I’ve been to only two of the Steve-O locations but it’s just not a trip to the Market without a wonderful Mocha :) I work at a coffee shop and I just can’t get over how GOOD their Mocha is. Their North Mountain espresso roast is spot on.

I’ve had espresso based coffee from here a few times with similar results. Friendly people behind the counter, great tasting cappuccino, they know how to pull a shot. The only drawback in my opinion is that it’s too hot. You should be able to take a sip of your cap/latte straight away. That being said, if you have enough patience not to burn your mouth, your left with a great drink.

This location has become a permanent Seaport Market location, and does a really busy weekend service. I hadn’t ever stopped into the market on a weekday — until today, and I was pleasantly surprised by the deliciousness of the iced double americano I had. It was super necessary, as my walk back to work along the boardwalk was going to be boiling warm, and I was so happy to have a delicious coffee to help keep me cool. Service here is always plesant, and I’ll have to come back again knowing that they are open more than just on the weekends.

I know it’s probably a not-so-great indication of my hip, artsy street cred but the Halifax Seaport Market location of Steve-O’s is definitely my favourite. It’s clean, it’s fresh, it’s bright, and it’s almost impossible to miss on your way into the market. Let’s face it, for those early weekend market mornings, having your coffee shop front and center means not having to shove through the crowds uncaffeinated. To me, that is paramount. Staff here are a bit peppier than other locations –likely because you’d have to be peppy in order to survive the market crowd — and very happy to get you your fix in a hurry so that you can get on your way.

Steve O Reno’s manages to get almost everything right with their Farmer’s Market location. They have same great service and selection as can be found at their Brunswick Street location. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. For those craving a good coffee during their market-ing, this is surely a saving grace of the market. The only points they are losing is for pure logistics. They’ve used two separate locations and both face the same challenge that there is nowhere for customers to wait in line. Except in the way. It’s a problem common to many of the market businesses but the lineup for coffee is always so long, it becomes a real traffic impediment. Ironically, the solution might be to offer less service so customers rotate through faster. Still, while I don’t drink coffee myself, I’m told it’s worth the wait.
