Wow! The food and service is amazing! I ate the bison steak and it was delicious. I think they constantly change the menu so you may or may not see the same thing twice. This is all the more reason to eat here again to try other wonderful dishes. The resturaunt itself is kinda off the beaten path, if you blink you’ll miss it. The inside is a little small which gives it charm and exclusivity. I look forward to eating here again! It is more of a business casual but jeans and a golf shirt will do.

I have been to RGERD twice and they were two of the best meals of my life!!! First time was for the set Valentine’s Day menu and it was to die for, there were two options so we got one of each and every single dish(would have been 8 altogether if I remember correctly) was amazing! We went back for my birthday and had the chefs tasting menu with wine pairing, and again everything was completely to die for. Like orgasming tastebuds type of goodness, seriously. Can’t wait to go back!

I was taken here for my birthday recently and was very impressed. We did not have a reservation(although we did try earlier in the day but no one got back to us), we showed up around 7pm on a Monday and they were able to seat us immediately(table for two). Great cocktails. Service was a little slow at first, but was still very good. The starters are a little overpriced in my opinion and I would skip them next time around. The entrees however were generous and delicious and well worth the price tag. Lovely décor and atmosphere and I would definitely go back.

RGE Rd has been a bucket list visit spot for a long time. Finally managed to plan a visit and was not disappointed. Décor was relaxing and fun. Service was terrific and the staff were fun and engaging. Menu was well laid out and offered a good variety for all palates. Being adventurous I tried the«Questionable bits» and was very satisfied with my perfectly cooked heart. The bison was superb and perfectly cooked. To my mind I don’t need to be asked how I like my steak, the chef should be able to look at the meat and choose the perfect doneness. And they did. The chick pea dish was wonderful and the pierogies were in a fabulous sauce. I dared to try the blue cheese crème brûlée and while I am very open to taste combinations, it wasn’t my favourite combo. The saltiness of the blue cheese was a little over powering of the sweetness of the brûlée crust. A fun adventure but a miss for me. Not a cheap night out but worth the experience.

I went here for my birthday last month and I am still dreaming about my meal. For appetizers we got the perogies… which, while definitely expensive for perogies, were the best ones I’ve ever had in my life. It’s not the perogies themselves that are out of this world, but the sauce they’re in. That sauce is perhaps the greatest thing I’ve ever eaten. We also got some sort of butternut squash bread pudding I believe(it’s not on their online menu so I can’t definitively confirm what was on it) and it was also absolutely amazing. Interestingly, I never wanted to go to Rge Rd and didn’t think I would like it. I’m not necessarily a picky eater but I’m also not super into ‘strange’ foods. But both of those appetizers were fairly normal and heavenly.(and would give me the confidence to try some of their more out-there items). For a main, I had their special that day, which was arctic char on a bed of some sort of beans/legumes/mushrooms and it was OUTOFTHISWORLD. Literally one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. The only miss was the dessert. I got the S’more because I LOVE S’mores, usually. But a huge miss. The chocolate brownie was too cakey, there wasn’t enough marshmallow, and the ‘graham’ was a swirl of thin decorating crisp. It was impossible to eat all 3 components in a single bite and overall none of them tasted great on their own. Anyways, would I be back? Yes!

Everything about this place is professional but approachable. The atmosphere is cozy but not cramped, the service is friendly and attentive without being over bearing and the food is sophisticated and experimental without being intimidating. A place you could go back to often, the food will change but the staff will welcome you like an old friend. Can’t wait to come back and see what other delicious dishes the chef has created.

