TBR makes a decent breakfast when you are hungry, and the servers are polite. We have only gone for supper there once and weren’t really impressed. My husband had the wings, which were just ok. I had one of their«specials» for the week which was a BLT sandwich(good and toasted) alongside a cup of ham and split pea soup(fairly certain it was canned soup, very mushy and salty). The atmosphere could use some upgrading. Not only is it drab, but the sun can really shine in through the little windows they have and since they don’t have curtains or blinds you occasionally have to sit and eat with the sun in your eyes. I’d also prefer to take my wallet out just once instead of paying the bartender for our drinks at the beginning of the meal, then paying our waitress for our food at the end. It’s nice that we have a local pub in the neighborhood, it’s just too bad it’s not better.

Best wings in the city. Super friendly staff. Perfect spot to unwind after work. My kids love it here

I had received a positive referral from a close friend who wanted me to try the beverage room’s large 15 ounce steak. Having bypassed the T.B.R. numerous times on the 103, this particular day seemed like the perfect time to see if my friend’s words rang true. The establishment is not overly big; the eating area is sort of set-up in a U-shape design while the open area has just enough space for musicians to perform and a small dance floor. The bar area is off to the side and the bathrooms are to the right of the main entrance when you first walk in… at least the male ones are from what I recall. I went all out and ordered the aforementioned steak with fries and a drink; the wait was reasonable and I looked forwarded to seeing if this steak was worth the near $ 20.00 charge. I usually like my meat to be cooked well done and when I first saw the thickness of the steak, I was worried that it would turn out to be very red in the middle, but I had no cause for concern. The only blip for me on this visit was that the fries seemed to cool down rather quickly, but it could have been that I was so enamored with the steak that I simply forgot about them. I also found that the washrooms were a bit run down and it appeared as though they have done little work in there since the place first opened in 1973. Still, I had a decent experience at the Timberlea Beverage Room and I look forward to returning again in the future.

Went here on an overcast Saturday evening in September because a group of relatives that live in the area suggested it. Otherwise, I can’t see any reason why I would’ve tried it. It’s exactly what I expected out of a neighborhood bar in an older, fully residential area. From the outside, there looks to be no windows at all, but a big parking lot which is good. Inside, it reminds me somewhat of Jenny’s on Lady Hammond in Halifax(ie mainly locals, very basic atmosphere, some TVs, overall blah). The server was friendly. I tried the nachos which were fine, nothing great or terrible or memorable about them. Nobody else in my party of 10-ish people commented on their food, so my guess is their felt the same way, between the clubhouse, chicken strips, kettle chips, etc. There was a solo male performer singing cover songs on stage, which wasn’t bad, but made it a bit loud and difficult to have a conversation. The only time I’d go back here is for karaōke — which a few of the women in my group already suggested.

After going to this bar a few times and seeing the same bad service, I am confident in saying this is the worst bar in HRM. I feel like this place should be on Bar Rescue. It is a very dirty and outdated place with no attempts to do anything about it. The only people I see in there are regulars. The man serving us(I think he owns the place) was rude and made us feel like we didn’t belong there. We are a group of 3 aged 24 – 30 and it looks like an older crowd here. He spent a lot of time at the other tables and only came over to us to get his money. Drinks were a little pricey. I don’t mind paying a lot for drinks as long as the drink, service, and environment are good. All three lacked. The times I came here for food I found the food to be average with nothing to set it apart from anything else. The outside of the building could use some work too. As I walk up to it I feel like I’m about to enter a strip club. With the large number of people living in Timberlea and surrounding area this place could be making lots of profit because it is the only place for miles.

Been to this place a few times. The food is good and so is the serve. The only draw back is that it takes along time to get your food. I plan on going back because of the food and serve.

I have to be honest, I am not reviewing the TBR as an eating establishment because, shamefully, I’ve never actually tried the food. I have visited the restaurant on many occasions but for one reason only… Friday night karaōke! I have a lot of friends who live in the Beechville, Lakeside, Timberlea area and we used to make it a point to attend karaōke night once a month. Get a group of people, have some drinks, and grab a microphone because everyone is guaranteed to have a good time. Donna is the lady that runs karaōke nights and her selections of songs do not disappoint. To give you an idea, our favorites range from Garth Brooks and Journey to Spice Girls and Bön Jovi… there is something for everyone. One recommendation… I would pre-order cabs to pick you up if you are coming back into the city. It can be quite a challenge to get a cab to come out to Timberlea. «Don’t stop believin’… hold onto that feelin’!!» Happy singing :)

I’ve never been here after dark which, I think, is probably a good thing. We’ve stopped in for breakfasts a couple of times and the menu was very average. You’re certainly not going to get your fancy-shmancy Cora-type breakfasts here — good ol’ bacon and eggs is about as refined as it gets. That being said, they do a good breakfast. Service is reasonably quick and at that time of day, there’s not a ton of people around. We’ve also been in for lunch, but weren’t as impressed. The lunch menu isn’t very distinctive and unless you like fries — with everything! — you’re not going to find much here to satisfy you.

Excellent pub-style food! The newly renovated pub serves what I believe is the best chicken wings there is! If you like spicy, you want to try the ‘suicide’ flavour. They have an excellent variety of food from steak, club-house sandwiches, fish & chips, hamburgers and many of your other pub-style yummies! My lunch-time preference is the clubhouse sandwich and fries. The fries were hot and it was a great portion. If you’re looking for a great place to stop for breakfast, this is also the place of choice. You get excellent portion sizes, fast service and a great selection. The breakfast hash-browns are amazing! The toast was done perfectly and the eggs were done just the way I like them(sunny-side up)! The overall experience was excellent.
