Wow. Either Canadians are really tough judges, or all the 1&2 star reviewers were having a bad day or eating at a different place than we ate at. OK, so this place *may* not make it to 5 stars. But 1 or 2? Again, wow. In my book, you reserve that for the worst of the worst, and seriously this place sure as heck is NOT in that category. Most of the complaints related to cosmetic concerns rather than the food. Come on people!!! I’ve seen plenty of 4 and even 5 star reviews, for hole-in-the-wall places because the food was decent. Was the place small? It had maybe 8 tables, plus outside seating. Not the smallest nor largest I’ve been to. Décor? The place was clean, well-lit, with a sparse, basic décor. Pretty standard for a lot of the smaller sushi outlets in bigger cities. Service? Yes, it’s true that water and tea did have a self-service stand. However, we never had to use it. The very pleasant young lady who served us, offered us both tea and water upon seating us, and returned about 20 minutes later to top off both for us. Perhaps the ownership has read the reviews and upped its game in the service department, but whatever the reason, we had absolutely no complaints about the service. Prices? Here I have to defer to Canadian reviewers who are more likely to be familiar with Canadian standards for price point criteria for sushi restaurants. But as an American visitor, we got two of the larger sashimi platters, which had 20 pieces each. In the United States, we would have been lucky to find such a deal for under $ 35. At current admittedly favorable exchange rates, we paid about 30% less than that. Portion sizes? I have to agree with other reviewers that some of the pieces of fish were perhaps 10 to 20% smaller then I might have seen at other sushi restaurants. However, the overall quantity was equal in proportion to the price given the larger number of pieces than one usually sees in such a platter. I did not feel cheated in the least. Food quality? Our order was fresh, leaning slightly in favor of the salmon, but nicely presented and flavorful. I cannot comment on the question of whether the salmon was farmed or wild. Perhaps I missed a reference to this in the menu, or perhaps there is a way to visually(or by taste) identify one vs. the other. I by no means support the use of farmed salmon. However, I could not in fact confirm that the salmon I ate was farmed. I’d be curious to learn from the other reviewers if there is such a test based on examination of the fish that is presented on the plate. Yes, this is the only sushi restaurant in town that I could see. It certainly was not the very best sushi restaurant I have ever been to, but in my honest opinion, it was decent and the nice people who own and run the restaurant don’t deserve the depths of condemnation they have received from other reviewers. Given how utterly disproportionately extreme the negative reviews have been, I feel justified in wanting to counterbalance their unjustified negativity with a 5-star rating. Under ordinary circumstances, I would certainly not have a problem giving it a four-star rating.

hmmmm. I feel sorry I didn’t check the review before eating at this place. I could only taste the sauce in my shrimp yakisoba(no taste of any ingredient I see on my plate). service was great thou.

I know that in Vancouver we are spoiled with very good sushi, but the stuff from this place is almost inedible. Rock hard avocado in a basic avocado roll is not acceptable. Or considered to be ‘food.’ Tempura is a light batter, not a thick and greasy mess. And the ultra high pricing is outrageous… the isolated location is no excuse for this. It’s an insult to decent cuisine.

Ordered the chicken udon and chicken teriyaki don. A little expensive for the portion and quality.

Way too pricey for what you get. The presentation was poor. The raw ingredients were sub par. The nigiri was roughly cut slabs of farmed salmon on rice. Really sub standard fare. I also had the worst chicken teriyaki that I have ever had. Give it a miss.

New owner, even better taste! I agree they’re pricy but most of restaurants in Harrison Hot springs are pricy too. They make really good sushi and sushi rolls. Also their teriyaki box combo is amazing! It’s not regular fried chicken with teriyaki sauce. Their chicken is so soft and based on soy sauce. The new owner is nice young man and make really good sushi.

Being the only sushi spot at Harrison Hot Springs, this place is overpriced. The décor is old, and very limited seating. Lots of people were getting orders to go because there was no place to sit. It is self serve water and tea(that’s a first), we asked for water and the server pointed to the self service table. The portions are small. We had to place another order because we were still hungry. The sushi is not the best quality I have had. They do not have any wild salmon, all of it is farmed.

They only serve farmed salmon — yuk. Had one of their Bento boxes. Prices were high.

My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch on 6÷1÷13 after a relaxing soak in the Harrison Hot Springs Public Pool. It was cool and drizzling out, so I was all set for tempura udon. We didn’t wait long. The tempura was crunchy and not greasy. Yum! The broth was very bland though. Almost flavorless, really. That tempura udon was $ 14(Canadian $), way too much for what it was. You must serve yourself your own tea and water as well. They need to up their game or lower their prices.

Came into this wee little sushi joint for lunch while staying in Harrison Hot Springs. Very small with limited seating and dated, shabby décor. Waitress was pleasant enough but not very attentive(didn’t refill our teacups until we asked twice, left empty dishes from our appies at the table when she dropped off our bento boxes… stuff like that). Food was meh. Gyoza was thick and doughy, sashimi was teeny tiny frozen pieces, full sized chicken Teriyaki don had very little chicken(or veg. 1 tiny piece of broccoli!). One redeeming quality is the traditional rolls are a good size(but still, $ 6.50 for a California roll??). And above all, the prices are very high. When I went to pay the debit machine wouldn’t work(no sign or comment when seating us saying as much) so we ended up scrambling for cash. I wouldn’t come back. Gonna go back to the hotel and drink away this bad lunch.
