I have long been a fan of Java Blend, even before I set foot in their shop. I have purchased their beans via some group fundraisers. I rarely get a chance to stop at their main store so I was very pleased when I saw a kiosk at the Seaport Market! I always get their Latte, no other, no time. Made with K2 beans(my personal favourite), it is delicous, right temp and choca full of flavour. Look for it upstairs, usually by someone playing music. Definitely worth a visit!

I’ve been in Halifax for a bit. I came from Seattle(you know the birthplace of Starbucks). I’ve ventured away from my safety net of the white cup with the green mermaid and found the love for locally roasted coffee that is Java Blend. This particular location(Seaport Market) is one of my stopping places when I hit the market on the weekend(which I do pretty often) and while my favorite JB is the North Street location, I do love this little second floor corner spot. Lines tend to be a little long but if you’ve ever had JB coffee then you know it’s worth it. Especially if there is a music vendor playing nearby(nothing like a little bluegrass to keep your feet stomping in line). If you’re lucky to snag one of the tables upstairs it makes for some great people watching and on a warm day hang out outside take in the view of the water.

This has very quickly become the very first place Tara and I head when we arrive at the Seaport Market on a weekend morning. We fill up on our favorite local blend of java goodness and if we’re lucky enough to find a seat upstairs do a little people watching before we shop for our meat and veggies in the market. Just like it’s North End parent spot the blends are smooth and delicious and the barristas are friendly and move fast!(especially appreciated with the morning line up). Of the choices available for coffee in the market(and there’s lots) this is our hands down favorite. Go, get caffeinated and be merry for your Market experience.

A coffee shop which you don’t notice all the time if you are honing in for the market, but during the week, this is a good spot for a coffee and chill out for a few. You’ll find a small number of brews ready(even decaf) and depending on the time of day some sweets to go along with it. It’s small, but there is outdoor seating during nicer days and the coffee is fresh.

This is always one of my very first stops when I get to the Halifax Seaport Market. Usually because I’m there earlier than I get out of bed most mornings and clearly need to get espresso into my face as fast as possible, but also because they’re nicely tucked in an upstairs corner where things are a little calmer. Perfect for taking a minute to enjoy a good coffee before jumping into the hipster-yuppie mob that is the market floor. Staff are super friendly but always ready to get right to it, keeping both lines and wait times as short as you want them to be when you really need that java boost. And, of course, they’re using all those freshly roasted beans from their little slice of heaven on North Street. Gorgeous coffee to go along with the gorgeous views of the harbour at the top of the corner stairwell!
