Foggy Goggle Went there Friday night for drinks/dinner with my wife. We walked in and went past the bar in hopes to find a table but decided to sit at a table up front by the windows. It was busy however, there were plenty of waitresses working and some just chatting at the bar so we should have been seen. However, we waited 10 minutes at the table by the window but no one came by. So we left. That’s all I have to say…

We have been in a couple of times now and decided to post a review. This particular time we came in just for desserts. I had a carrot cake with cream cheese icing. My wife had the chocolate brownie with ice cream. The carrot cake was good, but was a little dry. The icing was very good though. The brownie was served warm and smelled very good. My wife gave me a little taste and it was very good. I would choose the brownie over the carrot cake next time if given the chance. The atmosphere is very nice, but a little eclectic. The wait staff is always very nice. The menu is not your typical run of the mill and we like that it uses local and gluten free choices.

So. Many. Delicious. Vegan. Options. Not to mention the drink menu that is absolutely fantastic! The size of the quinoa burger with a side soup left me full but not in that I-feel-like-I-might-explode way; refreshing for a pub type restaurant. Ambience is lovely; the dim lighting and armchairs are cozy and just makes you want to sit and visit forever. We had such a lovely waitress, too! Overall a great experience — I love finding more and more gems in the HRM. It’s going to be so difficult to choose soon!

What a great place for lunch. I can’t stop going. The food isn’t your typical pub fare, with very little that’s fried(and nothing that’s deep-fried). I’ve had both flavourful versions of the mac and cheese: one with lobster, and one with jalapeño and bacon; I’d be hard-pressed to pick my favourite. The ribs are great too, marinated in Propeller root beer and a pretty big portion for $ 17. It’s cosy, being long and narrow and semi-submerged from street level. There are benches, stools, tables small and large, and a few with comfy overstuffed wing-back chairs. Staff are always prompt, friendly, and occasionally funny. There’s usually some beer that’s $ 2 off, and a meal special every day. The only thing that would make it more perfect for me would be if they had more craft beers on tap. But they do have at least 3 varieties of Propeller, so I can’t fuss too much.

It’s my fave grilled cheese lunch spot. Great service. Local beer on tap.

I don’t find the staff to friend me there and it took a long time to get service. Why have waitstaff that’s not friendly and then expect a tip and it takes 20 minutes to get your order not to get the order but for someone to take your order

Looking for a place to have some food and drinks on Thanksgiving and I ran into The Foggy Goggle. They had the brunch menu happening so I ordered the Banana Bread French Toast and it was amazing. It was sweet but not overly sweet, the plate was large and filling but not where you felt stuffed after. The sauce was awesome and the fresh fruit on top was perfect and let me pretend that I was somewhat eating healthy. I also had a glass of the Propeller Pumpkin beer and it was also delicious. The service was good and it seemed like it would normally be a pretty fun place but like I said, it was Thanksgiving so it was kinda dead.

We came here for drinks as it had a homely(Mancunian) feel to it. There was a warm atmosphere and drinks at good prices! The food smelled lovely too.

I’ve been to the goggle for many meals — mac and cheese, beer; and the BRUNCH is fantastic!!! Highly recommend visiting here for food or drinks. The food is uniquely crafted and is rather healthy which is always nice when going out for a meal and drinks. The staff is always friendly and prompt with service as well. I tell all my friends to go here.

I’ve been to this pub a few times, both for brunch and to choose from their regular menu. I always sit on the patio, so I can’t really speak on the vibe inside the pub. I can however speak on the quality of the food. Off the bruch menu I have tried the eggs benedict and the breakfast version of the foggy spuds. The benny was a pretty typical benny if I remember correctly. The breakfast spuds are their famous foggy spuds(creamy potatoes, cheese, bacon crumbles, red onion and corn) with the addition of fried eggs, bacon and a side of toast. Delicious! On my most recent trip, I chose the haddock burger with a(in my opinion mandatory) side of foggy spuds. The fish tasted fresh and was coated with a light, crunchy coating. The burger was topped with a heaping pile of creamy coleslaw that added yet another element of texture to the sandwich. The cruchy burger complimented by the soft toasted roll was a match made in heaven. I think this might be my new favourite burger. The foggy spuds, well, just order them. Nothing I write will do them justice. You can’t go wrong with The Foggy Goggle. Brunch, dinner or drinks, be confident that whatever you indulge in will be amongst some of the best pub food you will ever eat.

Why this place only has 4 stars is completely beyond me?! My now hubby and I hosted our rehearsal lunch the day before our wedding here and it was FANTASTIC! We met with Julie about one year before the actual event and she totally let me be myself(an anxious bride to be) and ask tons of questions. Everything we talked about one year in advance was confirmed via a brief email a few months before and then we showed up and it was exactly what we had discussed! After planning a wedding, I can say that very few vendors /managers are as organized or as committed to carrying out an event like Julie is. We had 3 menu options: chowder, hamburger, or haddock burger and got rave reviews about all of them from our guests. I personally ate the haddock burger, served with a salad with beet dressing, it was out of this world. The best food we ate all week in Nova Scotia! The servers were incredible and everyone was so accommodating. Thank you so much to this amazing place and hosting one of the most memorable meals of my life! Thank you, thank you!

