A simple little mom and pop place just off the QEW. Friendly and fast service, perfect stop for a quick bite. Nothing fancy but the quality is good. They prepare their sushi rice just right and the salmon was nice. The green tea they served was also great — it actually tasted like macha. That may not be everyone’s «cup of tea» but its certainly mine. :)

Nice little mom and pop sushi place. Portions good although I fancy myself and all you can eat man. Made fresh right in front of my face. Rice could be better flavour wise all and all pretty good for the money. Would recommend.

Customer service very good, quality of food great(except the green tea), and price very decent. The staff was indeed very friendly, as for instance they explained how sashimi is served with darker soy sauce while bringing it over to me. Also, they warned us when we got there just after 8 P.M. that they close at 9, asking if that was OK. They also let me finish up my sashimi when they were supposed to be closed. I liked how there was pricing for everything on the menu(both the one provided to us when sitting us down and the one that stayed on the table with the drinks on it). The quality of the food was great: all the sushi, sashimi, and soups were fresh and very tasty, as well as served at the right temperature. I wasn’t very impressed that there was an extra charge for the green tea as most sushi places I’ve been to serve it complimentary, but it was only $ 2.80 for a pot of tea with two cups(one for my guest and one for myself). The green tea tasted very watered down. It was really the only thing that fell short. I would’ve given them 5 stars if the tea was included considering its quality, or if it was sufficiently steeped and if possible of the higher quality ones that I’ve had in at least one place in Toronto. Price-wise, when I go to a sushi venue, if the price is on a ratio of $ 1 to 1 piece of sushi, I consider it decent. For a $ 14, I got a dinner meal consisting of 20 pieces of sashimi, a miso soup, seaweed salad, and rice. I’ve never seen such a good price for sushi. I would definitely recommend this venue and I’d return to it when I’m in the area based on my experience.

Rating des Ortes: 4 Fort Erie, Canada
I was delighted(if somewhat surprised) to learn that Fort Erie(which is not a big place) has sushi. The decorations are very clearly Japanese, and somewhat classier than the kind of el cheapo bento box joint where I normally got my fix in BC. The menu(or at least the lunch menu) is a *lot* shorter than I’m used to. There were only about a half-dozen choices, plus a couple of specials. I was particularly disappointed by the absence of goma ae, as that is a particular favourite of mine. The tea is good(I think I finished a whole pot by myself.) The sushi lunch comes with five different types of sushi, eight pieces of salmon roll, one gyoza, half a dozen pods of edamame(which I’ve never seen in a bento box before), pickled ginger, and green salad. The salad came with a cream type dressing, rather than the kind of vinaigrette that I’m used to getting.(At first, I was afraid that it was going to be something boring, like thousand island dressing, but it was quite tasty, and not something I’ve encountered before. I’m still trying to figure out what was in it.) To be honest, I’m not really sure whether the food was really awesome enough to elicit the thrill of delight I had upon tasting my first bite, or whether I’ve just been sushi deprived for too long.(Well, certainly the latter is true.) I’ll have to check out the other sushi place in town for comparison.
