide selection of phở combinations. I’m a tripe and tendon hater, so it’s nice to be able to cater to what meats I like best. Try the flank, it’s so tender and delicious! In terms of broth, it’s very lightly flavoured here, making for the perfect base to add your sauces to.

This is one of the brightest phở restaurants in Edmonton. Their walls are painted a bright sunny yellow and with all the windows, makes it a bright and happy looking place. Thankfully, their food and service also seem to be on par. I ordered a bowl of phở tai which came loaded with lots of slices of beef– too much I dare say! Their broth was pretty good. I was happy with this dish. My boyfriend ordered a vermicelli bowl with pork which had great flavours. Oh, I almost forgot, we started with an order of spring rolls which were crispy and tasty! Overall, a solid place to go in Chinatown if you’re having a Phở craving. Their service is pretty good, and even friendly from one of the male staff members =)

It’s spacious. And clean, which can be a challenge given the area. I found the staff very polite. The waiter even had a constant smile which strangely felt out of the ordinary. The menu was marked up with a ton cross outs. Large phở sets you back about 9 $. They do the Vietnamese sub thing as well. They certainly looked delicious from the table next to us. The phở was ok. It wasn’t a must eat. It wasn’t terrible. The broth was on the bland side. Noodles were ok, but felt a little rubbery. Meat was good. Loved the flank and fatty flank combo. Was ok, but searching for something better.

Like all Phở Hoa’s, they all seem to be the same. I ordered the #15 phở with all the stuff in it and salad rolls. I still think that the Vancouver ones have a better soup broth but this is still decent. And for $ 5, 3 mini salad rolls is a good price. To be honest, walking up from 101 Street NW was an eye opener! I think coming on 97 Street NW would have been a better route from downtown. The staff were very friendly. It wasn’t busy at all so what else were they to do? This place isn’t overly fancy so maybe do your first date elsewhere. It was clean enough. I would suggest that they get proper soap dispensers in the washroom. I mean putting liquid soap in empty hot sauce bottles work… but come on?!? Go to Dollarama and spend the buck on a better bottle.