The food is delicious especially the Donicken(Donair chicken burger), Lobster Mac Cheese, Goggle Burger, nachos and one night special pulled pork spicy pizza. The 3 is for the mediocre service. Be warned that when the server mentions ‘an upgrade’ that means an additional $ 4 – 4.50 surcharge to change from a regular side dish to roasted potatoes or Caesar salad with bacon.(The salad wasn’t very good). Out of principal we would’ve like to have been told of the actual surcharge when ordering. The Dark Chocolate Belgium Brownie with ice cream actually tastes like a small triangle shaped chewy/crunchy cookie. My friend was expecting a moist thick brownie so he was disappointed. I actually enjoyed it. Oh and one more thing, the Mac and Cheese arrived after we all finished our meals. The server mentioned giving us a comp which ended up only being a $ 2.40 discount. All in all I would go back for the food but not for the service.

For this visit I tried The Donicken. The Foggy Goggle has quickly become one of my favourite places in the city to get a burger. They are not afraid to get creative with their food, while still maintaining a good level of deliciousness. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this burger, but I was definitely happy with the outcome. I would totally recommend this burger to both Donair and chicken lovers alike!

Proud of you Foggy Goggle. I go pretty frequently, because I’m a fan, but last night I brought in some visiting friends(one a vegan) and we all had the best meal ever. One of the group said the Goggle Burger was the best burger he had ever had that he hadn’t made at home. The vegan-ized nacho dip we all shared was still capital«A» Amazing even without it’s cheesy goodness that is usually my reason for ordering it. It was a really big hit with my whole party, every meal was to die for. Foggy spuds all round :)

There are places that are just full of good memories and this is one of them. It has always felt like my own personal Cheers, a place where I can sit up at the bar and have a pint with or without company. This takes us to one of the best parts of this place, the staff. They are always friendly, remember you name and know when to bring you a drink. It reminds me of a cozy living room, a bit dark and in a basement, unless you are on their great patio. The food is also delicious, no deep fried food in the Goggle kitchen. Love this place.

Great atmosphere and convenient downtown location for this pub. I went for the first time for lunch. They offer the standard pub food as well as those with a twist. For example, they have the wings, ribs, dips, and salads one would expect to see on the menu. They also have several lobster themed dishes and no less than 3 types of mac & cheese(regular, jalapeño & bacon, lobster). I struggled between which of the latter two to try but went with the jalapeño & bacon. It was great — creamy, gooey, with bacon and a heat from the peppers. I will definitely try the lobster version next. Each day, there is a different special offering $ 2 off(either menu item or drink). The list of specials for each day is on their website. They also recently started serving brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 9 – 3. The staff were really engaging and attentive. I may have found my new go-to lunch spot for when I am in that area.

I love this place. I always have a great time and the service can’t be beat. The food is not your average pup fare. None of their food is deep fried, and I know what you might be thinking. no deep fried french fries? Is that even legal? It is, and you will be so pleased you’ll be beggin’ for more. No deep fryer means it’s healthy, so indulge! The nacho dip is a must try as well, trust me. They have daily specials on food and drinks and if you’re still on the fence, the service is top shelf. I really don’t know what their secret sauce is for hiring but they are on it. The place is dark and lovely, the bar is comfortable to sit at and the patio is awesome when it’s not raining.

Drinks are kind of expensive and don’t have much flavour. Mojito was filled with booze(plus) but that’s about it, no flavour(boo). Beers are $ 5.75 and mix drinks are $ 11. The bunch looked amazing but we didn’t eat. Staff was friendly. It’s right across from a huge construction site which isn’t great.

The Foggy Goggle is a place I had wanted to visit since moving home almost 2 years ago. I knew they had some vegan options on the menu and was always intrigued by the giant goggles on the outside of their building. Walking in I loved the pub style ambiance. Being from the East Coast it makes it feel like home. The lighting was a bit dim for my taste however. Looking over the menu I saw quite a few items with vegan mentioned in the name or that sounded vegan. My husband ordered the Thai peanut bowl and I settled for the quinoa burger, which sounds completely vegan but tricks you with the mustard sauce which has honey(I asked the waitress cause I had my suspicion). My husband also ordered a vegan smoothie which was quick to come out but in all honestly was the most disgusting excuse for a smoothie either of us have ever had. It tasted like watered down almond milk with chunks of fruit in it. The rest of the food came out shortly after, very prompt. We were left without cutlery and my husband had to go ask the waitress for some. I really enjoyed my burger, it was filling and flavorful. Hubby was a bit disappointed with the bowl though. He was hoping for more tofu but he did love the sauce. Overall, it was an okay experience but can’t say it’s a place I would spend the money on again. Service was okay, atmosphere was mostly okay and the food was mostly good. And as a vegan I do have to say smelling bacon throughout the place was unappetizing as well.
