I often find myself in this store when there are foreign guests in town and I need to buy them local gifts to take home as souvenirs(usually overseas corporate clients). Most everything in the store is top notch quality and really evokes the feel of the local culture. The saleslady who worked there was very accommodating and helped me wrap the gifts I’d purchased and I wrote in the greeting cards attached to the packaging right there at the till. I really like stores where you can tell that nothing they carry has been mass produced and most of the artsy pieces are from here and in purchasing there, one supports the local art industry. I especially recommend checking out the locally painted greeting cards. they are really beautiful and unique. The survey question on Unilocal asks whether the store was good for kids. At first I said no because theres so many breakable goods in the store and I can just imagine some four year old running around like a bull in a china shop… but I changed my answer to «not sure» because there is a decent selection of baby and toddler clothes hanging on the back wall.

Great pottery, friendly staff. Picked up a couple of mugs created by an Artisan in PEI. There is a lot to choose from with some affordable options and some a little out of my budget range. All the same, a nice spot to check out every now and again.

This is probably just one of those not-for-me kind of places but I popped in anyway as I was pretending to be Parisien by strolling the Hydrostone with a pastry.(Any excuse to eat pastry… truly) Much like Henhouse, this shop is an eclectic collection of housewares, arts and crafts although the focus is much more on the art than the functionality. That is, whereas other shops will sell you gorgeous things you can use around the home, Bogside is chock full of gorgeous things that are useful only because they are so visually striking. If you need a new focal point in a room, a splash of colour, or you just love hearing, «oh now where did you get THIS?» statements when guests come over, this is your kind of place.

Walking the Hydrostone you will come across some really different and unique spots and here is one of them. Bogside crafters form our region housing there products. Now is this a store for everyone well no but if you are looking for something different and maybe not the norm then check it out you never know what hidden treasure you will find. I love stained glass and from the outside this is what actually drew me into the location. The front window is like a stained glass gallery which is really beautiful when the sun hits it. Yes there are other things in Bogside such as cards, sweaters, slippers. Now if you really want something fancy there is always jewelry or some luxurious scented products. As well something that everyone needs is a wind chimes made out from silver wear neat hey. Oh one thing I forgot to ask is what does Bogside stand for?

How I adore needle felted landscapes. Wispy clouds, melancholy trees, rich crimson flowers, all created with a barbed needle and loose woolly fibres. What else do I love? Thick potted mugs, glazed with teals and browns, finished with curly handles and shapely bodies. And one more thing… the smell of fir trees. Sweet pillow-pouches stuffed with fir needles exuded the heavenly scent of the forest, perfect for palming and sniffing during meditation, or laying by your head at bead time. This place is darling. Ripe with artistic treasures; it is a trove of goodies perfect for a connoisseur of lovingly made creations. I spied baby booties, sweet jewelery, and amazing silver sea inspired bowls. I cradled mugs and delicate organic cotton baby face clothes. I had a lovely perusal of this Hydrostone shop. I urge you to take a jaunt through this impeccably ordered store. You’ll fall head over heels for all of the offerings, and hopefully walk away with a treasure to call your own.

The Bogside Gallery is an extension of Atlantic Canada’s most inspired crafters. A walkthrough entails a spectrum of handmade delicacies and an idea of how limitless the craft world can be. The grand selection of pottery and dishes are just the beginning. From intricate knits to the array of locally made jewelry, it all speaks of time well spent. A felted landscape picture caught my eye, and for a second at a distance, I would’ve passed it off as an oil painting. So vibrant and detailed! Take a look for yourself, its well worth a trip. This assortment of artful treasures are truly something to see.

What a perfectly heavenly place to hang out… especially when it’s freezing and dreary outside. I get lost in time there. Each item draws you in — texture, colour, shape. You will find unique handcrafted purses, jewelery, scarves, sweaters, cosy shearling slippers in every color and every size from tiny baby booties to… well everyone else. My favorite glass dinnerware — I keep hinting but so far I’m still waiting made in Chester is spectacular, as is everything else in the shop. No matter what your pleasure, you’ll find it here.

Bogside Gallery is is a great place to spend time. Very unique items. Mostly handcrafted, which is nice to support locally. It was a buzz with people in the evening, lit up beautifully. It is one of those stores where you want to pick up everything and have a look. If you have never been to the Hydrostone, you really should make a trip.