It probably seems like I say this every other review but RGERD has been on my list to try for the past year. Yikes. That’s what happens when you wait for friends that say they want to go but nothing pans out. Well, a special occasion popped up so I figured it was the perfect time/excuse to try them out. Reservations are recommended, especially if you want a Friday or Saturday prime spot, as the only availability for us last minute on a Monday night was at 8:00pm! What the f. We took it anyways. There’s no visible signage from the outside but just look for the lime green building packed with cars. The inside is very cozy with a rustic, cabin type feel to it. You definitely feel at ease the moment you walk in the door. Clearly, a lot of thought and care was put into the décor. Heck, it’s all in the small details. My parents asked for hot water and lemon(it’s an Asian thing) and they were brought Le Creuset cups(faaaaancy). They even thoughtfully left a pot for them to refill at their leisure. The plates come out slightly warm(ahhh just the best). Clearly, RGERD know how to please. There was only one waitress and expo running the front of the house but both were fantastic. Very friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. Service is top notch. We had some time to peruse the menu(which breaks down into starters, share-ables and entrees) and I was happy to see they have a bit more selections than what you can find on their website. I wanted to get the questionable bits(foie gras pâté) but it was a bit too similar to what they were offering on the kitchen board so we skipped it. Same with the wild stew, which consisted of the same meats that we were ordering for our main entrees. I couldn’t convince the parents to try the perogies($ 14 for 4 perogies will not fly in Asian culture) but I will have to come back and get it next time. — Chick peas & charred cauliflower($ 15.00) — chick pea purée, kale and onion liqueur. Think a refined, fancy take on hummus with the addition of cauliflower and chick peas. I actually really digged the chick peas, which I’m normally not a fan of on it’s own. Raw, light and healthy. — Kitchen board($ 26.00) — kitchen’s selection of meat and cheese. This changes daily but for us, our board consisted of a spicy Hungarian sausage, goose rillettes and two beef sliders with pickled red peppers and onions, pecorino romano, butter crackers and bread. The Hungarian sausage was easily the best thing on the board. The spicy grainy mustard was bomb. Beef sliders were moist but wish they gave us three so that we each could have had one. The goose rillette was okay but didn’t leave much of an impression on me. The butter crackers were crazy good! Think my mom put it best — tastes like a cracker version of a croissant. You can easily eat it on it’s own. — Four whistle farms goose breast($ 32.00) — amaranth and squash«polenta», roasted apple and crispy kale. The goose breast was essentially like duck. My dad thought it could have passed as steak, that’s how tender and delicious it was. The polenta had a great texture to it without feeling heavy. The kicker was the amaranth(read: super healthy Aztec grain) which gave the mixture a «grainy» bite to it. The kale was also nicely done, we wanted more! — Pilatus farms bison($ 32.00) — hazelnut spätzle, grainy mustard, charred carrots and currants. Mmmmm spätzle is actually so good. Egg noodles German style. Black currants added a bit of sweetness to the dish. The bison itself didn’t taste gamey but it was perfectly cooked medium rare. — West coast sablefish($ 32.00) — tomato, sunchoke, leek, turnip and arugula. What can I say other than the fish was divine. So tender and flaky, this was easily my mom’s favourite dish. The polenta was great. So nice to have all these different types of grains that we don’t normally eat or cook at home. We enjoyed everything we ordered. All the food is skillfully prepared. There’s a reason why RGERD has been voted as one of the best places in Edmonton. Now I just need to try the RGERD trip($ 79.00 for six course tasting menu) during my next visit. The perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or to impress a date. It’s a must try if you’re a fine dining enthusiast.

I love that the food is locally sourced! We had the«questionable bits» to start. I can’t actually remember what kind of bits it was but it was topped with onion crisps of some sort and served with homemade chips. Very good and probably the highlight of the meal! We had the Pilatus Farms Bison and Nature’s Green Acres Pig Roast as our main. Presentation was beautiful. Quality of meat was good but nothing really wowed me. I guess I maybe set my expectations too high. I would still recommend this place though and would like to go again and try something different. Maybe more of the smaller plates with a few drinks. Cool atmosphere.

Great atmosphere, very knowledgable staff. The perogies I had were the best I’ve ever had! Like amazing and I’m not a perogie person. I also had the steak and mashed potatoes which came with a shredded ox tail in a sauce. At first I was a little stand off ish but I always try everything once. And it was killer !!! I would have thought it was beef if they didn’t tell me.

RGERD did not disappoint! After hearing about it for so long I finally made it in with a girlfriend of mine. While I didn’t have an entrée, the 3 appetizers I had were incredible and I would go back for just those. I had the perogies, mussels and asparagus salad(this was my favorite). Everything was so fresh and all of the flavours in each dish complimented each other well. I can’t wait to go back.

I have been wanting to come here for some time now. It was worth the wait! I came here earlier this week for Christmas celebrations with a friend. First off the ambiance is wonderful. The woodwork and dim lighting create a lovely relaxing environment and go well with the theme of serving locally farmed produce. We ordered the Kitchen Board to start and share. The meat and cheeses selected by the chef for this board change regularly. We were not sure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. The pork and beans were delicious, loaded with flavour — a sweet and spicy melody. The beef terrine was also delicious and went very well with the in house made butter crackers. The roast beef slices were melt in your mouth and the cheese was also tasty and the small pickles were a wonderful added touch. Yum! We both then had the Pork as our main dish. It contained pork belly, pork chop, and pork confit. The pork belly was so delicious! The savory salty fat melted in my mouth. The pork chop(at least that is what I think it was) was good but my least favourite as it wasn’t as tender and probably a little more earthy tasting but the confit was perfection. All were cooked well. The grilled red cabbage that accompanied the meat was just as delicious as well as the lightly dressed greens. I would have liked to have had more of these tasty veggies since there weren’t any starches or other vegetables on the plate. This would be my only complaint. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food, service and ambiance were delightful!

