A pretty average Café. We’ve been on several occasions. The food is good but overpriced; the service however is hit or miss. Today’s visit it was exceptionally poor, which led me to write a review. Today we ordered a coffee, smoothie, sandwich, and lunch special(½ panini and soup.) Coffee was excellent– freshly brewed, but only came with our order once I reminded them. Smoothie was more like a sugary milkshake. Too sweet for me, but husband likes a good milkshake and devoured it. The sandwich was good but, two slices of bread, chicken bacon and some veggies for $ 13— ridiculous. I got the lunch special. The soup was terrible. It was supposed to be Italian wedding soup but was thick like stew and so salty I couldn’t eat it. My sandwich was sloppily put together, falling apart when it arrived. It was however tasty. I returned the soup and was met with scowls and looks of indifference from the staff. I was offered the other soup option which I didn’t want, so I was offered a salad. It was a pretty snarky exchange — the staff clearly totally overwhelmed by the line of customers and my request. I waited at the counter as I saw them assemble a side salad for me and watched half the staff mosey about unsure what to do with themselves. When the salad was ready it was placed aside. The cashier said she’d bring it out to me and I said it was right there and she just stared at me instead of grabbing it or having one of her coworkers do so. So, I sat down. 15 minutes later the salad came. A haphazard bowl of spinach and slivers of cucumber and tomatoes with olive oil. No vinegar, just oil. So, I didn’t eat it. Overall, the staff are what led me to write this lousy review. Realizing they were short staffed today — not my problem — they do need some training.

Although tucked a little ways off the main drag, Red Velvet Café is truly a gem — great food at reasonable prices, and a great place to study for the day or meet a friend for coffee with their cozy, quiet and spacious atmosphere. Free wifi always helps too.

We came here and totally enjoyed the home cooking, selection of tea is excellent. I had an iced tea that was ginger and lemon and it was popular because it was the last one. The girls in the kitchen were working hard to get the meals prepared and served. They forgot to bring us the warmed milk, but realized the mistake when they brought us the food and brought it straight out. Great little spot that is off the main drag in Fort Langley. It is a popular spot for the cyclists.
