I think they are out of businesses. I went there last week but couldn’t find the restaurant.

Gonzo. You really fucked that up. It didn’t have to be this way, but your attitude and disdain for your customers made it come true.

Had the BBQ sampler. Everything tastes the same. I didn’t taste any smoke flavour, not sure how these piles of meat are cooked but compared to proper southern BBQ this stuff sucks. Portions good though.

Sauce was amazing! I ordered the 2 meat sandwich with coleslaw and it was so good. Chicken was a tad dry but the brisket was unreal! Definitely would return!

I decided to check this place out after seeing it featured on the Food Network’s show, Restaurant Takeover. The décor was amazing, a southern BBQ joint with modern style(sorry to see the confederate flags brought back, though, didn’t really find them essential). I also found it quite humorous that the owner Cameron reverted back to his original menu and didn’t keep many of Chef Adam’s suggestions, but in a way I’m glad. Although the menu changes they made on the show were beautiful and creative(I would have liked to try those dishes, but perhaps in a different type of restaurant setting), it wouldn’t have been true to the kind of place that the owner envisioned. Our server greeted us at the door and she was super nice, very knowledgable about the menu and helped recommend items that we would enjoy. My boyfriend and I split the BBQ sampler(instead of the pulled pork we just got extra brisket with our pulled chicken) with the macaroni salad and baked beans on the side. The food came out very quickly. I do prefer a more traditional macaroni and cheese with my BBQ but this was an interesting change up with pasta in a coleslaw-type dressing, and it was pretty good. The BBQ beans were REALLYGOOD. The meat was tasty, maybe just a tad dry but I liked it like that, it had a lot of the fat taken out of it and so was a healthier version of what it could be. All the portions were a good sized, and I enjoyed the variety of BBQ sauces that were served table-side as accompaniments. I only had one complaint and that it was FREEZING in the eat-in part of the restaurant. My boyfriend and I couldn’t even take our coats and hats off and I even tried eating in my gloves(our food got cold quickly). Our server told us there was an issue with the doors that allowed all the January air into the place. I will probably do take-out next time I come, but I will definitely be back for more.

Yee Haw! I still don’t understand why we don’t get great BBQ in Toronto, but I can say I love being a Hillbilly. If you’re in this neck of the woods in deep Hamilton, you’ve gotta come by for their sampler plate and in house made BBQ sauce. Now time to get-r-done.

I just tried this place last wk on a Groupon deal and WOW I was very impressed with the Food. The taste, portion size and service was excellent. The pulled pork had such a amazing flavour and the BBQ sauce yummy! I will def be back for more. We got the Ribs and pulled pork with beans, potato. Every bite was excellent. The meat portions lasted me and my BF three meals for $ 27! You cant beat that! Next time we will eat there as the sitting area is very warm and inviting

After my first time at Hillbilly Heaven, I wrote a blog post about their fried chicken & waffles. I noticed an inconsistency with the menu description and what i received and made a note of it on my blog. Shortly after, Cameron contacted me and told me the staff had made a mistake and invited me back for dinner. First off, I was completely blown away by the gesture. Not only did he fess up to making a mistake but he immediately offered to make it up to me. I’ve only ever received this type of customer service at high end 4 star establishments and to receive such genuine service from a local establishment blew me away! Keep it up Cameron & Staff! This place is the very definition of off the hook. Food is just straight up awesome, with a health dollop of awesomesauce on top. I’ve been here about four or five times now and always try to hit it when I pass through Hammertown. I waffle between which I love more. The beef brisket or the pulled pork. Homemade BBQ sauces are very good. Nice buns on the sandwiches. Love the baked beans as a side. The other sides are good too. As noted by others, portion size is HUGE. Tremendous value here given the fantastic quality and low prices. I encourage you to support this restaurant. This is the kind of place you want to have become a local institution.

Incredible service and incredible food! The two guys working were both very friendly and seemed to want to be there. The food was traditional southern BBQ but was the best I have ever had anywhere in north America. The portions were huge and the sides were awesome… especially the BBQ beans!

I was underwhelmed by this place. We each had pulled pork dinner with nachos and one pop. Yes the meat portions were enormous, but again it seemed he was out of half the menu. In my opinion more tasteless food at an inflated price isn’t better than a moderate serving of great food. All the BBQ sauce tasted the same to me — too sweet. I visited a real southern food restaurant in Virginia last year and this place is absolutely no comparison to that. I was annoyed that the nacho chips as shown on the menu were just plain old ripple potato chips. Guess he was out of nachos too. The tiny pop I got for myself at $ 2.50 was another irritant. I agree with the person who spoke about the«I’m a grump» act except I don’t think it was an act. I overheard the him saying to a customer that he didn’t think he’d be doing it(the restaurant) much longer. Personally from what I’ve seen I think he’s already been doing it too long. The place always seems to have people in it, but never seems terribly busy. The décor was interesting and the place looked relatively clean. I usually judge things by whether or not I would return to/buy/experience them again. This place I will not be returning to.

We went on an afternoon during the week. Half the menu wasn’t available but then again we weren’t there during busy hours, so maybe that’s the standard at BBQ places. I ordered a sandwich that had brisket, pulled pork, and smoked chicken. It was enough to feed 4 people. It was also delicious. The guy behind the counter seems to be putting on some kind of a «I’m a grump» act that may play well to people who go there often, but will put a lot of newcomers off. He told me to, «get my own drink», from the cooler at the front, when I told him I’d have a coke. Oh well… I’ll be back. I only wish he’d put a location closer to Toronto.

Really isn’t enough of these types of places around for slow cooked BBQ, such as brisket, pulled pork etc. Had the small pulled pork sandwich with a side of slaw and a black cherry pop. Place smells like a smoker, portions were excellent size, and cost was average(considering you can buy a pork shoulder for peanuts). They had homemade BBQ sauces along with probably 20 hot sauces from all over. Would go back for sure, but can’t imagine what a large sandwich would look like.