Rge Rd was a huge let down. After waiting for weeks for my reservation I was astonished at the bland nature of the food and service. My party ordered the chefs tasting menu and were looking forward to a culinary adventure of local food. Each course bringing it’s own unique flaw. The first course was a trout and red snapper fish sandwich served open face and cold with cucumber and beets. It reminded me of the tuna fish sandwiches I would eat at school growing up. Not very flavourful and oddly cold. The second course was also red snapper. It was a snapper and tomato soup with crab meat in am lobster broth. Where the lobster went that made the broth I will never know. The soup needed seasoning. The broth was flavorless and the tomatoes tasted unseasoned. The snapper was really good but the dish left a LOT to be desired. The third course was a goose bread pudding. This dish was surpringly good. It had a texture like a quiche and the flavour was good. After that we had the 4th course, a gnocchi with poached egg. The gnocchi was luke warm at best; it tasted like it had been left cooling on a counter for a while before being served and then was served without seasoning… but that’s not the worst part. The worst part was the egg. How you can screw up a poached egg I never knew until now. The egg was ice cold. Ice ice cold. Somehow they kept the yolk runny but it was unnerving and we could not find the server to ask about it. Weird weird weird. The 5th course was a leg of elk. This course was weird because everyone at the table had elk cooked differently. My elk was blue rare(uncooked center and cold inside). Another person in our party was served elk like shoe leather… well well done. After we traded plates to suit close to our likings we Dove in to find that the elk had 0 seasoning or flavour added to it. It was served with pureed broccoli which may have been the second best part of the meal next to the goose bread pudding. For desert they served chocolate brownies that were so hard you could barely cut them and lacked flavour and then a custard based maple syrup dish. Our server was terrible, the food was worse and when I told the server my concerns he said«I’ll let the chef know» and scurried off. There was no apologies and thanks, no comments from the kitchen. I will sadly not go back to RGERD because it’s not worth the time, money, wait or babysitting.

Every time I got in the elevator at my condo I would see a list of top 3 restaurant in Edmonton and Rge Rd was always on the list. I finally decided to try it out one Saturday night with a friend. I called to make a reservation but they were booked til 10. I was informed that bar seating was first come first serve so I decided to take a chance. I showed up and luckily we got seated at the bar. The outside of the building is super misleading– it looks like a big green cube. Inside feels like you walked into restoration hardware! Distressed wood, string bulb lighting, fur hide decorated chairs. It was extremely cozy at the bar and the bartender with very passionate and knowledgable about the items on the menu. FYI– they serve grizzly paw beer! The perogies were great! Served in a warm cream sauce. Make sure you get the large portion as it is only 4 perogies. The wil bison sausage dish had an amazing combination of flavours– Saskatoon, beets, chipotle aoili. Last but not least… Dessert… A pumpkin torte. So delicious– homemade cookie crust. Rge Rd definitely exceeded my expectations and I can’t wait to go back.

I want to update this review to give it 6 stars. 5 just isn’t enough! You know when you go to a place, and you LOVE it, and you really look forward to going back? You have those high expectations. And then, when it happens, when you finally go back… you end up disappointed? Well that ain’t happening here! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Rge Rd. Still love it. And the BF said he liked our second visit better than the first. I loved them both equally. For our second visit, I had the arctic char special, and the BF had a steak. We also shared the kitchen board. And for dessert, we forced down the pumpkin chèvre tart. Honestly, it was all amazing. And the portion sizes were generous. This is not one of those«weird» places where the entrees look like appetizers. Everything is amazing. The ambience, the décor, the staff, and most importantly, the food. I assure you, I will not wait another year to go back. No way! Spoil yourself… go to Rge Rd.

Winner winner chicken dinner! So glad that Edmonton has another restaurant that meets top notch standards in ambience, service and food. We ordered a few items to share between three people. This included the perogies, charcuterie board(this is massive!), pork loin, beef steak, bison steak, marshmallow dessert and berries dessert. With a bottle of wine, it came to about $ 220 but we were completely stuffed and had leftovers! The server was very friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. He was also very helpful with the wine. The ambience is rustic, even their tables are custom made. However the exterior is quite underwhelming(it’s easy to miss). The food was great, not a single complaint from my end. So happy I got to come here and had a great experience. Farm to table is a difficult concept to achieve but they did a fantastic job of following through. I’ll be back!

