A group of 4 of us were at the location on Saturday night and the waitress was the best waitress I have ever had the pleasure of being served by. The good news is that the food was equally as impressive. The pizza bread is the best I have ever tasted. I will be going back again and again!!! Cudos to the waitress

2nd time trying since new change of ownership. The place has become another low end bar in that area that no longer serves even decent food. What a shame… Don’t look at the online menu they show, as most of it is gone. as well as the idea that the owner greets each table… A load of crap!!! Just got back from there and will not go back. Food was out of a box and terrible, at best. I have a Groupon left to use, and may take some buddies for beers, but will not eat there again… As bad as any place can get for food… Pass it by peeps, it is really bad…

I bought a Groupon for Santo’s and was pleasantly surprised. It is not an upscale venue but the food was fantastic! I went with a group of 4 and all enjoyed the: pollo sandwich, pizza, chicken parmigiana and veggie lasagna. Great food, great prices, great service.

I used to go to Santo’s whenever I wanted a more ‘real’ Italian meal outside of my family members houses. I loved the atmosphere before. While I hate these types of stereotypes, it really did remind me of a place that would be in the Sopranos. No fuss or pretense, the gambling area on the other side of the building with VLTs and horse races on TV, people speaking Italian and playing Napoletane, an Italian card game, and really quite good Italian food. Some of their sauces even reminded me of my Nonna’s(although of course not that excellent!). Santo’s recently changed hands and got a major renovation on the inside. When I stepped in there today I felt a little disoriented — it’s so different! It used to be so plain, yet charming, before, and it is definitely more modern and fresh now. The menu still has a lot of the same things on it, like the pastas and most of the sandwiches, and some of the pizzas, and some different things, like steak and some new pizzas. Unfortunately, I think Santo took his pizza recipe with him. I still thought it was good, but it is definitely not as good or authentic as before. The meatball sandwich I had was fantastic. That sauce — yum. Another down point is that they used to have the standard oil and vinegar dressing on the salad(my fav), and now I’m pretty sure it’s from a bottle. The prices are very reasonable. Sanwiches are about $ 10 and come with a side. Pastas are $ 9-$ 14, pizzas are $ 12-$ 14. The service was weird but good in the past, but our waitress tonight was great. Super friendly and great personality. I was surprised and pleased when the new owner came over to ask us how everything was going and to chat for a minute. He mentioned that they’re also going to be redoing the outside of the building, which I think will be a nice boost for the area.

The restaurant is under new ownership and recently went through a huge transformation, with renovations completely changing the look and feel of the place. It is a lot cleaner, brighter, and spacious. The menu is similar to before, with a few new additions, excellent specials, and an all-day breakfast. The bar has also improved, with way more beers on tap. Staff is friendly and overall, I can see Santo’s as becoming a hot spot in the inner city to hang out and have a great meal.

The restaurant part of Santos has less than 10 tables of 4 so it can get pretty busy. I arrived before noon so had a choice of which table to sit at. There are a couple of tvs and in the lounge part it looked like they had offtrack betting for horse racing. The menu includes appetizers, salads, sandwiches and burgers, pasta, and pizza and the prices are quite reasonable. I decided to have the tortellini with a slice of garlic bread and my friend had the veal on a bun with a salad. I liked the pasta sauce and the tortellini was not over/undercooked. The bread was a bit burnt and I prefer it with more garlic. My friend’s salad meal was large and she wasn’t able to finish half of her sandwich. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was good but it gets a little noisy in the restaurant. I noticed a pizza at the other table and it looked good and was a decent size. If I’m in the neighbourhood, I would go back and try the pizza.

If you’re in the mood for Italian comfort food without the candlelight and fuss, Santo’s is a great place to fill your belly and enjoy the buzz of a busy dining room and bar area. There’s a separate room, away from the bar, if you come here with the familia, and Santo himself is usually around and chit-chatting with clientele. I joined a friend of mine for dinner here who knew Santo, and he treated us to wine, scotch and his lovely company after dinner. My friend had sausage-on-a-bun that he loved, and I got the seafood pasta which is so creamy and good I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and came back the next day for a lunch order to go! The prices are reasonable at Santo’s and it’s a great chance to visit Little Italy and take a break from your normal dinnertime fare. Afterwards, head next door to La Dolce Vita for a gelato and walk through Giovanni Caboto Park.
