Glad I finally got around to checking this out. I love the idea of quick Japanese food. Friendly, quick service at a good price. I had the fried noodles with shrimp. I’ll admit… I wasn’t all that fond of the flavor, but I’ll just pick something else next time. I’ve noticed they have bento boxes, miso soup and sashimi, so I’ll give those a try instead. I WAS pretty pleased with the portion size I got for only $ 8.99. I still ate at least half and was satisfied. The shrimp and noodles were perfectly cooked. I’ll be back soon!

Tokyo Express is the Tim Horton’s of Japanese food, bland and unimpressive. The salmon is not fresh. It tastes like it came out of a dirty freezer.

This location of Toyko Express is not that busy which I don’t mind at all. There wasn’t a line up when I arrived and I got my meal very quickly. They have tables and chairs and booths as well. I sat at a booth and enjoyed my chicken rice bowl while reading the paper which they had copies of. I often will ask for less sauce though as the bowl can be drenched in the sticky, sweet sauce. The menu at Toyko Express has really expanded from when they first opened. There are many different types of sushi, noodles dishes, bento boxes, and their original rice bowls. With the menu variety increasing, so have the prices. I remember when the rice bowls were $ 3.99 and now they have almost doubled in price. Sometimes I will get a bento box for just over $ 10 when I’m really hungry but it’s definitely not the best I’ve had. I don’t mind eating at Toyko Express and I would rate it 3 or 4 stars. But for this location I would give 4 stars for the prompt service, seating, and clean washroom.

This is the latest establishment from the popular local Japanese food chain known as Tokyo Express. It is also one of the best I have ever visited. Large and bright with lots of seating, the menu seems to have expanded to include fried noodle dishes(in addition to the popular rice bowls). Our food was served directly to our table — perhaps it was because the place was not all that busy at that time, but it was still a nice touch and one that does not happen too often in fast food-type places. I would recommend the salmon, chicken, or beef rice bowls as they are large and have a lot of substance. I recently tried the sushi here(veggie sushi, as I don’t do raw fish) and it was excellent too. A quick, economical, and healthy choice in the west end.
