I was given a prescription for glasses and contact lenses by DR. CHAMPION. He strongly urged me to buy my daily contacts there, but at twice the price of online retailers I think not. I wore Dr. Champion’s prescription for 2.5 months with headaches, nausea, double vision and loss of concentration. My family doctor said she couldn’t find anything wrong, and to go back to the eye doctor. I did and saw another doctor who deemed that the first prescription was incorrect! It was way too strong and most likely the cause of my headaches. Instead of being ushered out the door, I demanded to talk to the manager, who apologized and promised to take better care and replace my daily contacts with the right prescription at no cost. Except that this did not happen. I was told to come in multiple times to check my eyes, which is fair. Except that the new doctor was rude, accused me of faking the first wrong eye test on purpose. He specifically said«you don’t prefer the old prescription» and I said«I don’t prefer any prescriptions, I just want the right one!» It was clear that this doctor was defensive and wanted to cover up the mistake by Dr. Champion. After many times of taking time off work to get them to «check» my eyes, and promises of reimbursing my contact lenses, it just didn’t happen. The manager finally dropped contacts off at my residence, but they were only for the LEFT eye. Total fail for total focus!

I have been a customer of Total Focus for a few years now. The staff and optometrists are very personable and professional. The store has a comfortable and inviting atmosphere that’s apparent when you walk in. There’s soft couches on the right to lounge on while you wait to be called for your appointment. The staff here were particularly helpful when I decided to try contact lenses earlier this year. I did not take to the contacts immediately. Saying that I was like the slow kid in class would be an understatement. I had trouble putting them in and taking them out. The staffer who helped me through all this had the patience of Mother Theresa and kept encouraging me. After a week I decided that contact lenses were a form of cruel and inhuman punishment and I opted for laser eye surgery instead. The only negative I can think of about this place is the time when I called them to cancel my follow-up appointments for the contact lenses. Whoever answered the phone was some ditzy, valley girl-type. I explained that contacts just weren’t for me so she gave me a sarcastic«okaaaaaay» and hung up. I could picture her rolling her eyes and twirling her hair the whole time. I don’t know who this was as their usual receptionist is very nice.
