Was in on a Sunday night to get a prescription item. I actually have an account there as I am a medical professional. I also have accounts at London Drugs and Shoppers Drug Mart. Sadly, man, did I ever walk in on the wrong night. Pharmacist was busy talking/chatting with two«customers», I guess, who were obviously also personal friends of his or appeared to be so. I stood patiently at the prescriptions drop off area for 3 minutes, just waiting to be politely acknowledged. Not to be served immediately — they were there before me, and the pharmacist was busy counting pills(while he was carrying on a personal conversation with his friends). I get that. I just wanted to be acknowledged — «hi, sir, I will be with you in a minute»…something like that. The guy did not even look at me… was too busy laughing and BS’ing with his friends. I move around to kill some time, looking at other items, then return to the counter. Pharmacist(who incidentally, was an older guy, not a twenty-something) still talking, BS’ing, talking about his personal experiences as a surgical patient, nothing to do with his job, still did not acknowledge my presence. It took a lot of restraint on my part not to lob a pack of Nicorette gum at his head, just to break him out of his socializing bullsh*t and get his attention. By now 5 minutes had elapsed and he still showed no interest in serving me and did not even acknowledge me. So — I walked out. Don’t think I will be running any of my office prescriptions through there, won’t be referring anyone there and Rexall can try to build their brand thru flyers. It will be a long time before I bother to buy anything there again when they hire inattentive personnel like the old pharmacist. What an idiot! He’s representing the Rexall brand and destroying it one customer at a time.

Rexall carries similar products to other pharmacies and the regular prices are comparable. I did seem to find more items on sale and the some of the vitamins were 40% off so that is a great deal. I browsed the aisles and noted there was good selection for nail polish, and vitamins! There’s also a seasonal section with lots of sales on their summer items. I asked a pharmacist for assistance and was impressed that she went with me to help find the product and answered my question. The check out was quick and the service was friendly and efficient. You can earn Aeroplan points here too! There is a Medicentre towards the back and left of the store by the cosmetics. At 9:30AM on a weekday, there were at least 10 people waiting so I’m sure it’s a busy location. But it’s convenient with the pharmacy a few steps away. There’s also public washrooms by the pharmacy which is convenient too. Lots of parking spots in the lot and good location. Will be back next time I need toothpaste!

I stopped into the newest location of the Rexall Pharmacy empire. I was curious as to how it would compare to Shopper’s Drug Mart and London Drugs, my two west end drugstore standbys. The store was quite large and bright, with a good selection of health and beauty supplies. The pharmacy area is quite large, while the small food section almost seemed out of place. It lacked the quirky selection of London Drugs and the product density of Shopper’s Drug Mart. Still, I was able to find everything I was looking for, with a few surprised. I don’t think I would go out of my way to shop here, but I would not avoid it either. I am guessing it gets a lot of business from the Medicentre that just opened next door.
