Roots – Whyte Ave.

Roots offers a nice selection of clothing, accessories, and leather goods. This shop is small but well-​stocked and I’ve found the place to be very clean and organized.
I frequently shop on Whyte ave and I end up stopping here once in a while. I love the style (s) of clothing they carry, everything looks so comfortable and awesome! The prices are typically a bit high for me, but the occasional sales make these items affordable. That being said, I have unfortunately only purchased a total of two items at this store. Roots just happens to be one of those places where the fitted/​female items, the tops in particular, tend to fit me «funny,» with some strange combination of too loose or too tight across different areas of the garment. As I love the style here, I hope to find items in the future which don’t possess this issue.
During my most recent visit I picked up a pair of sweatpants after trying on a whole bunch of different clothing items. The staff were attentive during my entire visit; they were quick to move my selected items into a fitting room and checked in regularly as I was trying things on. It seemed like their training was very good. The unfortunate downside of this is that I also found staff to be a bit overzealous with their compliments — I was asking for my husband’s opinion, yet with every piece I tried on I got to hear about how cute it was on me and what a great item it is. As I said … staff clearly had a lot of training. I dislike experiencing this kind of insincerity/​pushiness when shopping and it almost put me off of purchasing. Fortunately for them I really liked the sweatpants.
I hope to be able to grab some more of their awesome clothing in the future, as I really do like their style. I just hope staff are a little less smarmy next time!

A smaller location of Roots focusing on leather goods and accessories. There is a decent amount of shirts, hats, etc. here as well.

This new Roots store concentrates on what Roots does best — leather goods. It features the best selection of Roots bags and shoes in the city. I was looking for a particular bag in a specific colour which they did not have in stock because it has just been announced. They took down my name and in two days I got a call saying the bag was in. Nice to have that kind of service.