Simply put — I love this place! The rustic décor, intimate dining experience, and farm to table food is right up our alley(we’re farmers). The hubby and I usually come here to celebrate something special, which we did for our 2nd anniversary on Aug 3rd and it did not dissapoint and never has! I had looked at online booking and was unable to find a time slot we wanted, so I called late in the afternoon and was quickly helped by the hostess who was able to book us in for when we needed. We shared a large order of the perogies to start, which comes with 4 dumplings, and literally demolished the entire plate in 5 mins! Hubby enjoyed them so much, he said he wished he had a double order to himself lol I loved them so much, I started wondering if Edmonton even has a perogy restaurant lol I think it did, but unfortunately burned down years ago. I was at battle with myself whether to have the duck or the beef cause I always order the duck where ever I go, but I’m telling you guys, there’s something about their beef dish that I can never say no to and neither can the hubby. It’s a tried and true dish and makes my eyes roll to the back or my head kind-of good! Sirloin was cooked perfectly med rare and served on top of smooth mashed potatoes with the most delectable piece of brocolette. So good that I would consider becoming vegan if only I knew how to cook it they way they do. But wait. That’s not all. It also comes with a side of stew that you must, and I mean must, pour over your entire plate and let the gravy from the stew do it’s magic! This is the ultimate comfort food and I never leave anything left on the plate. I would lick it if I could! For dessert we shared the apple shortbread and smores and both were also devoured within minutes! The apple shortbread was reminiscent of an apple pie that made love to a cheesecake and somehow made an apple shortbread baby. So yummy! The smores came out deconstructed and topped off with an amazing, fluffy homemade marshmallow that left me wanting a whole bag to take home. It was like eating a cloud of pure bliss! If you haven’t been here yet, please make it your next place to go. You won’t be sorry!

We were told by a few coworkers that this place was a new and upcoming spot. They went as far as to say that they are serving some of the best food in Edmonton. That is quite the expectation to live up to, bu they did. Our meal was amazing. We first had a hard time finding the place as they were currently doing construction on the front of the building. Once we did, we parked easily out from on a week night. Walking in, the entrance was draped with a curtain. We were greeted and we chose to sit at the bar. The place is quite intimate and would be a great date night spot. It is quite a small place, seats 40 or so, and another 5 at the bar. Once seated, we ordered a few beers while reviewing the menu. Our bartender was quite nice and she provided great service and conversation. After explaining the menu, we decided on the duck and the pork 3 ways. The place was not terribly busy, but had a few tables seated. The food came out promptly and looked great. I had the pork and my coworker had the duck. The pork was presented 3 ways; loin, bacon wrapped confit, and pork belly. It was served with mushroom gnocchi, spinach, and shredded mushrooms. All of the flavors were presented nicely and were well balanced. I was given a taste of the duck and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. They really nailed the food, flawless. After leaving, we both agreed we had an outstanding meal, and possibly some of the best food on this trip. I can see this being a great spot to take a date. Make sure you make reservations for the weekends as they stated they were booked for 5 weeks out. I can understand why.

Was so very disappointed with the experience we received after reading all the reviews. Our server was not personable at all and never introduced herself. She was very short with us and carried an «I don’t care attitude». She seemed visibly upset when we did not order an appetizer and asked us twice more if we were sure we did not want one. The bison tasted great and was cooked perfectly, the spatzle was nice! The pheasant on the other hand was very over cooked and dry. The only time the sever checked in on us was when we received our meals to ask how they were, but she didn’t stick around to hear our response as she quickly pulled a 180 and walked away. UPDATE: returned to RGERD due to the fact a friend was having a birthday. What a 180* turn around with service. Right away Darren was very informative and took time to explain the menu.

My wife and I took her parents here because they needed to experience the flavour punch in the face that RGERD provides… and yes… they delivered once again! The staff here are so F-ING awesome. They treat you like family and enjoy serving you. They wander around, chat with everyone and make recommendations on food and wine that are not sales pitches. Its a fantastic atmosphere. When you go here you have to order the Kitchen Board. It’s always a treat of meats and cheeses and whatever they throw at you. There food is always amazing. It’s not surprising that they were named one of the top 10 restaurants to visit in Canada. While I can’t remember what I actually ate this time around, no matter because my stomach and eyes will never have a bad moment at this place. And neither will you. So be sure to bring money and an appetite.
